Burst woke up with a start! It was Monday, and he would be late for school if he didn't move his rear! 'Oh man! Duelist Kingdom wore me out so much I forgot to set my alarm! Good thing I can summon Blue Eyes for a lift!', he thought to himself as he hurriedly got dressed. It had only been a couple of days since he won Duelist Kingdom. Pinkie had been going on about throwing him a party to celebrate. But whenever he asked, she would just tell him that he would have to wait and see. And when Burst asked Sunset or any of the others, they would just say they didn't know anything. These thoughts were constantly cycling in his head as he was wolfing down breakfast. Burst then went out the door and took out his Blue Eyes White Dragon card.
"Come on out Blue Eyes!", he called out! As Burst spoke, a portal opened from the monster world that let Blue Eyes come through.
"Need a lift?", Blue Eyes asked.
"You know it buddy.", Burst said with a smile as he jumped on Blue Eyes back, "Let's fly!" Blue Eyes took off and soared across the sky until CHS came into view.
"Here's a good spot to land. See ya when I duel Blue Eyes!", Burst said as he dismounted and returned Blue Eyes back to his world. As he entered the school, Burst couldn't help but notice that there was nobody in the hallways. Following his instincts, he made his way to the gym. From the look of the windows, the lights were off but the door was unlocked when he tried the handle. As he walked in, the lights suddenly flashed on!
"Surprise!", the whole school shouted! Burst smiled, 'I should've known Pinkie would throw a party to celebrate my big win. But I didn't expect it to happen here at school.
"Do you like it Burst? Do ya? Do ya?", Pinkie asked while nearly bouncing off the walls.
"It's awesome! Thanks Pinkie!", Burst said with a big smile. At that moment, Sonata spotted Burst from the crowd, and rushed up to hug him!
"Burst!", she cried as she gave him the tightest hug possible!
"Nice to see you too Sonata!", Burst said as he struggled to breathe, "but could you please let go now? You're kinda squeezing me too tight!"
"Whoops! Sorry about that!", she said as she released him!
Burst breathed a sigh of relief, "By the way, how are things with your family?", he asked.
A huge smile crept onto Sonata's face, "Everything's good now! I guess me running away to Duelist Kingdom snapped them into shape! Although, they DID give me a huge scolding for running away. But now we're happy again and we've enrolled here! Want to meet them?"
Burst shrugged, "Sure. I've got nothing better to do."
As they went to meet Sonata's family, Burst had no idea someone was watching him. His name was Arctic Ace, and he had a HUGE crush on Sonata Dusk. 'Looks like I'm too late to ask her out', he thought sadly, 'Looks like the Duelist Kingdom champion is with her.'.
"Come on Ace, there's still one way to win her over!", Dark Magician Girl said as she materialized, "You could duel for her hand! Like in one of those old movies!".
Ace smiled, "Thanks DMG. But it's also possible they're just friends. But, I DO want to see how strong this Burst Stream guy is."
Meanwhile, Sonata was introducing Burst to her family. "Adagio, Aria, this is my friend Burst Stream! He's also the one who won Duelist Kingdom!", she said cheerfully. "
"You didn't tell us he was cute.", Adagio said with a flirty smile.
Burst slightly blushed, "Um, thanks."
"So, what type of deck do you run?", Aria asked.
"I use a Blue Eyes White Dragon deck. No monster I'd rather fight besides.", Burst said.
"I wish Jellyfish could be here.", Sonata said, "He loves to party."
"Why don't you summon him?", Burst asked, "Ever since I won the tournament, any duelist who shares a bond with their cards can summon their monsters. Try it out!"
Sonata pulled out her jellyfish card, and the creature actually materialized! "Jelly!", she cheered as she hugged him tightly.
It was then that Ace walked up to them. "Are you Burst Stream?", he asked.
"Yeah I am. And I see you've got some monster partners too.", Burst said as he pointed to Dark Magician Girl and Gagaga Magician Girl.
"Thanks for noticing.", Ace said, "I was wondering, Do you wanna duel?"
Burst noticed how much Ace was staring at Sonata, and an idea came to him. "Alright. But there's a promise I want you to keep no matter which of us wins. I'll tell you all the details after the duel.", Burst said with a smile.
"Okay then!", Ace said, "Let's duel!"

