Lyra and Bon Bon were comforting Colin under a tree not far from Ponyville about the loss of his Ordon shield that was destroyed by a fire keese. "Come on, Colin." Said Lyra. "So what if your shield's gone, it doesn't mean it's the end of the world."

"Yeah. I'm pretty sure that you'll find a new one when you get back to Hyrule. That's all." Bon Bon added.

"I know. I know." Colin sighed "but that shield was special to me." He remembered the time Link gave it to him when he no longer needed it when he got the Hylian shield with him instead. "This was Link's shield, and now it's gone forever."

Lyra wrapped her arm around the young Hylian's shoulders "it's okay. Link's not mad at you. It was just a piece of wood. Besides, he's right. You just need a new shield that's better for you."

"Lyra's right." Said Bon Bon. "Maybe there's another shield like Link's, right?"

Colin sighed and nodded his head sideways "no." He replied flatly. "That shield was the only one on stock."

"Oh." They said in unison, starting to understand his sadness a little more.

"Well, come on. I'm pretty sure they can make a new shield like that one." Bon Bon reassured. "You still have your sword."

"Yeah, that's what helps you get all the bad guys." Lyra gave him a gentle punch on his left arm. 

"True. That's true." Colin agreed. "You guys are right. I shouldn't worry about it too much. I'm pretty sure mom and dad will understand."

"There you go." Said Bon Bon. "Besides, I'm pretty sure you can fight bad guys with just you sword, and with slink fighting alongside you."

"We saw how you did with that lizard monster and how well you fought."

Colin smiled. It was a rather wonderful time to do that to an enemy like that for the first time in his life. "Yeah. I guess." Then with a change of demeanor, he said "you're rig. I just need a more invincible shield that won't melt."

"That's the Colin we wanted to bear!" Lyra said proudly. "So, you want to go back and tell the others your feeling better? They're worried about you."

"Yeah, really concerned." Bon Bon added

"Hmmm. You guys can go ahead without me, I'm going to go out for a walk a little while."

"You sure?"

"Hmm-mmm. And tell Link and the others I'm alright. Okay?"

"Okay." Said Bon Bon."

"You got it, Colin." Lyra replied. "Come on, Lyra. Let's go."

"See ya soon." Bon Bon said to the boy before they both let him be. Colin decided to go walk in the woods nearby (That is not part of the Everfree forest.) there, he found a small lake with a waterfall flowing through a ledge above it.

He looked over the waters and witnessed the beauty of it, the small fish swimming around it within. He smiled briefly and looked at his reflection of himself. Colin hardly took his eyes of the lake and felt more calm

Yes, he could do this until the end of time, day after day if he wanted to. He saw a little cichlid jump out of the water, then back into it with a soft splash. Colin laughed

"Hello, Colin." Said a humble voice. The Boy was startled, and looked back, and he saw the Hero's shade. Of course, he out it was a stalfos, and took out his sword to defend himself.

"What- what do you want from me?" Colin asked him suspiciously

The shade chuckled humbly "it's alright. Child. i will not hurt you. I heard you have a little problem, and I am at your aid."

"Who are you?"

"I.... May not look like him, but, I.... Am the Hero of Time."

Colin's eyes went wide. He didn't really believe it was the Hero of Time because he wasn't wearing his green clothes and white suit underneath it. "I...... Don't think you're him." He replied

"I knew you would be skeptical. Well, let me show you." Then some light blinded Colin and after that was over, an ocarina was playing the Song of Healing, then Colin saw the new form that the ghost was taking. the Hero of Time looked like Link except his hair was more yellow in color, and his clothes were lighter green. Since he only had one eye, he was wearing an eyepatch over the one that was lost, with only one eye showing. He looked older than Link, and was in his mid to late twenties. He stopped his ocarina playing when he asked "well? Do you believe me, now?"

Colin smiled "yeah. I do." He said in awe. He couldn't believe that it was him, the hero from the past. "Sorry if I didn't believe you."

"That's quite alright, Colin. I expected that, actually." Hero of Time Link said. "I have been watching you ever since Link and you became friends."

"Really?"

"Yes. You are like a little brother to him, you noticed."

"Yeah, I did know that. Hey, listen, I'm sorry if you were not remembered as a Hero like you should have been when you defeated Ganondorf a long time ago."

"Thank you." Said the hero. "That is very kind of you. It is sad that I am not remembered for doing a great deed." He turned his head away from the boy in shame "it was all because I had to focus on Navi, and finding her in any way I can, but to no avail."

"You mean.... You haven't found her?"

The Hero shook his head a no in reply "I finally gave up searching her and had to face the fact that it was the way it had to be."

"I'm sorry."

"That's quite alright. Now that my descendant has helped me be realized with his new skills taught by me, I will not be in vain anymore."

"Good."

"Now, to your little problem."

"You know about what happened to my shield?"

"Of course. Link is like a brother to you, isn't he? I would help and watch over to those who Link would consider his family to him.

"Oh. I see. So, you can help me with a new shield?"

