Chapter 15: A New Matron

(Whitetail Woods, Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, 3rd P.O.V)

After hearing the events of what had happened with Kai and his dealings in Equestria, to say that the members of the Dark Brotherhood weren’t dumbfounded would be untrue. “And so Luna and I will be married after this all blows over. Any questions comments, concerns?” Kai asked as he looked around the room to see the Dark Brotherhood stare at him with their mouths wide open. Once they regained some composure, Talia was the first to speak. “After hearing this, I’m willing to bet that this world has prospered without the need for violence, but soon that will change .” The Dunmer said with sly smirk on her face. “Perhaps, but don’t be deceived, this world may seem peaceful, but it has been host to violence before.” Kai said with a knowing smile on his face. “Really? Now that’s something I want to….” Nazir started, but was interrupted by the sound of a heavenly voice. “Everyone listen. I hear the most beautiful voice outside.” The Redguard said as he listened to the sound of the beautiful singing outside. “I know that voice.” Kai said as he listened to the voice singing.

(Luna’s P.O.V)

I flew down from Canterlot and into Ponyville to seek out my new followers, but Sithis never told me where they were, so I had assumed it would be in a location I was familiar with. “I need to find a way to locate them.” I thought to myself. Then an idea came to my mind. “I’ll use my voice to bring them to me.” I said with a smile as I cleared my throat and took a deep breath and began to sing. As I sang I felt I was succeeding in my endeavour to lead the Dark Brotherhood to me. I heard a door open up and I saw six figures exit a small outcropping in the Whitetail Wood. I saw a little girl, a jester, an elven woman, a dark stallion, and two men. One of the men had tan skin, but the other looked vaguely familiar to me, but I didn’t know how.

“Luna?! What are you doing here?!” The pale human asked in shock. “Kai, my love, why are you with the Dark Brotherhood?” I asked my fiance. “It’s because I used to be their leader, the Listener, before I became a Daedric Prince.” Kai said as he removed his hood. “I see, so aren’t you going to introduce me?” I said as I looked at the other five members of the group. “Right. The girl is Babette, she’s a vampire, The tan man is Nazir, a Redguard, the Jester is Cicero, the stallion is Shadowmere, and this beautiful example of Dunmer beauty is Talia.” Kai said as he pointed to each member of the group. “It’s a pleasure to meet you all.” I said as I made a small bow in respect.

“It’s nice to meet you too Princess.” Talia said with a smile. “Likewise, but there must be a reason you’re here other than to meet us.” Babette said as she crossed her arms. “Yes there is. You see as I was dreaming earlier this evening, I was contacted by Sithis. He told me that I am your new mistress.” I said with an endearing smile. “Sithis eh? Well guess he can still come up with some clever surprises. if what you say is true, do you have any type of evidence to prove your claim?” Nazir asked. “I do perhaps if I remain silent and think, if Talia can hear my thoughts, then I am your new mistress. Does that sound fair?” I said looking at Nazir. “Sounds fair.” The Redguard replied. I stood silent thinking of my favorite memory of Celestia and me as fillies. “Aw now that is cute.” Talia said with slight giggle. “I trust you could hear her thoughts Listener?” Cicero asked in his high-pitched voice. “I did, she has truly been touched by the Dread Father, her rule is absolute.” Talia replied as she kneeled to me. “Rise dear child of mine.” I replied in a motherly tone. “We humbly welcome you as ‘Mistress of the Dark Brotherhood’.” Nazir said as he bowed in respect with the other three to following him. “Rise my children, and always remember I am with you.” I said as I took to the skies once more to head back to Canterlot to lower the moon.

(Canterlot Castle, Celestia’s P.O.V)

As it was time to raise the sun to start a new day, I was on my way to see if my sister was ready as well. But upon entry into her room, She was not there. “Where did she go this time, this isn’t the first time she had been late to lower the moon.” I thought as I looked around her room. Then as I was leaving the room, Luna landed on her balcony looking a little tired, but otherwise happy. “Luna where were you last night?” I asked. “I went to greet my new subjects dear sister, now let’s get some breakfast and we can discuss it.” Luna said as she yawned. “Alright, let’s go.” I giggled as we left Luna’s room and went towards the dining room to find Sheogorath in his other form; James the Hero of Kvatch sitting there waiting patiently. “Why if it isn’t the princesses finally arriving to join us for a fine breakfast.” Sheogorath or James said as we entered. “It’s nice to see this gentle, more sane side of you, perhaps I should use it to my advantage.” I said with a wink. “Oh, not on the first date Celestia, but perhaps after about the second or third.” James replied as he used his magic to pull out seats for Luna and me. “Such a gentleman.” I said with a sly grin forming as floating dish trays of food floated to the table. “Yes, and I see that the blushing bride to be is here too.” James/ Sheogorath said as Luna sat down in her seat. “Yes, now let’s eat I’m starving.” Luna said with a cute whine. “As you wish.” James said as the dishes descended onto the table to reveal all the good food that is called breakfast.

As we ate Luna explained that the entity known as Sithis has made her the new matron of an organization of assassins known as the Dark Brotherhood. “Interesting Luna, perhaps you can use them as spies for our military, while they can still carry out their standard practices so long as they don’t come after anypony important.” I said as I took a sip of tea. “Of course Tia, I’ll inform Talia of their new role alongside being assassins.” Luna said as she ate a piece of toast, then remained silent for a moment. “She said they’ll do it, as long as we pay them just a bit more than what they’re used to.” Luna said as she drank her tea. “How much do they usually get?” I asked. “Usually 100-200 gold coins, or bits.” Luna said as she wiped her face with her napkin. “That’s about 100 bits less than a Royal Guard, tell them they’ll be paid at least 300-400 bits for their services, and complete immunity from the law, as long as their 'business' doesn’t end up in the public eye.” I said with a stern expression. “I think they know that part dear sister. The whole point of being an assassin is to make sure your work isn’t discovered.” Luna said as she rolled her eyes. “Point taken, now I believe you have some wedding planning to do today don’t you?” I said with a smirk. “Ah, yes I have to see Sassy Saddles about my wedding gown fitting, then I have to meet up with Pinkie about the catering.” Luna said as she finished up her food and teleported to her bathroom to freshen up.

“Little sisters are always so cute when they’re embarrassed.” James said as he nudged my shoulder. I merely rolled my eyes in response as I helped clear away the empty dish trays. “While I agree with you on that, I think we should take it easy on her because she’s under a lot of stress from planning her wedding.” I said as James walked by my side. “I see, but I hope it all goes well for her in the end, same with the inevitable battle.” James said as his smile faded into a worried expression. “You and me both Sheogorath, you and me both.” I said as I looked to the doors of the throne room.
