The Concordiat, the word defines what Equestria is about, Harmony. For all the nations of the continent none has it as the central tenet of their civilization. For the ponies it defines them, for the Concordiat is no Empire, Kingdom, or Republic.

Hmmm, well let's see. So I don't clog up the other area, i think I'll ask my questions here. But my above questions stand, and if the stuff already up has the answers, where should I look for them here? ...also, what are your thoughts on Alchemy in Equestia...as in, what mechanics does it follow? Real world + Magic? Fullmetal Alchemist rules? Or something else if it's even mentioned at all?

I picked the name for the same reason, well that and I wanted something to differentiate my Equestria from all the kingdoms, principalities, empires, and republics out there. The name comes from the Bolo book series as it is used as the name of the human star-nation, the Concordiat.

Not at all. I picked it because concord, a french word meaning harmony/peace, was taken, so I combined it with the ending of my favorite Roman Emperor's name, Diocletian. Concord + Diocletian = Concordian.