"My turn!", Burst said, "I play Trade-In to discard a level eight monster and draw two cards! Next I'll play Card of Consonance to discard a dragon type tuner from my hand to draw two cards and end my turn! And since the tuner was White Stone of Ancients, I get to special summon a blue eyes monster from my deck! Come on out Blue Eyes White Dragon!"
"I'm up then!", Ace said, "I play Cost Down to decrease the levels of all monsters in my hand by two! Now I play the field spell Sorcerous Spell Wall! I'll summon Dark Magician Girl! I'll equip her with Ribbon of Rebirth and Magic Formula to boost her attack points by 700 points! Now my field spell goes into effect! All monsters on my field gain 300 attack during my turn and 300 defense during your turn! Attack his Blue Eyes with Apprentice Dark Magic Attack!"
Blue Eyes and Dark Magician girl fired blasts of energy at each other! But because they were equal in strength, they destroyed each other! "Now Ribbon's effect activates! Dark Magician Girl comes back to my field since I ended my turn!", Ace said, "Your move!"
Burst smile as he drew his next card! "I play Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands and use his effect to add a ritual monster from my deck to my hand! Now I sacrifice a monster from my hand to ritual summon Blue Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon! Attack with Chaos Burst!"
Chaos MAX released a gigantic ball of energy that wiped out Dark Magician Girl!

"I play Swords of Revealing Light!", Ace said, "This should keep your monsters in check for three of your turns! Long enough for me to turn this duel around!"
"Putting on a brave face for your girlfriend Ace?", Gagaga Girl asked slyly.
Ace blushed, "N..no! I really think I can turn this duel around!". "Aww, you're so cute when you're embarrassed Ace!", Dark Magician Girl said.
Burst took note of the conversation and couldn't help but smile. "So that's one of the reasons why you wanted to duel me. Any guy willing to go that far for the girl he likes is a great duelist in my book.", Burst said to Ace, "It's still your move by the way."
"Thanks!", Ace said, "I play Double Summon to bring out Gagaga Girl and Skilled Dark Magician! Now I activate Magical Dimension and tribute Skilled Dark Magician to special summon Dark Magician Girl from my hand! Now I play two Star Changers to make my two magicans level 5! I overlay them to xyz summon Magic Blade Valkyrie Mairi Mage! I also play Dark Magic Expanede to boost her by 1000 attack points! I also equip her with Book of Secret Arts! Now I play Dark Magic Veil! By paying 1000 life points I can special summon a dark attribute spellcaster from my hand or graveyard! I special summon Dark Magician Girl from the graveyard! Mairi Mage, destroy Chaos MAX! And DMG, attack him directly!"

"My move then!", Burst said as he drew a card, "Perfect! I play the spell card Harmony Absolute! I tribute one Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck to special summon Blue Eyes Harmony Absolute Dragon from my hand! Attack his Magic Blade Valkyrie with Absolute Harmony Burst Stream!"
"It's been fun ladies, but you're not my type.", Harmony Absolute said as he fired a rainbow colored burst stream that wiped out Magic Blade Valkyrie.

Ace: 0, lose
"Now for that promise Ace.", Burst said with a smile, "You have to ask Sonata out!"
Ace was in shock! "How did you know I like her?!"
"I saw you staring at her when you asked to duel me. Wasn't that hard to piece together. If you're shy about it, remember this! In dueling and in life, if you keep being too careful with what move you make, you'll always miss the chance right in front of you! Now's your chance Ace! The worst thing she can say to you is no, so what do you have to lose?", Burst said with a reassuring smile!
Ace's eyes blazed with a new-found determination, and walked up to Sonata. "Sonata, I was wondering if....if you would go out with me.", Ace said.
Sonata smiled, and kissed Ace full on the mouth! "Of course!", she said with a bright smile!
Ace could barely contain the joy he felt! "That's wonderful! I'm free this Friday if you are! It's a date!"
"I love happy endings.", Blue Eyes said.
"Me too pal.", Burst said as he gave Ace a thumbs-up.