"Of course. You have a good heart, Colin, and you would help anyone in need, so I decided to give you something a little special. Now, you might want to take a step back" then he used his hand to create some thing rather peculiar and magical. A flash of light appeared over his hand and it revealed to be a new shield for Colin to have. It looked like Link's Hylian shield, but it was a little smaller, and looked a little more abstract in design. The eagle was way larger and more hunch than the one on Link's, and the Triforce was below the bird, not above.

"Wow." Colin said in awe. This looked like a perfect shield for him to have instead of the Ordon one.

"This shield was mine when I was a kid like you when I saved Termina from Majora. But.... I do not ink I will have any use for it anymore." The hero bent down to Colin's level with the shield still hovering over his hand. "I hereby gift this to you for your kindness and courage."





Colin got the Hero's Shield! It looks like the adult Hylian shield but it is child size for his age. It is invincible and never melts in fire or lava. Used by the Hero of Time himself when he was a kid, this will help Colin protect him from anything

"A gift for you, Colin." said the hero. 

Colin put it over his right arm, and it fit him perfectly. A shield fit for a child Colin's age. He posed in a mighty stance like Link with do now that he has the new piece of protection. "I.... don't even know what to say." 

"You remind me alot of myself when a was your age." Said the hero. "Keep this shield as a gift from me for your courage and selflessness, Colin."

The boy smiled "I will. Thank you so much. But.... you really want me to have this?"

"Of course I do. I have no use for it anymore anyway, and it is meant for a child such as yourself. Remember, I will always be there to guide you, and Link if needed." Then began to fade into nothingness like a ghost would do. The Hero of Time Link then said "always. Farewell."

Colin was so grateful to have this gift from the Hero of Time himself. The best part was, he got to meet him in person. Well, in spirit, Literally and figuratively. Truly one of the boy's unforgettable moments of his lifetime. Perhaps they will meet again someday. Only time will tell when they were cross paths once more.

He put his sword away and his new shield over it on his back. "I gotta go tell Link and the guys about my new shield. Probably worried about me." He thought out loud to himself. Then he went out if the woods and went back to Fluttershy's cottage. As he was walking through town, he noticed something odd in an alleyway close by. It looked like Link's shadow sort of.

He went down the place where the shadow went, and ironically, there was no sign of Link. This was rather strange because he was sure he saw Link's shadow, so he had to be here.

"Ah, hello, Colin." said Link's voice. 

"Link? I can here you, but I can't see you. Where are you?"

"Right here." then he saw Link's shadow under Colin's and it turned to face forward to him. The shadow's eyes flashed red with the look of evil. Suddenly, the shadow suddenly, came up from the ground, and it turns out, this was no shadow of Colin. He was absolutely stunned to see this impostor. This creature looked like Link, except, he and his clothing were all black with only his eyes glowing blood red. His Hylian Shield had nothing on it, and the Master sword he was carrying had an upside down Triforce as the symbol near the handle

"You're.... you're not Link." Colin said. Indeed, it was not his brotherly figure. The Link he knew would never have an evil grin on his face, or have two sharp teeth in his mouth. "Who.... who are you?"

"Who am I?" the shadow said in mock insult. "Why, I am you're worst nightmare, of course! Dark Link"

Colin unsheathed his sword and new shield. "I'm not afraid of you." he retorted

"You got guts, I'll give you that, but stupid since you're just a kid." he chuckled wickedly.

"We'll see about that!" Colin charged at him full of zeal. He clashed his sword with the evil twin of Link, but he was easily overpowered, and knocked to the ground.

"Hmm, I was expecting far better. Well, nice knowing you, kid." Dark Link was about to kill him when he heard another sword clash that was louder than before. Colin opened his eyes and looked up to see the real Link protecting him from this evil impostor.

"Link?" the boy said, more than happy to see him.

"I'm here, Colin." Link said, struggling. Then Twilight, her friends, and Discord went to his aid, noticing Dark Link

"What the huh, TWO Link's?" said a very confused Rainbow Dash.

"Don't be fooled, this evil monster is not Link."

"Quite right." said Dark Link.

"Ooh, an evil twin." said Pinkie Pie. "This should be interesting."

"I know, I think I might need some buttered popcorn!" Discord said excitingly, poofing a movie chair and a bucket of popcorn like at the movies

"I can't watch." said Fluttershy. Despite what she said, she decided to take a peak at this anyway.

"What the hell are you?" Link asked the double.

"I'm you, of course. Well, your evil version of yourself is more like it." he replied in a smug tone of voice. "So I think you won't win this fight, because we have equal traits, don't you think?"

"No! I am nothing like you!" Link retorted. "You are just a fake and a phony! a clone!"

Dark Link laughed evilly. "That is where you are wrong, buddy." Then they both fought, and it was turning out to be fierce. Dark Link jumped off on top of a building, then Link jumped onto a crate then climbed on the house to resume the fight. After many dodging and sword clashing, they jumped again with a really loud clang sound erupting like something epic was happening.

