Chapter 10: A talk with Celestia

Toriel leans against Asgore, a warm smile was across her face.

"Do you think we should go and check on Celestia? she didn't look to happy." She asked.

"Yeah, we should." Asgore said, nodding, nuzzling Toriel. Toriel nuzzles Asgore one last time, then heads off in the direction that Celestia went.

"Hey, I wasn't done nuzzling!!" he laughed, trotting up along side Toriel and leaves a soft kiss on her cheek. Toriel blushes and knocks on the door that Celestia went through. Celestia groans and goes over to the door and opens it.

"Oh...hello, Toriel..." Celestia said, not sounding like her cheery self.

"May we come in?" Toriel asked.

"Sure." Celestia said, moving aside. Toriel has a smile and walks in alongside Asgore.

"Thank you." She said.

"What is it that you wanted?" Celestia asked, trying to sound calm. Toriel looks at her.

"Well, there is one question I want to ask, why do you hate Chrysalis?" She asked.

"I don't hate Chrysalis. I hate what she does." Celestia said. Toriel is confused.

"What does she do?" She asked.

"Well, three years back, she made an attack during Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's wedding. She locked Cadence away in the crystal caves and played as Cadence." Celestia said.

"Ugh...what a horrid thing to do!" Asgore said in anger. Toriel gasps in shock and her eyes widen.

"But, she seemed so kind." She said.

"You're new here. She's just trying to get on your good side so you can feed her so she can keep her hive going, and she'll attack again when she feels fit enough to do so. Don't trust her." Celestia warned. Toriel rubs the back of her neck.

"Well... She already fed off of me. But she told me that her hive was dying, that their are only hundreds of changelings in her hive left." She chuckles nervously.

"I honestly wish she wasn't so evil, then I'd openly feed her knowing she won't use my hospitality against me." Celestia said. Toriel begins to worry.

"I can see you worry, but don't. One feed won't give her enough power." Celestia said. Toriel relaxes slightly and sits.

"I'm... I'm so sorry, I didn't know." She said. Asgore sets a hoof on Toriel's shoulder.

"Is she gone?" Celestia asked. Toriel nods.

"She left to go back to her hive." She said. Celestia looks out the nearby window.

"Good. Let us hope she doesn't return." She said.

"Isn't that going just a little too far?" Toriel asked. Celestia turns back with a sigh.

"Toriel...nothing good comes of her presence. We've had many fights, all of which she's failed luckily." She said. Toriel looks away.

"I... I find that hard to believe." She said.

"Believe what you want, Toriel. The truth of it will prevail." Celestia said.

"No." Toriel said immediately.

"Why not?" Celestia asked.

"Chrysalis was nice to me, she even pleaded with you to help, would any bad pony do that? No. And what did you do, you gave her sarcasm. " Toriel said.

"After years of having to deal with changelings, it's hard to believe a sudden and abrupt apology, Toriel. You don't understand these creatures. You have Frisk, yes, but she's different." Celestia said. Tears start to from on Toriel's face.

"And why not Chrysalis! Why can't see change!? She came to you and pleaded for you to help her, even said that she would take any punishment for what she has done. But no, you just walked away. Why!?" She screamed.

"Because some ponies just don't change!" Celestia snapped. Toriel stares at her for a few second, then runs out of the room, tears falling from her face.

"Heh...sorry...I should...go with her..." Asgore said nervously. Asgore turns and chases after her.

"Toriel!" He yells. Toriel doesn't hear him. Her horn glows and she disappears. Asgore stops, a hoof pointing at where Toriel was.

"Toriel..." he said quietly. Toriel reappears right next to the mirror portal. She doesn't notice Twilight looking through a book as she went through, her eye clouded with tears. Twilight quickly sees her.

"Toriel?" Twilight sets down the book and follows her. Toriel appears on the other side, no one noticing her appear. She is breathtaking heavily. She sits on the base of the mirror and cries into her hands. Twilight appears next and sits down next to her.

"Toriel..." She whispered. She hugs the former queen lightly, avoiding sitting on her tail. Toriel leans against Twilight slightly. Her crying has slowed, but the tears have not.

"What's wrong, Toriel?" Twilight asked. The sound of a loud vehicle neared and Twilight turned her head.

"Looks like skids are arriving for school..." She said. Toriel wipes her eye and looks at Twilight.

"Thank you, Twilight." She sniffed, just as she sees Principal Celestia.

"Anything for a friend." Twilight said happily, smiling.

