Eric’s P.O.V.

As I awoke from my dreamless slumber I noticed a few things; first was a strange sound, like water spinning before it’s sucked rapidly down a drain pipe, next was shifting lights that penetrated through my eyeballs and last was the soft snored of my companions around me. I opened my eyes, not quite sure if I was ready for what I might see.

At first I wasn’t sure what I was looking at, it was so strange and even compared to everything else had seen in this world it stood out as unusual. A oval shape was held in the air close to the roof of the train, it didn’t move although I knew it must have been travelling with us because I could feel the steady vibrations of the train moving. Inside the oval was a shifting display of bright colors, they swirled and combined, increasing and decreasing in brightness. It was not unlike the void I saw when I was transported to this strange new world.

I lay there transfixed for several moments before coming to my senses and moving so that it was not directly over me. If something comes through that I’m not letting it land on me. Not sure what to do, I nudged my companions. One by one they woke up and stared at the shape floating in the air, Twilight almost looked excited even in her bedmaned and tired state.

“Umm does anyone happen to know what that thing is?” I asked my friends.

“Nope.” Spike said.

“No idea.” Sanguine added.

“Well if I was to offer a guess the most likely answer would be a portal.” Twilight said, trying to be helpful.

“Yeah… that’s kinda what I was thinking.” I said, worry on my face.

As we all sat there, trying to comprehend what we were seeing the lights inside the floating oval suddenly grew lighter. For a moment everyone in the cabin was blinded before the brightness receded. A second later the portal spat out a small diamond, a gold coin and a small book before it just disappeared. The only evidence that it had even been there were the objects it had left behind, spread haphazardly on the floor. Slowly I approached the objects to take a closer look. On the coin was written Au, the diamond (in my completely uninformed opinion) looked perfectly cut and the book was titled, ‘Displaced: A Users Guide to the Multiverse.’

The next moment Twilight attempted to move closer to the small collection of objects, I panicked and shouted. “Twilight stop!”

She froze in place and looked at me, confusion all over her face before saying. “Why Eric? They don’t look so dangerous.”

“Twilight if I have played enough games I know the start of a grand and stupid adventure that will risk the very fabric of reality.” I said with sudden confidence, my gaming knowledge was unmatched even amongst the people I played with online. “Now destroy them. If we even touch them we may get caught in the adventure.”

“Are you sure Eric? It might be fun.” Sanguine said from behind me.

“Yes! Do it now!” I shouted again, making my friends jump.

Without any further objection Twilight and Sanguine lit their horns, sending a bolt of magic at them. Immediately they all imploded, the objects pulling themselves into a single point before disappearing completely.

When they were gone I sat back down in my seat, breathing a sigh of relief. When I looked up I saw my friends looking at me warily.

“Are you sure that was neccessary? I don’t think we really needed to do that.” Twilight said carefully.

“You have no idea.” I said before laying down and quickly falling back to sleep.
