Apprehensive little Fluttershy was more than meets the eye. She was a friend, a lover and a boon of strength. Her sweet little smile didn’t mean much to many ponies, most don’t even notice, but for a certain flyer that small, simple smile meant the world.

Rainbow Dash held her head high as adulation rained down upon her and Princess Celestia herself awarded her with her lifelong dream: the badge of an honorary Wonderbolt. The regal mare smiled and gave her a few words of encouragement filling Rainbow with pride. She had earned this.

In the front row sat five jovial ponies, four of them cheered at the top of their lungs while the fifth sat patiently not saying a word. Fluttershy watched her marefriend closely with a hint of sadness tucked away in the farthest corner of her mind. Rainbow Dash bowed at the Princess and shook hooves with her new comrades before taking the stage.

She cleared her throat and spoke into the mic, “Thank you everypony for being here today to celebrate with me.” The citizens of Ponyville cheered. “I couldn’t have done it without my friends who encouraged me to never give up on my dreams.” The four colorful mares clapped and hollered at their mention. “But most of all I want to thank somepony super special.”

Fluttershy’s face heated as she dared a solitary wave at the flyer. “Woohoo!” she cheered in her loudest whisper.

“Fluttershy, I know you hate it when you become the center of attention, but you deserve the applause, too.” Rainbow Dash let go of the mic and started clapping, the audience quickly followed suit and soon all eyes were on the shy little pony. “You stuck by me through thick and thin. Cheering for me and always supporting me in all of my endeavours, I really couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thank you.”