"Twilight? Toriel? What's going on?" Principal Celestia asked as she approached. Toriel tries to speak to Principal Celestia, but couldn't. She looks away. Principle Celestia kneels down, placing a hand on Toriel's shoulder.

"Deep breaths, Toriel." She said. Toriel does what Principal Celestia said and takes deep breaths.

"What's wrong, Toriel?" Principal Celestia asked. Toriel begins to explain what happened before she came here.

"Aww, I'm so sorry, Toriel..." Principal Celestia said.

"Chrysalis seemed so nice, like she wouldn't hurt anyone. But Celestia just turned and walked away from her." Toriel said.

"Oh...seems like my equine counterpart is a bit more stern than I am. If it's any consolation, Chrysalis's human counterpart goes here. She's a sweet kid, maybe you could be friends with her?" Principal Celestia asked.

"What...I've never seen HER counterpart here..." Twilight said in surprise.

"She just transferred here recently." Principle Celestia said, smiling at Twilight. Toriel ears perk up and she looks at Celestia with interest.

"Really?" She asked. Celestia nods.

"But this one doesn't know who you are." She said. As students walk by, a number of them wave to Toriel. Toriel waves back at the students and stands up. She is still slightly not used to being taller than everyone else.

"I would like to meet her." She said.

"Maybe you'll get lucky enough to see her." Celestia said, smiling.

"Toriel...if it's okay...I need to get back to my world now." Twilight said. Toriel looks at Twilight and nods.

"If Asgore asks where I am, tell him I'm here." She said.

"Alright." Twilight said. With a wave and a smile she walks back through the portal.

"So, what are you planning on doing now?" Celestia asked. Toriel sighs.

"I... I think I will stay here until I'm ready to head back." She said.

"Well, while you're here, could you fill in for the same teacher as last time? They're still not doing well. I think your students would like to see you again." Celestia said, smiling. "A lot of the kids here are curious of you, Toriel. It's not often they get somebody from another planet as a sub. You've become quite the hot topic." she said. Toriel is surprised.

"Really?" she said.

"Yes, actually. So, would you like to sub again?" Celestia asked. Toriel smiles and nods.

"Sure." She said.

"Great! We've got an hour till first period. Maybe we can walk around as we chat?" Celestia asked.

"Sure!" Toriel said happily, just as she sees Sunset Shimmer.

"Oh! Hello, Sunset!" She said. Sunset Shimmer turns and sees Toriel.

"Good morning, Miss. Toriel!" She said. She waved hello and continues walking.

"Let us walk." Celestia said. She smiled as she began walking. Toriel nods and follows. Toriel was going to say something, when her stomach growled. She laughs nervously.

"And I just ate too. But I could go for some more." She said.

"Let's head to the cafeteria for a quick bite then, shall we?" Celestia asked. Toriel nods in agreement.

"TORIEL!!" Came three excited, high pitched voices as she suddenly found her legs being hugged by Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom.

"Girls!." Toriel said happily, hugging back.

"Are you subbing again for us?!" Applebloom asked. The three gazed up at her with large, pleading eyes. Toriel nods.

"I am." She said.

"YAY!!" They all cheered.

"Girls! I think Miss, Toriel would like a little space!" Celestia chuckled. Toriel flinches from the volume. The girls continue hugging for a few seconds more before releasing her. Toriel smiles down at them.

"These kids love you, Toriel." Celestia said, laughing slightly.

"What can I say, I have a way with kids." Toriel said, shrugging.

"Maybe they won't mind tagging along with us to the cafeteria?" Celestia asked. The three girls look up at her with pleading eyes.

"Pleeaaassee?!" They pleaded. Toriel warmly smiles at them.

"Ohhh, fine. I can't say no to you three." She said.

"Yay!" The tree cheer again. Toriel smiles happily at the three.

"You three are always energetic." She said.

"They're kids, what did you expect?" Celestia said. Toriel chuckles slightly, smiling.

"That is true." She said. The girls giggled slightly.

"Well, let's go!" Scootaloo said. Toriel nods and walks towards the building.

"Mom!" A familiar young voice yelled, causing her to stop.

"Who's that?" Celestia asked. Toriel turns around and her eyes widen. She sees Asgore and Asriel.

"A...Asgore!? A...Asriel!?" She asked.

"What? Twilight told us you were here." Asgore said. He walks up to her and hugs her. Asriel joins in the hug. Toriel has a wide smile as she hugs back. The smile turns sad as she hugs tighter.

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have disappeared like that." She sniffed.

"It's okay, Toriel. Let's hope Chrysalis DOES come back. Maybe we can prove Celestia wrong. I...I changed...right?" Asgore asked. Toriel nods and leans her head against Asgore. Asriel walks up to Principle Celestia. Asgore smiles and scratches lightly behind one of her ears.

