Inspired by this blog post.

The Midnight Runners are a group dedicated to tracking down terrible fanfiction... and reviewing it. Critically. Harshly, but not unduly so. Here's what you need.

-Knowledge. You can't criticize others unless you're able to see the flaws in your own work, understand the rules of writing and the English language, and know the difference between artistic choices and shitty writing.
-Honesty. You've got to be honest in your critiques. Brutally so. Do NOT omit details because they'll hurt someone's feelings. You can't improve unless you're broken down first.
-Generosity. You have to donate YOUR time and effort to find and attack bad fanfiction. That's what I'm asking you to do. And you'll get no recompense for that, aside from the possible satisfaction of helping people see the light.
-Stoicism. Don't get into arguments and fights with the fic writers and their friends. That's not our modus operandi. Don't let them get under your skin, and don't get emotional. This line of work isn't for the emotional, but rather the logical.
-Kindness. That's right, despite our harsh words, we're helping people and being kind to them. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. That means- and I can't stress this enough- you attack the fic, NOT the author.
-Loyalty: This group exists for a reason. We're here to back each other up. Do not hesitate to call in backup if you feel the need. If nothing else, I'm here. If some guy is giving you shit about your review, bring in some other people to assist you in the beatdown.

These are the Elements of Critical Harmony. Use them to beat the shit out of people's bad stories. Go, now. Only you can prevent forest fires. Believe in me who believes in you. Just- fucking go already, before I start quoting Casablanca or something!

Oh, one last thing. If you see bad fics, even if you do critique them, make sure you post them in this group so we can monitor the authors and shit.
