How's this for a story: Twilight goes out with Flash but then realizes that he's the most boring and bland guy she's ever met and can't believe she ever fell for him. Afterwards, she begins to think back on the human and asks a number of questions like Why didn't I just take the crown? Why was I willing to let Sunset smash the portal? Sunset's plan was actually unbelievably stupid, etc. She then wonders if her being a princess was really necessary and comes to the epiphany that everything she's ever done was to please other ponies, so she ditches her crown and moves back to Ponyville, swearing that she'll live her life the way she wants to.

Sounds like a decent concept. Unfortunately, writing such a story would cause rabid bronies to accuse you of being butt-hurt.

Only good if she falls in love with Spike at the end.