"Notice I'm not wearing my armor?" he asked. Principal Celestia kneels down with a smile.

"What's your name?" She asked. Toriel sighs happily.

"You look much better without it." She said. Asriel has a smile.

"I'm Asriel!" He said.

"Thanks." Asgore said, leaning his head on Toriel as well. "I think I'm liking being a pony. It's different. Well...when I'm in the other Equestria." He said.

"What a cute name!" Principle Celestia said. Toriel closes her eyes with a smile. Asriel notices that the other people were taking pictures with cameras and phones.

"Wanna go back to our new home?" Asgore asked.

"Don't worry about them, okay? May I have a hug? You just look so adorable!" Celestia squeed.

"Principle Celestia asked if I could sub, and I agreed." Toriel said. Asriel rolls his eyes.

"Well, all right." She said.

"Alright." Asgore said. He smiles and kisses her forehead.

"I love you." He said as he places a hand on her cheek. Celestia smiles and pulls him into a gentle hug. Toriel looks at him with a smile.

"I love you too." She said. Asriel smiles and hugs back.

"You should get going then, okay?" Asgore said.

"Cutie." Celestia smiles and stands back up. Toriel has and idea.

"Well, why don't you stay here with me?" She asked. Asriel is still getting hugged by Celestia.

"Can't. I gotta take Frisk and Asriel to school in a little bit." Asgore said. Toriel nods in understanding. Celestia Holds Asriel in her arms, carrying him back over to Asgore and Toriel. Asriel looks around. Asgore hugs her tighter.

"I love you so much." He said.

"I love you so much too." Toriel said. Celestia smiles at Asriel as she's carrying him.

"Guess you should go with your father?" She asked. Asriel nods.

"I'm sorry...for...all of my past mistakes...I never thought you'd take me back..." Asgore sniffed. Toriel looks at him slightly sternly.

"Asgore Dremmur! I told you to stop looking into the past, okay? look into the future, I mean look at us, we have our family back. Even Frisk!" She said.

"Shall I put you down, then?" Celestia asked.

"If you want, they seem to be talking." Asriel said.

"But she's not the Frisk you knew! She's alone now! None of this would have happened if I wasn't so...stupid." Asgore sits and puts his face in his hands and sighs heavily. Toriel sits next to him and places a hand on his shoulder.

"I see." Celestia said as she rubs gently behind his ear, causing Asriel to relax.

"You should be hating me...I even...tried to kill her...she was like your daughter. Your first. A chance to be a mother again after...Asriel...changed...we became such a mess all because of me..." he sniffed.

"I'm sorry...I just...don't feel like I deserve such a wonderful person like you." He said, looking down. Toriel gasps.

"Asgore!" she yells. Asgore lowers his head in shame. Toriel pulls him into a hug. Asgore holds her tight.

"I'm so sorry..." He sniffed. Celestia sets Asriel down. Asriel runs towards Asgore and Toriel. Asgore smiles and pulls Asriel into the hug.

"Hey, buddy." He said.

"It's okay dad, you have us!" Asriel said. Toriel hugs them both.

"Thanks guys...I love you so much." Asgore said happily.

"And we love you too." Toriel said.

"You guys mean so much to me..." Asgore said.

"And you to me." Toriel said.

"You should go no, honey. Wouldn't want the teacher to be late for class." Asgore said. Toriel smiles and nods.

"And you have fun as well." She said.

"Come on, Asriel." Asgore said. He smiles and picks him up. Asriel smiles and nods.

"Say goodbye to mommy!" Asgore said. Asriel waves goodbye.

"Have fun at work mom!" Asriel said. Toriel nods.

"Bye honey!" Asgore holds Asriel close as he walks back through the portal. Toriel has a wide smile and waves as they left.

"We should be getting you and Frisk to school now, huh?" Asgore said. Asriel nods.

"Yep! I don't want to be late for school." he said.

"Luna took Frisk already." Twilight said. Toriel turns towards Celestia.

"I feel a little bit better." She said.

"Then let's go!" The former king of the underground smiled and trotted out of the room. Asriel nods and follows.

"That's good!" Celestia said happily. Toriel nods. Asgore soon arrives at the school, Frisk was waiting.

"Hey, Frisk!" Asriel yells.

"Let us go now." Celestia said. Toriel nods. Principal Celestia smiles and goes into the school with Toriel. Toriel smiles as she looks around.

