//------------------------------// // Prologue // Story: The Ending Race // by rainbowspirals //------------------------------// I love the way that when you enter my room you get blasted with the different colours from my left wall. It is crowded with different posters. It paints a picture of Equestria, which I love exploring. The colours are so saturated it feels like you just got hit by a sonic rainboom whenever you walk into my room. One particular poster, the one I have with Sugarcube Corner and a bit of the dusty road, reflects on my mirror. Sometimes it surely looks like I'm in their world when I'm checking myself out! I usually glare at all these posters whenever I'm grounded. And that's exactly what I am today. Reason being is because I stayed outside for a really long time with my friends. I lost track of time and I didn't have my phone. I know all of Equestria. Ever since the show came out, I studied their world. I know the mountains and cities, I know it all. The rest of my room is not as bright as the left wall. It contrasts a lot, as it is very dull in comparison. I have a simple chestnut brown, single bed with single white bedding with swirls on it. I have a simple white desk with a simple pencil holder which contains pens. Another thing I treasure in my room that is not a wall full of posters is my MLP plushie collection. I have all the Mane 6 ponies, with different plushie versions of some. Rainbow Dash and Applejack are placed together since I ship them a lot. From all seasons i collected a lot of evidence on their friendship, and they are my both favourite characters. I also have all the ponies available in the POP Vinyl series, so they are also placed on my shelf. I enjoy the look of my room. At least one wall of it. I would love to change out my bed maybe, and get a new desk... My white dresser is also breaking down. I can't call it 'white' anymore. In some places, the paint from the birch wood is scraping off, leaving white-yellow bits of wood everywhere on my dresser. It isn't even patterned—the scratches—into any attractive sequence, it's just... there. One thing I don't want to put away, ever, is my mirror though. It's just been there forever, and I don't want it to go. The rest of my house is not that exciting. I love the design though - it is compact and very... cute? The rooms are usually very small, but there is always enough lighting and it's just... perfect. My kitchen has a modern look just like the rest of the house. The colourcode is dark chocolate wood and white fabric and other materials. In some places, a gray tint is miced in. Next to the kitchen is a big archway leading to the sitting room/dining room. They have the same colour code but there are carpets in the room. In the sitting room, we have a 55" TV, couch, armchair and coffee table. It is just a little relaxing place. The dining room has many paintings on the walls, since my mom is an artist. She learned me to draw when I was really young, and she earns money by canvas paintings and graphic design on Photoshop. My dad is a video game tester, so he decides what games he likes and then if games are about to come out that suit him, my dad plays the whole game before it is released to comment on it and sometimes look for some pesky bugs which can make the game a lot easier to bypass. My parents are both happy. I didn't have a job yet, I was 17. I did my driver's license already, but I couldn't go to Uni until I was 18 years old. My birthday is June 24th, and at that point in time it was June 5th, Summer holidays. Since I was basically gonna become an adult during the holidays, I was taking the next year off for Uni and I was gonna try to get some money. Then next year I was going to drive off to University. I had a scholarship since I was a honor student. But for now, I was grounded, sitting in my room, in deep thought. Whenever I am grounded, my mom locks the rustic, white door of my room, and I was always inside. My room is on the first floor, so I am not planning to jump out of my window anytime soon. My bedroom got opened whenever there was food like dinner. I couldn't go outside, and my mom disabled my internet for my phone and laptop at 5PM, so usually I just stared at my special wall, live in my twisted Celestia of a fantasy and eventually fall asleep at 7PM. Then in the morning if I was still grounded like then, I would wake up at 10, and just stay on my laptop until breakfast was ready. Ever since I started watching MLP, I had always been addicted to one pegasus pony. I would think about her and about what is would be like if I met her. I wrote fanfiction stories and drew her a lot. I just dreamed of stroking her feathers and brushing her mane. But I knew that would never happen. It's a kids cartoon show - get your act together! This boring night it was like any normal I'm-grounded boring night. I sat on my laptop reading crazy fanfic stories others have about MLP before the internet was cut off from my room. I played some phone games and then I decided to draw. Eventually, I went to sleep at 6:30PM and fell asleep at 7PM. I woke up at 3am again though, for the 3rd time that week. I didn't know why I woke up at that hour, especially so many times that week. But before I could sigh annoyingly and fall back to sleep, I heard a loud... but quiet... blast. I didn't know what that meant. I lay in bed for a few moments severely alarmed, to try to figure out if my family woke up to the strange noise. Nothing. "It's all in your head. Go to sleep child, god,'' The curiosity got the best of me though, so I decided to investigate myself. I placed my two feet on the floor, and brought myself up to standing position. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I was really tired. But nevertheless, I looked under the bed and around the room. As I looked at my posters, I realised the moon was very bright. It provided many reflections on the plastic posters. In one of the reflections, I saw my mirror. It had a pulsing, glowing bevel around the edge, frightening me a little. "What is that?" I thought to myself. I was barely awake, and I was not ready for any scientific explanations on all of this. I was so confused. I looked at my reflective and shiny tall mirror. I just didn't understand... When I saw the road ahead, I did not hesitate, I couldn't hesitate. I walked inside.
