Good Day to whomever shall be reading this! I am Higgins, a Zebra. I live in the same town as my dear Zecora used to live. You may think that I look a lot like her, all gray, but you my friend, are very very wrong. I have stripes colored black, my mane and tail are faded yellow. Top the darkest bottom the lightest shade. My fur is white other than my stripes, and my eyes are a faint orange.
I love to read books! I also like sports, not any but just Football and track. I don't enjoy being forced into things... And, Well, between you and I, I have a terrible fear for heights. Now about my extra instinct.... I have magic. Not unicorn magic, something a lot much more powerful. A ball that matches my eye colour literally comes out my hoof, and if I throw it at anyone or anyplace, it would give me or do what I was just thinking of.
Now, let me tell you my story. You may need to get a blanket or popcorn for this, it's gonna be long.
Ever since I was little, a lot was expected from me. My parents told me that I had to grow up to be just as important as they were,that I had to not only be strong, but smart. And as I said before, I hate being pushed into things I don't wanna do. To my mom, all I have ever been is a throphy to show off. And to my dad, I'm just a back up plan so nothing of his goes to any he wouldn't liked it to go to when he dies. I was required to always have straight A's in every single one of my classes, which really wasn't ever a problem to me since I really enjoyed studying and books. One day I got a bad grade in one of my pop quizzes, and my parents locked me up in their library. I was hungry, thirsty, sleepy, and anything you can think of, but I read.
The same day as I looked around in the library, I found a book that was cover in dust. I took it out and blew the dust off. Just as I did that, it started to glow letters. It read "THE LEGEND OF THE MAGICIAN'S SOURCE, WARNING:This book may only open up and work on whomever it wants to" I remember being really confused and curious... So the book let me open it. The library blew up in with lights. They all came back to the book and curled up in a ball in front of me.
I slowly moved my hoove towards it and it pulled itself into my hooves. The ball was suddenly gone, instead, my hooves tinkled with a brand new feeling. I looked at the book full of words and started reading it, relazing everything I should know about this... New me.
I have limited use to the balls of my magic. 20 per day and the filled up each night exactly at 12:00 AM. And my magic would only work if the book was still in its mint condition. Anything other than that was never restricted.
Now about Zecora, she met me A few days after I got my power. She called me "Lost Boy" because she saw my inner soul, and she knew that I wasn't happy with whom I was destined to be. Yet she knew that soon, I would find my place with many other "creatures".
Zecora has been like my mentor since then. We are very far away, but we manage to keep in touch either way.
Today, just as I was reading a book inside my family's library I got a message from her, sent by an Equestrian bird. I was very surprise the thing made it alive all the way to here. It gave me a letter hoof written by the one and only Zecora. It said that she thought that she might have found the group of "creatures" that would help me fulfill my future. She said that they were all filled with supernatural unexplained magic just as I was and that they were using it to save Equestria.
I smiled as I said to myself, "This is it! My chance to use my magic expand it, and well... Escape THIS prison." I sighed as I realized that no one was home. All the maids were getting super done, my dad was at work, like always, and my mom.... She was probably shopping. I decided that if I was planing on leaving anytime soon, it was right now. I got up, ran to my room, and started packing. I got my magic book, a few changes of clothes, some of my other favorite books, a comb, toothbrush, and, God pardon me for this, some money ,my dad had hidden in his office.
I wrote a quick note saying where I was going, why, and a few "kind" words to my parents about what they had been using me for these past years. I left the note in the library on top of the book was just reading, then I grabbed the bag I out my stuff in and literally ran all the way to my nearest train station.
I took the next train to the city closest to Equestria. There is no train to Equestria, since most Zebras whom live here are extremely scared to go there. Though it isn't too far from inbetween borders. Only 13 miles, taking a shortcut.
I honestly couldn't believe I was doing this. It was so exiting..! Yet, I can't imagine the look on my mother's and father's face once they read that note. If they are in the same schedule as always... They would most likely read it in 3-4 hours. I chuckled to myself as I realized that by then, they would be way too late to do anything. I would be in Manehattan. Once I got to Manehattan, I would take a train to Canterlot. And from Canterlot I would go to Ponyville, where it would be rather easily to find Zecora.
I got my book of magic out and started reading over it. Carefully, flipping each page and reading each word that describes me. Not just me. New me.

Zecora trotted over to the Townhall. She was looking for the Mayor, she wants to tell her the news about the Lost Boy. She walked into her office and greeted her. "Hello Mayor. I think I may have a way to help in within the meeting from yesterday. I remember this Zebra from my town that met before I came to live here, he was just given his powers, but he wasn't happy with his family. I sent him a note regreting the Super Ponies, and he is coming to meet us."
Mayor instantly seemed interested in the subject. "What? Why didn't you say so sooner Zecora? What are his powers? And his name? When is he coming? Wait, do you mean to tell me he's coming here without his parents consern?"
"Well I just got informed that he still lives and I sent him a note as soon as I could. My bird messenger told me he was packing his stuff and getting ready to come here, and his powers are a bit hard to explain. You would need to meet him yourself to get to know them. His real name is Higgins, though I call him, Lost Boy. And unfortunately, yes, he came without his parents knowing about it." Zecora carefully said as she walked towards the door, "I'm sorry Mayor, I must go, you see, I will meet him in the Canterlot Train station." Zecora left the room.
"But how do you know that he's stopping at Canterlot?" Mayor looked outside the door but the Zebra was long gone. She sighed, "Zebras..."

