//------------------------------// // Ice Cream // Story: Luna and Ice Cream // by Shattered Ice //------------------------------// Princess Luna was idly sitting around. It wasn't her turn yet to raise the moon because it was still in the afternoon. Some geese flew noisily in the sky, squawking irritably and heading towards Neighxico, in order to escape the colder times approaching. Annoyed by the noise, Luna used her dark blue magic to slam shut the doors. The walls were painted a light shade of blue, her favorite color. After all, she helped rule and still was helping Celestia rule Equestria, so she should be allowed to choose what color her room should be, at the very least. She began levitating objects around her, but after a while, she got bored. Her night sky like mane floated around taking up space, and Luna was in desperate need of something to occupy herself. She decided to walk down to the castle kitchens. After all, she was feeling a tad bit hungry. She walked over to one of the tables, where her sister, Princess Celestia, was taking a break from the Day Court and eating something brown with a spoon, put into a small bowl with a small sun drawing on it. Luna wanted to see what strange food that her elder sister was eating and decided to walk over to her sister. She blinked in curiosity. The brown thing seemed to be cold, by what her magic was telling her. "Pray, tell me dear sister, what is that?" asked Luna suspiciously. She knew that her sister ate a lot of strange things. Fried ghost peppers with cereal, strawberry and kiwi pizza, Luna had a lot of things to count off her hoof that she could definitely say that her sister's tastes were truly weird. Princess Celestia turned around and smiled at Luna. A few drops of chocolate were still on her lips. Celetia licked the drops off and gestured to the brown thing with her yellow, plastic spoon. "This? This is something that Twilight brought from the other world where people there walk on two hooves. I think it is called ize creem. It has a lot of flavors. Mango, strawberry, vanilla, rocky road... The list goes on and on, but I like the chocolate flavor. Here, try some mint chocolate chip!" replied Celestia as she used her magic to bring a bowl of mint chocolate chip to her sister, along with a purple plastic spoon. Luna raised her eyebrow at her sister, and cautiously took a bite. Nothing exploded, and her mouth didn't explode with heat like other times her sister had offered a sample of her food. One of Celestia's personal advisors, Paper Shuffler, a white unicorn with blue glasses came forward and whispered in Celestia's ear. Celestia opened her eyes wider and then said thank you to her advisor. "Paper Shuffler just told me that they actually call it ice cream," said Celestia as Luna began now eating her ice cream normally. She took a pause, to acknowledge her sister, and then resumed eating her ice cream. "I must visit this other nation where Twilight has returned from! Imagine all the knowledge and sweet treats hidden there for me to discover!" declared Luna as she took a rest from her ice cream. "This is simply divine, sister!" By now, it was halfway eaten. Although Celestia loved being around her sister, she decided to take a break and rest by herself, and so she quickly finished her ice cream and used magic to clean the bowl and put it back to where it was. Quick Quill, another one of Celestia's advisors clip-clopped over to his majesty and whispered a question to the white alicorn. "Nah. It will be fun to see what she'll do." the elder sister replied, her voice laced with amusement. "What will I do?" asked Luna. "Nevermind," replied Quick Quill as he exited the room to meet up with marefriend. Then, Celestia flew off to relax in the one of the living rooms, leaving Luna alone in the dining room. However, about 6 minutes after Celestia had left, the effects of eating her ice cream too fast were beginning to show. A thudding pain erupted in her head and Luna put her hooves to her head, thus dropping her spoon to the floor. "CURSE THOU, FOULEST ICE CREAM. WHATEVER CURSE THOU HAS PLACED ON ME, REMOVE IT!" she roared in her supreme Canterlot voice. The ice cream didn't reply, and it didn't do anything to show that it was scared of Luna. It wasn't impressed, and just sat still and melting, like all ice cream does. But after a few moments, her pain in her head passed away. Luna was able to think clearly again. Clearly, this must have been the work of her sister, Luna thought. She had withheld information from her sister just to get an amusing reaction out of her. Well, that was it for Luna. She would take matters into her own hands, err.. hooves. Luna dropped her spoon and crushed it with one of her extremely powerful hooves. She angrily marched into the living room where Celestia was lounging and reading a book, Hoof Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Luna's dark and strong, powerful wings were outstretched, and Luna used her magic to make her remaining ice cream zoom like a missile towards Celestia's head. It splattered all over Celestia's mane with a large "SPLAT" sound. Mint chocolate chip was splattered all over Celesta's book, and the phrase she was reading, "You're a wizard, Hoof." was reduced to "You a wi oof." Celestia parted her mane with one white hoof and glared at her sister. "What in the hay was that for?" she asked, annoyed, with drops of mint chocolate stuck to her cheek. Luna glared back at her sister. "You know what. You knew I would get this "ice cream curse" if I ate ice cream too quickly. Yet, you didn't say anything just to get a reaction out of me!" Luna replied, now just annoyed. Celestia stuck out her pink tongue and stretched out lazily. "That was the idea." she replied as she suddenly grinned and conjured a ball of chocolate ice cream and threw it at her sister. It landed on Luna's face with a satisfying "Plock!". Luna smiled back, as she conjured an ice cream ball as well. "Two can play this game, elder sister!" And so the two sisters threw ice cream balls at each other, and the happily laughed until their duty called them once more. No one questioned why Celestia's mane was colored with chocolate sprinkles and had a vanilla ice cream ball on her horn, or why Luna had an ice cream cup stuck to her head, although a few of the ponies and guards raised a few eyebrows. But alas, that is another story for another day.
