//------------------------------// // Hoof, Mane, Snout // Story: The Ending Race // by rainbowspirals //------------------------------// Dizziness. The dizziness grabbed onto me like a sharp hook. It was growing, taking over. I felt it. It grappled my skin and pulled and tugged. Until, It leg go. I fell to the ground, unaware of what has occured. I felt sharp, dull stones and hard pieces of gray dirt under me. I gathered myself like Rarity would gather a bowl of broken jewels that had fallen, I gathered myself like Applejack would gather a spilled bucket of tasty, red, glistening apples. What... time is it? I thought, and as I looked up, I saw a hallucinasion... It's... It's 3-3am? It looks like a nice summer morning here, but NOT 3am... I looked up blindly, trying to move my hair—or should I say, now mane out of the way, but then I realised I didn't own a hand in my possession. A HOOF?! I thought, before remembering some sketchy details what DID happen. I walked into my mirror because I sensed something told me to. And here I am, a filthy... filthy... mare..? Anyway, I'm a filthy mare lying face-first position in the hard, rocky soil of a road. I knew nothing about this wonderful place until... I saw Sugarcube Corner straight ahead. I couldn't believe it. I was... I was... I was in Equestria?! I was so confused, I looked like a silly idiot glaring into nothing. It's like I went inside the world I have on my left wall. Oh, wait. That did happen. I was nervouscited and utterly shocked. There was no words I had, no words I could speak. I was just plain, rotten dead inside. This was, after all, a whole new world. I looked around, taking notice of every cartoon-like object. And there was many. Out in the distance, I saw Canterlot and the white, purple and gold hilltop castle belonging to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. I saw rocky and very steep gray mountains, bordering Ponyville and its citizens. I didn't even had to look that far, in front of me was a cartoon bakery shop, and behind me was a junction with many houses. The houses had straw roofs, and they looked very friendly in general. There was also a stone fountain, and the sound of the water spilling across the levels immediately made me feel better. The sound is just so... calming. There were a few clouds in the sky here and there, but they weren't thunder clouds or anything. Generally it was a bright and sunny day that day. I could hear the cartoon birds chirping in the distance, and I could smell the faint scents of flowers that were planted nearby. I could also see fields not far from where I was standing, and I was going to go there to lay down in the lush, green grass, but I decided I was way too hungry and confused for that. Because of that, I slumped myself and I sat down on the mucky dirt. I tried to figure out what I looked like, it was the most I could do at that moment, because there was just nothing else that I could do. I had a baby blue coat and my mane looked like a darker shade of baby blue. I didn't know my eye colour though, and I was eager to know that. Has it changed from the colour i have in real life? Or has it stayed the same? "The eyes are the window to the soul." Oh, whatever. I'll get a shiny mirror eventually. Whenever I looked anywhere, I could see my snout. I could get used to this eventually. Walking was impossible at first. I didn't see any pony yet, so it looked like I was walking on skinny and wobbly bread sticks. Eventually, I managed to stand for more than five seconds. My hooves were wobbling and I couldn't bring myself to anything, it was impossible to move as well. I just stood there until I fell onto my belly. I somehow got up, and once again i looked like a year old baby, or more like a filly, taking their first steps. I managed to take some steps without falling over! Time by time, I getting better! Eventually I started pacing in circles, and then I started to run. I realised I had another part on my body, which I could move but nothing happened. Meh. I decided to just continue running in circles than checking behind me to find out what that body part is. I just realised that if this is Ponyville, there must be all the ponies from the Mane six! It's so strange to know that I am in their world... I just can't understand that! After years of watching the show, it isn't something I thought would ever happen to me. Rarity in the boutique, Applejack at the farm, Pinkie Pie at the bakery, Rainbow Dash in the... in the... I trailed off as I was looking around the sky. I tried to find a flying rainbow anywhere but I didn't see anything. It was a bummer, but I thought about the remaining ponies. Twilight is at her library with her number one assistant Spike and the final pony, the sweetheart Fluttershy, in her animal-filled cottage, away from the crowded Ponyville, more in the quiet area. Fluttershy loves quiet and dislikes when someone is loud, and I don't mind loud, but I prefer quiet. In some cases though, I love loud. I'm a loud person. But if I had to talk about streets in the city, I want it to be quiet. I decided to ru—gallop... over to Sugarcube Corner. It is a pink, and white building. It looks like a decorated cake with icing and edible decorations. It has one floor, but it is a lot bigger than it seems when you look at the exterior. It is the first building I see, and I know Pinkie Pie lives here, and I'm sure she would be super excited for a new pony in