"Hi brother!!" Frisk yells happily. Asriel pulls Frisk into a small hug. Frisk hugs back happily, nuzzling his chest. Asriel smiles down at her.

"So, what have you planned for after school?" Celestia asked.

"I'll probably head back home, and... apologies to Celestia." Toriel said. Frisk smiles up at him.

"Sounds like a plan." Celestia said. Toriel nods.

"Now, lets not be late for school." Asriel said.

"We're already here, silly filly!" Frisk giggled, tightening her hug. Asriel hugs back tight, but not too tight. Toriel walks around with a smile on her face. Principal Celestia leads Toriel to the cafeteria.

"Let's go now, okay?" Frisk asked. Asriel nods and places Frisk on top of his back. Toriel waves hello to the students, who waves back. Frisk giggles.

"My students have taken quite a liking to you, Toriel." Celestia said. Toriel looks at her.

"Yea? What are they saying?" She asked. Asriel walks towards the school.

"Well, mostly curiosity since a majority of the students haven't seen you yet, but seem rather excited with you teaching here, being from another world and all." Celestia said. Toriel is quite surprised.

"Really?" She asked. Celestia nods. Toriel is thinking as she walks. Celestia arrives at the food counter and grabs a tray for Toriel and herself.

"Oh, I was going to grab one, you didn't have to grab one for me." Toriel said. Celestia hands one to Toriel.

"It's quite alright." she smiles. Toriel takes it.

"Um, alright." She said.

"I hope my students aren't too much for you or anything." Celestia said. Toriel shakes her head.

"Oh no, not at all." She said.

"Good! Are they well behaved?" Celestia asked as she grabbed an apple, a breakfast burrito and a carton of fat free white milk. Toriel nods.

"They are, though I wish some of them would focus on their work instead on their devices." She said.

"Don't get too worked up. Try as hard as you want, they'll do it no matter what." Celestia said. Toriel nods.

"Alright." She said.

"Give them a day less to finish their homework. When they fail to do it, they'll realize their F needs to change. As harsh as it sounds, it works on a great deal of the students." Celestia said as she led Toriel to a table. Toriel sighs in agreement.

"I know, it's just, I still new to this." She said.

"I know, I know, which is why I'm here to help!" Celestia smiles, placing a hand on Toriel's shoulder.

"I know you can do this." She said. Toriel smiles at her.

"Thank you." She said.

"No problem!" Celestia said happily. Toriel sits down at a empty table with Celestia.

"So, what else shall we talk about?" Celestia asked. Principle Celestia clasped her hands together under her chin, her elbows propped up on the edge of the table. Toriel thinks for a bit.

"Hmm." She said.

"Tell me some about your world. Im just as curious as my students are, if not more, Miss. Toriel." Celestia said.

"Well..." Toriel began. She then tells Principal Celestia about her world. Her marriage with Asgore, bearing Asriel, the day when Chara came by and became another family member, the day of the accident, the tragedy of Asriel going to the village and coming back only to die, causing her to tear up, the breakup and living alone in misery for years for a thousand years until frisk came back, watching her leave and finding a tiara with a note, leading up to now.

"Guess I shouldn't have asked..." Celestia said. Toriel notices that her story took most of breakfast, she wipes her eyes.

"Oh, I... I'm sorry, I couldn't control myself." She said.

"It's fine, Toriel! Guess we should be going now, huh?" Celestia asked. Toriel wipes her eyes and nods.

"There is one good part." She said.

"What's that?" Celestia asked.

"Me, Asgore, Asriel and Frisk are one big happy family." Toriel said.

"That's great! Your son is just adorable." Celestia said happily. Toriel nods in agreement.

"That he is." She said. Celestia has a sheepish look on her face.

"Yeah...I got a little carried away and ended up spinning around in circles with him..." She chuckles nervously. Toriel giggles slightly.

"At least be had fun." She said.

"I did too. I assume he's well behaved?" Celestia asked. Toriel nods.

"He is." She said.

"That's good! You seem like a good mother." Celestia said. Toriel smiles proudly.

"Thank you." She said. Celestia looks up at the cock on one of the pillars holding up the ceiling.

"We should get going to prepare for first period." She said. Toriel nods.

"Okay." She said. Principal Celestia stood up and smiled at Toriel. Toriel stood up as well.

"It was nice getting to chat with you again, Toriel!" Celestia said.

"It was nice talking with you too, Principal Celestia. After talking about that, it felt like I got some of the weight off my shoulders." Toriel said.

"I'm glad I could help!" Celestia said happily. Toriel smiles, nods, and walks off towards her classroom.
