Surfing Lesson

“We’re going to the beach!  We’re going to the beach!”

“Girls, ah know yer excited for goin to the beach, but yall need ta keep it down.  Twi’s already lost as it is.”  Applejack looked over to the three girls putting on sunscreen and couldn’t help but smile.  She couldn’t blame them for getting too excited, it was only their second time ever going to the beach.

“I’m not lost!”  Twilight squeaked, reaching up to adjust her glasses.

“Take a left.”  Rarity hit a couple buttons on her phone trying to figure out the directions to the beach, as Sunset opened the small window from the bed of Applejacks truck.

“Hey Twi, I can see the water. Just turn around and keep going straight.”

Sunset sat back down in the bed, and continued her conversation with Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy, while Twilight performed a u-turn.  Twilight had been driving so that Applejack could sit in the back seat in order to  keep three certain twelve year olds under control. Rarity called shotgun so she could give directions.

Ten minutes later, they finally arrived in the parking lot. “Thanks Sunset.  Now let’s go!”  Twilight jumped up slightly as Rainbow handed her, her bag.

“Seriously Twi, why is your bag so heavy?”  Rainbow mumbled as Twilight took it from her.

“I just have a couple research supplies.”  Twilight insisted holding the bag close to her chest before Rainbow snatched it back and started going through it.  Rainbow took out Twilight’s water, towel, and sunscreen and put the stuff in her own bag, before locking Twilight’s in the back seat of the truck.

        “Hey”

“No Twi.”  Rainbow cut off the whining girl by pointing a finger at her. It was low tech, but effective.  “I have plans for you and Sunset, so let’s get going already.”   Pouting, Twilight reluctantly started heading towards the water with Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle.

Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Scootaloo grabbed their surfboards out of the back of the truck before joining the others.  After they managed to find a spot in the sand, they set up the beach chairs and laid out their towels.  Feeling satisfied with the set up Pinkie handed her board to Twilight while Scootaloo handed hers to Sunset.

“What do you want us to do with these?”  Sunset asked curiously, running her hand up and down the waxy board.

Pinkie laughed as she sat down with Fluttershy to start building sand castles. “You ride on them silly.”

“Come you two, you’re going to learn how to surf.”  Smiling Rainbow handed them each a polyester shirt.

“Put them on, they’re called rashguards.  They will protect you when you fall, and from the sun.”  Rainbow just looked Sunset up and down and shook her head.  “Still can’t believe you wore a bikini when I warned you not to.”

“Now before we go in, put the leash on.  It prevents you from losing your board.”  Undoing the velcro, Sunset and Twilight put theirs around their ankles, while Rainbow put her’s mid calf.

Running into the water, Twilight let out a high pitch shriek as the water hit her legs.  “It’s cold!”

“Duh!  The ocean is cold.”  Smirking, Sunset reached down and splashed some water onto Twilight’s face.  Twilight quickly returned the gesture before slowly going deeper into the water.

“Lay down centered on your board then to paddle, cuff your hands and  as hard as you can thrust your hand into the water, then pull it straight back.”  Sunset and Twilight watched as Rainbow went through the movements.

After a multiple failed attempts, a couple falls, and some light towing for Twilight, they finally managed to gett the hang of it.  A sense of accomplishment washed over Sunset and Twilight as they passed through the impact zone, and into calmer water.

“Now time for the fun part.”  Rainbow called out while looking over her shoulder.  “How to catch a wave.  When you see the wave forming, you’re going to want to paddle as hard as you can.  When you feel the board's tail lifting up, push yourself up and find your footing.  I know this is your first time, and you can’t be as awesome as I am, so don’t worry if you fall.  Here comes your first wave, hope you guys are ready.”

“Yes!”  Sunset started paddling as Twilight shook her head rapidly. Sunset continued to paddle until she felt the tail rise, pushing herself up she underestimated the power of the wave and face planted in the water, while Twilight just duck dived under the wave.

“Sunset! Are you alright?”  Twilight yelled going over to her friend, as Sunset managed to get to her board again. Sunset started coughing violently for a moment before looking over to her friend.

“Yeah, I’m good Twi.  Just swallowed some water when it rolled me.  Finally getting her breathing under control again, Sunset started laughing.

“That was a lot harder then I expected.”  Hoisting herself up onto the board,  she couldn’t help but watch Twilight’s face turn crimson as she let  out a small squeak. Twilight turned around and covered her face with her hands.

“What’s wrong?”  Twilight pointed down and Sunset let out a scream.  “My bikini bottom...where is it?!”  Jumping in the water, she quickly dove under only to realize that she couldn’t see anything.

“It must have gotten knocked off by the wave.”  Twilight started to peek through her fingers, finally lowering her hands when she knew that she couldn’t see Sunset’s lower body anymore.

“Eep!”

“Don’t worry, I’ll figure something out.”  Twilight looked around hoping to see any sign of the missing bathing suit.

“No, that’s not it.  These stupid fish are biting me!  I know I need more exercise, but this isn’t exactly what I had in mind.”  Jerking every couple of second, Sunset spun in circles trying to swat the fish away to no avail.

“Hey Sunset!  Get back on your board. You can’t quit because of one fall.”  Rainbow paddled up by then, before sitting up and wringing out her hair.  Rainbow watched Sunset’s face suddenly redded, her eyes wide as she glanced to Twilight.

