Chapter One - The New Kid

It was a warm day in late summer on the first day of the new semester at Canterlot High and students were filing in towards the doors. New students were joining and old ones caught up with friends. One student was reclining in the shade of the Canterlot Wondercolts statue. He had green spiky hair and emerald eyes and wore a purple and green blazer with a stylized black flame on the front and black jeans with green and white sneakers. Sitting next to him was an old battered, well loved violin case to which the occupant sat couched in his arms. He was sitting on the edge of the statue tuning his violin when he heard laughter. He turned his head and saw six girls walking together. The boy shrugged and then couched the violin under his chin and put the bow to the strings. He exhaled gently and pulled the bow across the strings and began playing lively tune which caught the attention of the girls as they walked by.

As the final notes of the tune faded into the air, the girls looked impressed and annoyed. They looked at each other and one of them, an orange haired grumped and said to the others, “This new kid obviously doesn’t know the rules around here. We should teach him, right girls?”

A girl with light blue hair struck a pose and said, "Yeah, no one upstages the great and powerful student council!"

Just then, the bell rang and the boy put his violin inside the case, got up, and walked inside to his locker and put his backpack away before shouldering his violin case and walking to his first class, which happened to be music. He took a seat and waited for the other students to file in and pulled out a small journal and started drawing.

A few minutes later, the teacher walked inside, clapped her hands once, and said to the room at large, "Alright students I know you're still all excited from just getting off summer break but we need to get back into the school schedule."

"Anyway I see a lot of familiar faces and also some new ones. But for those who don't know me I'm Ms. Sapphire Shores. Now I'm told we have a transfer student all the way from Prance. A mister Spike De Lis?" Ms. Sapphire looked around and the boy from the statue stood up and students began to mutter. Spike then spotted three of the six girls from before but didn't say anything.

"So tell us Mister De Lis, what part of Prance do you hail from?"

"Oui, I was born in Maris, which is most famous city in Prance Madame." Spike said in a heavy Prench accent.

"So tell us what your family is like?" The teacher asked smiling.

"My papa is Lord Solaris De Lis who is Lord of the company that makes most of the Prench wine that the world buys and my mama is Lady Fleur De Lis who I believe is a model over here." Spike said and the room just went silent.

"WHAT!?!" The room exploded which startled Spike a few seconds.

The class soon settled down and Miss Sapphire cleared her throat and soon the class began. "Alright class today we'll be learning about Niccolò Paganini. Now can anyone here tell me a little about him?" She looked up at the class. Spike looked around and saw no one raising their hand so he raised his.

"Mister De Lis your answer."

The teacher said and Spike stood up. "Niccolò Paganini was born October 27, 1782 and died May 27, 1840. Niccolò was an Italian violinist, violist, guitarist, and composer. He was the most celebrated violin virtuoso of his time, and left his mark as one of the pillars of modern violin technique. His 24 Caprices for Solo Violin Op. 1 are among the best known of his compositions, and have served as an inspiration for many prominent composers." Spike said and the class was quiet as if Spike spoke Prench.

"Correct Mister De Lis." Miss Sapphire said smiling and the class went on to learn more about Niccolò Paganini.

Soon the class was over and Spike looked at his schedule and saw he had a free period. He smiled and headed to the back where he heard there was a garden and everything. Spike soon made it to the area and saw all the different plants, flowers and animals. He soon was sitting on a stone bench and got his violin out. Spike sighed lightly as he began playing a song.

As he played he had his eyes closed and as such, didn't see the animals that were gathering around him to listen nor did he see the door to the garden open and see a girl with purple hair walk in. The young girl saw Spike and sneered. After composing her face to something more pleasant, she walked over to Spike and sat down next to him and tapped him on the shoulder. Spike had just finished his song when he felt the tap on his shoulder. He turned and saw the girl from before. Spike blushed deeply as she was really close and it kinda startled him and he fumbled back and fell onto his back.

"S-sorry I didn't realize you were there." Spike said blushing lightly. "I get so caught up in my music that I hardly pay attention to what is around me." He got back to his feet and dusted himself off. "I'm sorry but I don't believe we've met before I'm Spike De Lis. May I know who you are?" Spike asked looking at the girl. The girl smiled lightly and giggled at Spike's little fall.

"I'm Suri Polomare one of the student council members. We heard there was a transfer student who was in the garden playing lovely music and as such, I decided to look for you." Suri said smiling shallowly. Little did Spike know that this was going to be the beginning of his journey of having six girls falling for him.
