Chapter 4

'I truly hope Luna can forgive me for saying what I said to her. I was angry that she just came in there like that. But what is done is done.' I thought to myself as I walked down to hall. I'm heading to talk with the scholars and Luna. I'm sure they have some things to talk about.

I got to the door that leads into the meeting room, I took a deep breath and opened the doors. As soon as I did, everypony looks at me. I walked in and looked back at all of them.

“Alright. I'm sure there are things you wish to speak about, but first and foremost, Luna, I am sorry for saying what I said to you, it was unlawful for me to do so.” I said to Luna, she just shrugged lightly.

“It is fine, dearest sister." I detected a bit of sarcasm. "Let us move on to the reason why we are all here.” Luna said.

“Yes, Princess Celestia. You of all ponies know the rules of royalty. And you know it's against to rules to be with somepony that isn't of royalty.” One of the scholars said. “And even though he is a 'human' the rules still apply.”

“I believe I am allowed to do as I please. It has been..." I was just about to say 'centuries' but even a lady as old as me has a hard time admitting her age, "...centuries," I say, acting as though I were thinking about how long it was, "...since anypony has courted me."

It was true, though. It had been centuries, and it felt like an eternity, but I'm used to that feeling. Sadly, these days everypony sees me as either a relic or just a figurehead. Perhaps that's what made Tyler different. When I first caught him glaring naughtily at my backside, I felt something that I had not felt in a long time. Maybe I had felt it before that moment, but I probably suppressed it. It was a spark, that first feeling of attraction, which might develop into love. Not sisterly love, or the love of my subjects, but the kind of love that only a mare and a stallion could have... er, you know what I mean. And I'm not stupid, I know what will happen, it's the curse of immortality. But I should know better than anypony else, that the age-old phrase is indeed true. 'Tis better to have loved and lost...

"I've been lonely, so forgive me for finding someone I can call my special somepony.” I said with a firm tone. I wanted to make it clear that I wasn't going to back down from being with Tyler, the one thing in this age that truly makes me feel alive.

“We can understand that you get lonely Princess, but that doesn't mean you can be reckless like this.” The scholar said.

“Reckless? Reckless!? You can't be serious. Me dating him is considered being reckless!?” I said, raising my voice at them. Luna gave me a look that I haven't seen in a long time.

“Yes dear sister. And seeing how uptight you are about all this is making me wonder if you're even still fit to wear the crown.” When Luna said that, it made me gasp. Did she really just say I was unfit to wear the crown?

“Excuse me!?” I glared angrily at Luna. “How dare you speak this way to me!”

“I am not the only one who thinks thusly sister.” Luna looked over at the scholars and they all looked up at me.

“Is this true?” I said to them, they all nodded.

“Princess Celestia, we all feel that you are deemed unfit to be the ruler of Equestria and ask that you think carefully about this because we're only giving you a few options here.” One scholar said.

“What...!? This is unbelievable!" I was completely enraged. I was sorely tempted to bring down the fury of the sun and burn all those scholars alive right then. But I knew better than that. "I will not stand for this. I am staying with Tyler and I am keeping my crown!” I said to them and turned around. “I have spoken and I do not want to hear another word about this.” I left the room. As I did I could hear Luna growling slightly. I had a bad feeling about her because I could sense something in her... Something I haven't sensed in a long while.

“Guard, please bring Tyler here.” I said to one of the royal guards. He nodded and went to go get him. It was time to talk to the people and let them know what was going on. They may not like it but they're just going to have to deal with it.

A few moments later, the guard walked up to me with Tyler, I turned to look at him and forced a smile. I nodded to the guard to leave and he did so.

“Hey, Princess. Is everything alright?” He said to me, wrapping his arms around me. I smiled and snuggled into him, putting my own hooves around him.

“Yes, everything is and will be. The only thing left to do is tell the ponies here.” I said and smiled, I let go of him and walked over to the door that led out to a balcony in front of the castle. He followed me as I opened the door and walked outside.

“Look it's the Princess!” One pony said and then another.

I took a deep breath and looked over at them. “Citizens of Canterlot. I am here to talk to you about the rumors that you have been hearing." I paused for dramatic effect, "They are true.” All the ponies gasped and started to talk among themselves. Tyler walked up beside me and looked down at them all. “I am not backing down from this. And I hope you all can see things the way I do with this. That is all, citizens.” I said to them. I turned around and walked back inside with Tyler. I could hear them all asking questions about how will this affect my ruling or how will others see me now since I am with someone.

“Princess... how did the talk go with your sister and the others?” Tyler asked me, I looked up to him and sighed.

“They think I am unfit to wear the crown because they think I was reckless for being with you.” I said as I leaned against him.

“Are they going to make you give up your crown?” He asked, I almost laughed.

“Of course not. They can't MAKE me do anything. I can do as I please and I shall stand by you.” I said with a smile and kissed him on the lips. He smiled and kissed back. “How is Twilight? Is she alright?” I asked after breaking the kiss.

“She left shortly after you did, Princess... She was still upset about earlier.” He said, sighing slightly. I did the same.

“Curses... I wish she didn't leave... I need to talk to her about what she did, and another thing that worries me...” I said looking out the window.

“What is it?” He asked.

“My sister... She is rather upset about all this and not only does she disagree with the others on this, I felt... something inside her that could be very troublesome to not only me... But Equestria...” I explained to him, now thinking I shouldn't have said what I said in the meeting room with her.

“Are you talking about somewhere along the likes of 'Nightmare Moon'?” I looked at him with a worried look and nodded.

“The fact that she is getting worked up by all this and everything that I have said to her could bring back her back to Nightmare Moon... But I hope that isn't the case...” I explained to him, The mere thought of Nightmare Moon coming into play with all this scared me. Because with Twilight being as she is, I don't know how the Elements would work... This truly put me at some discomfort.

“Princess, I'm sure it's not. Everything is going to work out for the best. I mean like you said they can't make you stop seeing me and the Elements of Harmony destroyed the evil in your sister. The chances of her coming back are little to none. So you have nothing to worry about, right?” Tyler said to me, trying to be reassuring and comforting. It worked. For the moment.

“Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm glad I have someone like you Tyler.” I said to him and hugged him. Today has surely been a rough one and I think we both could use some time to ourselves. But before that happens, there's something that needs to be done.

When we got back to my room, Tyler went over to the window and stared out of it.

“So, what now?” He asked.

“I need to write a letter to Twilight, so this will take a few minutes. After that I know of a way that we both can relax.” I said in a somewhat seductive tone. He blushed and chuckled, looking back out the window. I went over to my table and took out a parchment, quill, and ink.

'Dear Twilight Sparkle,

I am writing to you to say that I am truly sorry for everything that has happened to you. I do not blame you for doing what you did and you need not to worry about it. What is done is done and I still would like to talk to you about what happened. But for now I want you to gather your friends and be ready to come to Canterlot. There is something that is worrying me and I want to be sure I'm prepared for whatever it might bring.

Sincerely, Princess Celestia.'

I read over the letter real quick and then used my magic to send the letter. Now since that was out of the way, I could finally relax for a little bit with the one person I wanted to be with.