I awoke when the train stopped, I looked up and realized that I was already here, the border of my town. I got my backpack and left the train. Then, I started to walk towards Manehattan, Equestria, leaving my family back behind. I walked and walked and walked until I saw a border bridge and a sign that said "Manehhatan, Equestria." I smiled to myself and slowly entered the Equestrian borders.
As I walked in a few gaurds stared at me, but didn't do anything. I walked all the way to where I saw a train station and bought a ticket to the next train going to Canterlot.
I once more got into a train, this one would be a lot much longer to get to. The trip was three and a half hours, when the last one had only been an hour. But I didn't have a problem with the timing of the trip, I just wanted to get to Canterlot safely because my parents had most likely already read my letter, and right about now, they were freaking out. Nah, they probably didn't even care.
They probably won't find it until they BOTHER looking for me. Which will take them a while. And if they do care about the contents of that letter, then they would be way too late. I'm already in Equestria, and on my way to Canterlot.
You're probably asking yourself how I kno many of Equestria's city names. Well let's just say that thanks to Zecora, and my thoughts on Traveling, I learned all of them. But well, I am in Baltimare, I should stop talking and worrying and enjoy my wonderful sorroundings.

The train was now 10 minutes away from Canterlot. And I was packing my stuff in my backpack once more. The train suddenly stopped, and I and the rest of the ponies went down. I honestly saw a few giving me a frown and a yuck stare, but I didn't care.
I was suprised to see my one and only mentor, Zecora, sitting on a bench waiting for me in the Canterlot train station "Why Hello Higgins. It's been a while eh? You've grown so much." She scratched her hoof against my yellow mane meanwhile I sat there a little annoyed. I didn't enjoy people touching my mane.
"I'm glad to see you too,Zecora. And thank you. But could we please get going on to the next train? I am really tired. I had to walk from the border of our town to Equestria's border, which is like, 13 or so miles." I yawned as I stretched a bit.
"Sure Lost Boy, but don't you want to get a treat before we leave?" She pointed to the conssesion stand with her hooves full of rings.
I looked the way she pointed and nodded. "Yes please! I am famished!" I got up and walked over. I ordered a water and a hay sandwich and payed the kind Colt serving.
Just as I was doing that, Zecora got our tickets and we sat in the bench once more, waiting for our train to pass by.

By the time we got to Ponyville, and to the Mayor's office,it was night. It had been 7 hours since I hadn't been home, and 5 since I've enter Equestria. So, I'm very sorry if my manners weren't THE BEST when I met the Mayor.... "Hello Higgens, Zecora has told me a lot of great things about you, would you like me to explain what's going on?" Said the Mayor as I yawned.
"I think I know enough M-Mayor...-" my sentence interrupted by one more yawn, "Zecora makes her letters more amplified and large enough to be a book...." Both of the mares frowned at me as my head swang low and I yawned.
"O-Ok then.... So, would you be ok with showing us your powers? I believe Zecora already knows them, but I would like to see how sharp you are at using them." Mayor Mare said kindly. I nodded and got up.
I put both my hooves together and rubbed them 3 circular times. Just as that my ball of magic came to life. I, without thinking, threw it.
Right then at that moment I wished I could have been dead. I had never been so embarresed in my life. Instead of something cool coming out, like a sword, or a pony, a bed came out the ball. I heard a soft chuckle coming from Zecora and I mumbled.
"I have reasons to believe that he is very tired from his long trip, Mayor Mare. Would you mind giving him another chance to show off what he can do tomorrow?" Zecora said with a smirk on her face.
"Sure. I don't blame him. Farthest I have gone is from Ponyville to the Canterlot Castles, and I was extremely tired that day." The Mayor smiled at me, then back at Zecora.
"Th-Thank you...." I said in a somewhat yawn as I rubbed my eyes and walked out the office with Zecora.
"Well, until we find the rest of the recruits, you and the other mare will be staying at my place over in the Everfree Forest. She should be here just about now with Spitfire...." Zecora said as my eyes widened.
"There's a mare? What powers does she have? Is she a pony? Earth? Pegasus? Unicorn? Or maybe even a-" Zecora put a hoof in my mouth and chuckled.
"She can see the future. But as far as we know she can only do it at night time, because the stars are her power source. And yes, she's a pony, a unicorn. And heads up, if she DOES see the future in front of you, goo will come out her eyes, horn, and tail.... Also, she's got a deer tail." Zecora explained the mare as carefully as she could based on what she knew.
"Oh she seems amazing! I can't wait to meet her...!" I said exitedly, yet still sleepy.
"You won't have to wait a lot my dear, she's right there." She pointed over to a corner where Spitfire and Starry Mint stood. Zecora and I walked over to them.
See, I was so exited I could have ran over to them, but that would only make me look like a fool, and I had already embarrassed myself enough tonight.
"Hello, such a pleasure to meet you both! I am Higgins." Stretched my hoof out and so did the Pegasus do first.
"Hey kiddo, I'm Spitfi-" I cut her off
"Spitfire, leader of the Wonderbolts, the fastest Pegasus in Equestria, I know. I just got here but I have studied Equestrian history for the past few years." I said confidently as both mare seemed impressed and Zecora clapped a little.
"This is Higgens,I am his mentor. He lives I the same town as I used to. He is a wonderful colt." She smiled at both mares.
"I-I'm Starry Mint." The mare said and she stood in front of me. God, was she short.
"Nice to meet you. I have heard about your powers, and I think there might be a way to expand them..." I said as her eyes lit up with joy.
"Really? I have always wished to know more about my powers..." The unicorn's smiled widened.
"Yeah, but could we please get going? I traveled more than I should have today, and I'm really tired." I said as Zecora nodded.
"Thank you for bringing her Spitfire. I will take them to my home now so the can get some rest." Zecora said joyfully.
"No need to thank me.... " Spitfire smiled as she left.
Zecora then lead us on to her house, all the way there, I told Starry about my powers. Yet I never got the guts to tell her anything about my parents or what had I been through just to get here, and feel like I'm useful for something.