“Ok, I feel like I’m missing something.”

Twilight let out a little giggle.  “It’s not you that’s missing something.”

“Twilight!”  Sunset shrieked, hitting her head on the surfboard.  Rainbow and Twilight burst up laughing, as Sunset let out a groan.  “Now I know why you said no bikini.  Hey thanks, you scared the fish away”

“Let me go see what I can find.”  Looking behind her, Rainbow saw a wave forming.  “After one more ride.”  Paddling off, the girls could hear Rainbow starting laugh again before doing some flips off the top of the barrel.  A couple minutes later, the wave died and she finally managed to get back to shore.

“Wait.  Hey Twi, she isn’t going to tell anyone. Is she?”  Looking over to Twilight who had been adjusting her glasses again,  the elastic band she had tied around the arms to keep her glasses from falling off had tangled in her ponytail.

Watching the shore they both noticed their rainbow haired friend running up to their little group, and a second later half of them fell down laughing.

 “Nevermind.”

“Hey Sunset. This might sound a little weird but I have and idea.”

Sunset swam over to Twilight and rested against the board.  “I’m scared to ask, but if it gets me home without anyone else seeing me naked, then I’m in.”

Twilight involuntarily looked away, rubbing her hands together meekly before taking a deep breath.

“Well my bathing suit is a one piece, it’s just keyhole shaped.  I’m just wearing my board shorts so that the salt water won’t cause a rash.  I know the shorts are too small for you, but I can give you my one piece. It’s stretchy so It’ll fit you, and I’ll still be covered between my shorts and the rash guard.” As Twilight finished explaining, her face turned a deep red as she started making little circles in the water with her hand.

“So essentially you are going to get undressed in front of me, so that I can take your bathing suit?  Correct?”  Twilight nodded slightly, as Susnet thought about the offer for a moment.

“Well at least this isn’t the first time we’ve seen each other naked.  I’m honestly surprised that you reacted like you did.  I mean that experiment…”  Sunset was cut off by a face full of water, as Twilight splashed her.

“You’re making it sound like we did something bad!  All we did was compare our bodies for differences caused by interdimensional travel, and the similarities from transforming into demons.  The way you’re saying it, it just sounds awkward.”

Jumping into the water in case the others looked their way, Twilight started taking off her shirt and shorts.  Handing the clothes to Sunset so she wouldn’t lose them, she started to take off her bathing suit.  Shivering, Twilight handed Sunset the bathing suit, while she took her clothes back. Holding the shirt in her mouth, Twilight pulled up her shorts, and was about to put her shirt back on when she noticed Sunset handing her the bikini top.

“It gets pretty uncomfortable for girls in one of those shirts without something else on.”

Nodding, Twilight accepted the top. Sliding the top string over her head she turned around so Sunset could tie the back.  “Thanks.”

“I should be the one thanking you Twilight.”  Sunset giggled as she finished pulling up the bathing suit.

“Can we go back now please?  I’m freezing.” Twilight pulled herself back up on her board and started paddling towards the shore.

“Yes please.  I need food.”  Sunset got back onto her board and quickly joined Twilight, before realizing the Rainbow had been coming back to them.

“Sorry Sunset, I couldn’t find...isn’t that Twilight’s?”

“Well I’m not going to go back without anything on.”  Sunset started paddling around Rainbow.

Rainbow looked over to Twilight who could only grin before heading towards the shore again. “I was just going to tell you that you look hot in it!”  Rainbow yelled before turning around and  joining them.

The three girls felt the wave lifting up their surfboards and decided why not.  Pushing themselves up, Rainbow managed to catch the wave and started showing off her tricks.  Sunset smiled as she actually managed to stay on for a few moments, while Twilight was just thrown off.

“Not bad Sun. Might just make a surfer out of you yet.”  Rainbow chuckled as she joined the group.  “Also Twi?”

Biting her lip, she backed away a little “Yes?”

“Stick with books egghead.”

“No problem.” The rest of the way back to the shore had been relatively quiet, except for a soft giggle from one of them.

“Darling, why are you wearing Twilight swim suit?”  Rarity held her hand to her mouth so that Sunset couldn’t see her smiling.

“I know you all know, so just let me have it.  I would also like to remind you that I have information on all of you that I’m more than happy to share.”

“And here ah thought ya weren’t evil anymore.”  Applejack laughed looking Susnet up and down.

Sunset and Twilight sat down on the towels and started taking the leashes off, while Rainbow just laid down on her board next to the chairs.

“Speaking of evil, where’d the troublesome three go?”  Rainbow asked looking around the beach.

“They’re getting lunch.”  Fluttershy explained while she added more sand to the castle her and Pinkie had been working on.

“Actually, here they come.”  Twilight pointed in the direction of the pier, as the three girls walked their way.

“Hope you’re hungry!”  Scootaloo called out running up, and handing everyone a container with a burger and some fries.

Rarity noticed Sweetie Belle going right over to her bag, and messed around with something inside. Walking over Rarity saw that Sweetie had a notebook, and was writing something down while giggling.

“Sweetie, may I inquire what you’re doing?”  The sudden voice making Sweetie Belle jump.

“Oh, it’s nothing.  Why don’t you go eat before Rainbow steals your burger?”  Sweetie grinned as she pointied to Rainbow eyeing her box.

“Don’t you dare touch that Rainbow Dash!”