Many of Ponyville noticed that, and went to watch the fight. Of course some others were ducking for cover under tables, going inside various buildings and hiding behind hay bales for protection. Twilight, Fluttershy, Lyra, Bon Bon, and the others with them looked on to watch this interesting grudge match.

Link swung his sword horizontally, but Dark link jumped on the Master Sword and kicked Link to the ground.

"Oh no! Link!" Fluttershy called.

"I'm fine Fluttershy, just stay back." Link said. He retaliated and side-rolled from a strike from the dark sword, knocking him with the back slicer. When Dark Link was down, Link was about to do the finishing blow, but the evil doppelganger rolled out of the way. Link's sword was stuck in the ground, but when Dark Link was about to finish him while he was distracted, Link jabbed his elbow right in his face, causing him to stagger.

He pulled the master sword out just in time, then the clashing continued. Dark Link performed his own spin attack, but Link backflipped out of the way, and did a jump attack. Alas, Dark Link did a backflip dodge himself. He then punched Link with his shield, but the real Hero of Twilight retaliated by punching him in the face multiple times, first it was to one cheek, the second one was to the other, and the third was an uppercut. The fourth one was from the Hylian shield, bashing his face.

Dark Link bashed his shield against Link's face again, and performed the helm splitter on him, knocking him to the ground. Everypony and Colin gasped with horror. However, Link dodged the finishing blow from his evil twin just in time and was back on his feet, then everypony's demeanor changed when they cheered on for him

"He's tough." Link thought. "Yet again, he's like me, except.... he's evil and hellish."

"Is that all you got?" Dark Link shouted, wiping some blood off his lip

"No way! I'll never back down!" Link replied to him.

Fluttershy's courage boosted again, and went in front of Link to defend him from this abomination of an impostor. "I will not let you hurt our friend! If you want Link, you will have to go through me!"

"And me!" Rainbow stepped up, ready to fight.

"Me too!" said Twilight. Then the rest of her friends stepped up, ready to fight this demon. Discord, conjured a knight's uniform with a sword and shield, looking more than ready to fight Dark Link head on.

"Well, isn't that nice. You have good friends backing you up, buddy. Really touching, yet pathetic! A true warrior would fight without any help!"

"Wrong! There is nothing wrong with having friends by your side to help you."

"Not the way I see it, Colin." Dark Link replied to him. "Well, I would love to stay and fight some more, but I'd gotta run." then he disappeared into black smoke and vanished into nothingness. It was good that he was gone, Dark Link would have made a mess of the town, more of a mess bigger than the previous enemies that he, and the others have witnessed.

"You alright, Link?" asked Rainbow."

"Yeah." he got up with Colin pulling him up "just a few scratches, that's all."

"Did that really just happen?" asked Lyra

"I know." Bon Bon added

"He looked like you, but.... he wasn't you." said Applejack. Where did he come from?"

"That's beyond me. I'm beginning to wonder that myself. Well, he's gone now. Well for now, that is." Link replied. "Well, I think we should tell Princess Celestia and Luna about this. This would sound like a real page-turner for them when we give them the letter."

"I know right!" Spike agreed. "That was pretty awesome, the evil twin thing, and you guys fighting like that."

"I definitely think that Chrysalis is behind all of this. I just know it from her eyes when I see it, because now, I am starting to become more certain of this." Discord said suspiciously

"No kidding." said Rainbow. "What is she really up to?"

"We don't know. We'll just let the princess' figure this out when we write to them." Twilight noted. Then they all agreed with her.

Rarity then noticed Colin's new accessory "ooh, is that a new shield, Colin?" she asked him.

"Yeah." the boy replied. He took the Hero's shield out again. "i just got this one a few minutes ago."

They were all intrugued by ths design of this new shield.

"It looks beautiful." said Fluttershy. "It kind of looks like Link's shield."

"I know! That's so awesome." said Rainbow in agreement. "Where did you get this?"

"I found it." was all he replied.

"It does look a lot like Link's Hylian shield, but it looks more..... abstract to say the least." Rarity noted, taking a closer look at the design.

"Wait a minute." Link said, recognizing it. "This was the shield that belonged to the Hero of Time when he was a boy."

They all gasped with surprise. They were even more intrigued by this shield 

"That's amazing." said Twilight. 

"Yeah, He gave it to me."

"What?" said Bon Bon

"No way!" Lyra added.

"Yeah. He heard my problem and he fixed it for me."

"That's nice of him." said Applejack. 

"Eeyup. Now you look just like a hero." said Big Mac. "I can just imagine you being like a sibling to Link now."

Colin smiled. "I think I do too."

"Well, i'm glad you got this shield, Colin. Now you won't have to worry about getting a new one." Link said happily. "And this time, it looks more stronger and indestructible."

"I know."

"Well, why don't we go back to the cottage so I can help with those bruises." Fluttershy offered. Then they all followed her where Link can tend to his minor wounds, and write that letter on what just happen to the princess'