town! Also, I was incredibly hungry, and I could seriously eat some food right now. Any food at all, just something to please my insides. I do not like sweets, candy, or icing that much, but I'm sure they have some leftover, juicy and delicious apple pie I could nibble on. I was slowly getting used to the walking and every day movements of a pony in Equestria. I still had a lot to learn, there is only so much I could learn in minutes. I was so ready. I got up, my legs straight, and I took a step. And another, and another. I'm so close to the door, I think I can make it before I fall over because I can't walk like a normal functioning pony! I thought, however, before I could reach the door, I was swooped into the air like birds' prey. Huh?! What's happening? Take me down! What?! Wait... is that..? It was. The one and only Rainbow Dash. "Whoa, whoaaa, WHOA!" I yelled nervouscitedly. "I was now, in the air, with Rainbow Dash. That was like, so awesome! It would have been better though if wouldn't feel like I was falling half of the time, I was not used to flying like—at all. "Bahaahahaha... Hey newbie." Rainbow performed some leisureful sky-swimming movements. I began to like this. "Hey..." I would've said much more, but I was still feeling lightheaded. I think Rainbow noticed though. She looked at me and landed gracefully at a hill top, looking over Ponyville. "What brings you here? You look new here. I have literally never seen a pegasus so unused to flying before," said Rainbow Dash. She sat beside me, not looking at me while I talked. The sun was setting. That was where she was looking, and so was I, occasionally changing my view onto her to make sure she didn't disappear. All good. But wait, I was a what? "Well, y-you see... It's i-i-incredibly hard to explain, and I-I still don't remember what h-happened completely. But I'm a... I-I-I'm a p-pegasus?" I couldn't believe how much I was stuttering. I was very shaken, and I just couldn't wrap my head around anything at that moment. "Hehe... Yeah, you're a pegasus alright. We can stop by at Rarity's later on so we can get you a mirror,'' said Rainbow Dash, still glazing at the sun patiently, waiting for it to set. "I didn't expect anyone new around. I was having a casual flight and I saw you attempting to make your way over to Sugarcube Corner, so I decided to grab you and bring you here. You also looked heavily confused, so I can always lend you a good hoof for help." I felt like at that moment, Rainbow Dash contained all the elements in her. "That would be great, thank you. But I am super hungry and really tired. But I feel absolutely filthy. Going over to Rarity's is a good idea. I just need to get this muck out of my skin—feathers, mane and tail. Then, I would really need a bite to eat. I don't enjoy cupcakes and sweets that much, I was gonna ask for some delicious apple pie," I explained, thinking I over-did it. "Awesome. I'm gonna do all that for you, just hop on. Also, we can rest over in Cloudsdale. You are a pegasus just like I am, and pegasi can walk on cloud, so you are fine. I have some spare blankets I can sleep on, you can take the bed. Tomorrow, I'll bring you around to meet the remaining ponies and Pinkie might even throw an awesome party. Oh and also, I will teach you how to fly tomorrow, so you don't crash when you want to get around. You look like a fast learner though, so I don't think you need much lessons. Sounds good?" I nodded heavily. We knocked on Rarity's door. The red sun was nearly set. It took a while, but I was sure Rarity was just getting ready. Eventually, a glamorous and shiny Rarity opened the door. For a second I thought she was going somewhere, but then I realised that it was just her mane and tail. "Good evening Rainbow Dash! And who is this? My sweet Celestia, you look awful! I'm sure I can touch you up in a jiffy. Come in! But try not to get muck on the floor. On second thought, hold on a second. I will wipe your mucky hooves with a towel." Rarity trotted away. "Rarity is so shiny. I never knew she would be so glamorous. At least not that much! That nearly blinded me." I was taken away by her dazzle. It was spectacular. She is a white pony with baby blue eye shadow and fake but wonderful black eyelashes. Her cutiemark is three pale blue gems, and she specializes in making absolutely drop-dead fantabulous gorgeous outfit for absolutely any occasion. She has a purple curled mane and tail and dark blue eyes. She's charming and has an English, clear accent. She is very dramatic and can't get a hoof dirty, like no way. But she is still an amazing pony in general. She represents the element of generosity, and she is generous in every situation. Even if it means giving the best gem away, she will do it, it's just her feat. After a few moments, Rarity came trotting back with a towel, wiping the muck off of my hooves. She invited me and RD in, and Rarity brought me to a big spa-like room, with a bath, manicure, pedicure and face mask items. "Alright darling. I will prepare a spa treatment for you. You look quite strained dear," offered Rarity. I needed a spa treatment really badly. I haven't had one in weeks. I allowed her. She squealed and prepared everything needed. Rainbow Dash helped herself to the spa bed next to mine. She took some face mask cream and juicy green cucumbers and did all the work herself. We were both relaxed. After the spa treatment, Rarity showed me the way to a big