//------------------------------// // Just Taking a Walk // Story: A Walk Through Ponyville // by PhoelynFabulous //------------------------------// He stopped fluttering his wings as he landed just outside of the small town of Ponyville, and started walking. It was nothing special, really. He had decided to take a little stop in Ponyville, see what there was to see. He had only really been in Canterlot before, and he wanted to see what all of Equestria had to offer. So he had flown to Ponyville to take a walk... Simple as that. As he walked, a pony took a glance at him... and then did a double take, jaw dropping as he watched him walk along the road. More and more ponies noticed him with similar reactions as he walked down the street, looking at a few shops to see what Ponyville had in store. Soon, he came across a restaurant. The name didn't quite matter to him. What caught his attention were the wonderful smells coming from this building. Hay fries and hayburgers. It smelled incredible. So naturally, he broke into a trot to get there, and get something to eat. He was very hungry, and he doubted the food there would be actually filling, but that didn't matter to him very much. However, it appeared that there were quite a bit more ponies here. Perhaps they were just hungry as well? It would make sense. What didn't quite make sense, was how they all panicked as he approached, screaming and stampeding away from the scene. Two mares even fainted at the scene. He wasn't fazed at all, and continued into the restaurant. As he stepped in the door, everything went quiet, and everypony stared at him like he was the strangest and most terrifying thing that had happened all day. He swore he heard a record scratch like music had stopped, but he hadn't even been there long enough to see if there was music in the first place. A plate crashed to the ground. Somepony fainted, again. A scream rang out from somewhere, then galloping noises as a red-maned mare took cover in the bathroom. He just blinked, as if nothing was wrong, and continued on his way to order. All eyes in the restaurant followed him. A few ponies bolted to the door after he had left it's space, but he didn't seem to care all that much. He just walked up to order and looked at the menu, completely oblivious to the terrified pony behind the counter. "Can I have a hayburger with fries please?" He said simply. Many shuddered at his voice. A few more fainted. Some ponies jaws dropped, as if they thought he would kill the pony behind the counter instead of just ask for some food. The poor mare behind the counter also seemed to be in a state of shock as well. She blinked once, twice, three times, and then said, "Th-Th-Th-That'll b-be s-s-s-six b-bits, please!" He paid no mind to the stutter, and checked to see if he had any bits on him, as he forgot to check earlier when entering the building. He had none, and frowned. "Oh dear, I'm sorry, I don't have any bits... I'll be going then. Sorry for the inconvenience." And so he sadly left the wonderful-smelling restaurant, feeling a bit hungrier then he was before. He didn't notice the mare faint after he left. What he did notice, however, was the familiar six ponies waiting for him outside the restaurant, anger written across their features...well, most of them. The pink earth pony seemed permanently happy. Two pegasi, two earth ponies, one unicorn, one alicorn. A princess? She hadn't been like that the last time he saw her. He blinked a bit at them. "Oh, hello!" he said in surprise. "Don't you 'oh hello' us, buddy!" said the cyan pegasus. What was her- oh yes, Rainbow Dash. That was her name. "We know what you are, changeling!" "I haven't done anything wrong, have I?" He asked them, "Sure, there was the whole 'Canterlot Incident', but since you guys won it was a bigger inconvenience to us then to you. We shouldn't be enemies anymore...heh. An unpopular opinion among the other changelings, but it's what I believe in. All I've done since I arrived in Ponyville was take a walk!" The six ponies in front of him seemed confused. "...Why?" Twibright Sparkle- no no, Twilight Sparkle, he was having trouble remembering their names, asked. "Why haven't you done anything at all?" "I just said that I didn't want any trouble," He replied, "I just wanted to see the sights... get away from the Hive for a little while. Everyling else is very rude every time I just give a small opinion! Why isn't peace an option!? WHY IS IT ILLEGAL TO BE A CHANGELING!?" Twilight blinked as the changeling ranted. He seemed strangely pony-like, for a changeling. He acted a little bit like her... "What's your name?" He blinked. "What?" "Your name. I asked for your name." repeated Twilight. Everyone was confused now. "...Chirryn." Chirryn told the Princess of Friendship. Twilight smiled. "Well, Chirryn, it isn't illegal to be a changeling. Everypony is just frightened of you. Everypony is still scared after what happened during the Invasion. And I am willing to forgive you, and you alone, if you can prove to us that you won't hurt anypony. Maybe you can even stay awhile and come visit, if you're good enough." Chirryn blinked. He hadn't been expecting this... He smiled, and felt teary eyed. "Thank you." Then, he had a thought. "If everypony is afraid of me, how can I stay in Ponyville?" Twilight smiled. "We'll just take a walk together." Chirryn smiled, and asked one more question. "If it isn't too much to ask, do you have any bits? It smells delicious in that restaurant, and I can't afford anything in there..." Twilight laughed.