mirror. I took one long look at my self. I flapped my wings. Okay, I can get used to this. I moved in closer, looking at my eyes. I had mint eyes. Okay, I finally know my eye colour. I took a step back and a look at my coat and mane and tail. My coat was a blue colour, just like Rainbow's. My mane and tail were quite shaggy - just like in real life - and the colour was a darker blue than my coat colour. My mane and tail outline colour was a somehow even darker shade of blue, but my whole body was full of only baby blue variations, aside from my eyes. For some reason I didn't have a cutie mark. Well, probably because I never went to Equestria before, duh. "Wow. I did not expect this at all," I said. "What, is something wrong dear?" Questioned Rarity. "She can't get used to the fact that she is in Equestria and is a pony Pegasus," explained Rainbow Dash, being spot-on. "Oh. Well, you look really divine. I've seen ponies that are not that glamorous as you. Or at all," said Rarity. We all laughed. Rarity is a good charm. I enjoyed her boutique. It was filled with gorgeous pieces of clothing that could make it so far, especially in the real life world. She had no problem contrasting one style to another, and dazzling a line with just the right amount of blinding dazzle. "Sorry Rarity, but me and—hey, what IS your name?" asked Rainbow. I just realised that I never told my name out! "I honestly don't know... where I come from we don't have names like Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie..." I explained. Panic started to arise. What name could I possibly have?! "Hmm... To me, you look like a... hmm... Rarity help me out." I threw a little laugh. "DAZZLE MARE!" yelled Rarity. "Um... I don't think 'Dazzle Mare' suits her. I would say... Spirals or something," suggested Rainbow Dash. It was a good suggestion, so I took it. "I think I'll go by that name then, I can't think of anything else, honestly!" I exclaimed. I was happy it didn't take ages to think of a name. I think everpony was completely relaxed now that that was solved and out of the way. "Anyway, like I was saying, me and Spirals have to head out. We are gonna go over to Sugarcube Corner! I'm pretty sure when Pinkie sees Spirals, she will be so excited. That's why there will probably be a party tomorrow to celebrate! Me and Spirals will fly over to tell you when and where, okay?" Said Rainbow. "Alright dear!" We left the fancy boutique and I hopped on Rainbow Dash again. She dashed over to Sugarcube Corner. We entered, the bell at the door rang, and as we expected, Pinkie Pie rushed out to greet us. Pinkie Pie is a super pink pony, with a dark pink, wild and frazzled springy mane and tail, which she can bounce on like on a trampoline. Her cutie mark is 3 balloons that are sky blue and pale yellow. She has blue eyes, and represents the element of laughter. She is a very funny pony, never failing to make anypony laugh. She is super psychic and a very good spy. She can find a disguise for anything, and can guess anything at all aswell. She is super unpredictable and fun, and she's a very professional—not—party pony! She can make a party for absoluely anything, and that's what she always does. She is probably the fastest pony in Equestria, but noone can really prove it since whenever she is going somewhere at the speed of light, you never see her. She just appears like she has some hidden unicorn teleportation magic. And that was the pony that was at the door. "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh! You are a newbie pony! Oh my gosh! This calls for a PARTY!! I NEED to set the decorations up RIGHT NOW for everypony to come ov—" "Pinkie! This is Spirals. She's a new pony and she's AWESOME! But she is really tired." I was so happy Rainbow Dash talked to Pinkie for me. I didn't have the right words to deny a fun party now. I'm glad she did. "Yes. I am super tired and I'm starving. I just came by to see if you have any leftover apple pie?" I asked politely. "We have every single type of food waiting here just for you! Apple pie? Here you go! Eat up! Tomorrow I'll have lots and lots of food for the party!" shouted Pinkie Pie excitedly. She passed me a white plate with a crumbly apple pie piece, and one to Rainbow too. We both ate up, before saying our goodbyes and for the third time I hopped on Rainbow happily and we flew over to Cloudsdale. I hopped off Rainbow realising that yes, it was true, I could walk on cloud! I followed her to her house. There were tall cloud columns and many Rainbow waterfalls. I tasted a drop of rainbow. It was really spicy, just like Pinkie once tried it. We went into Rainbow Dash's room. There where Wonderbolt posters and trophies all over decorating the walls and adding personality. There was a big window, looking over the rest of Cloudsdale. Rainbow Dash took some blankets and pillows out from her cloud wardrobe and placed them on the floor. "I'll be sleeping right here. You take the bed. Tank is already there, so just lay beside him. I'm sure he won't mind. He's already fast asleep. Do you need anything?" said Rainbow Dash, placing the soft-looking blankets and pillows down to make a comfortable sleeping spot for her. Cloud was soft, it was like walking on mattresses, so there wasn't a problem with the softness of the ground for her. Besides, the mattress I was sleeping on, was made of cloud. Everything was! I tucked myself in with a smile. I couldn't wait until tomorrow.
