Catching A Rainbow

Applejack chuckled, it had been one year and a half since she stood in this field. Except last time she had come to listen to a crazy easter egg plan. Now instead of a nervous rainbow colored mare, stood a just as nervous purple one.
Twilight fumed at her friend’s laugh, “I don't see how this is funny. I’m really nervous about this plan, Applejack, and you're not helping. What if she says we’re moving too fast or worst dump me for asking?” Applejack rolled her eyes. Her friend always got worked up over the littlest of things. Granted this wasn't a little thing, but it didn't make it any less funny.
Applejack placed her hooves around Twilight, “Now listen hear sugarcube. She loves you, any pony could see how close you two are. Heck Twi, she planned a fake easter egg hunt to get with you. Ah don't honestly see her turning you down” Applejack sighed as Twilight still refused to calm herself. “How about you tell me your grand plan?”
Twilight’s face brighten at the idea of explaining her grand scheme,”Oh Applejack, it’s flawless. I’ve been planning this for a month. So you know how I perform at the Summer Sun Celebration? Well this year I plan on spelling out my question in the fireworks!”
Applejack couldn't hold it, finding herself once more on the grass clutching her sides. Her friends were perfect for eachother. Twilight only huffed as she waited for the farmer to finish. Soon Applejack caught her breath wiping a tear away, ”This is great. First Rainbow Dash wanted to ask you out with eggs. Now you want to propose with fireworks. This is just uncanny, Celestia Twilight of course she’ll say yes. You two are perfect together. What could go wrong?”
Twilight silently cursed her friend’s words. The planned night was just a few hours away and one major problem had reared its head. That problem also had a name, and it was, Rainbow Dash. No matter what Twilight did she couldn't get her love’s attention. A certain captain of the wonderbolts held her love’s fullest concentration.
The night had started just as planned, Rainbow Dash and her enjoyed a romantic dinner. Followed by a beautiful midnight walk through the woods. It all came crashing down when they reached the summit. As soon as Rainbow Dash spotted Spitfire, she was gone.
Twilight now seethed as she watched her love chat away her perfect night. Her performance wasn't to far away, the clock was ticking. If things kept the same, Rainbow would never see her big finally. Anger grew as Twilight trotted toward her love.
As she drew nearer, Rainbow’s voice became clear,”I’m telling you Spits. It’s great being with Twilight, she is awesome. A bit of an egghead, but still one truly amazing mare. I really love her you know.”
Twilight’s anger dissipated as her love’s words touched her, but like normal Rainbow pushed a little too far, “And don't get me started on how kinky she is in bed. You know what the say about ner-
“Rainbow Dash!”
Rainbow gulped as she looked at Spitfire’s scared eyes. “She's right behind hind me isn't she?” Spitfire just nodded afraid to speak, not wanting to anger the princess further. Dash didn't even turn around as she bolted to the sky, “Got to go Spits, see you later!”
“You won't escape me, Rainbow Dash!” Twilight’s wings flared as she to darted toward the fleeing rainbow streak. Many ponies stared in awe as a rainbow darted through the sky. Followed closely by a bright purple trail of light.
Rainbow Dash had to push herself, as Twilight gained ground. She had seen a pissid Twilight before and last time she caught fire! She had no time to react as a purple flash appeared before her. Grabbing her into an embrace. She didn't even get a chance to catch her bearing, as she blinked away.
Rainbow Dash soon found herself flush against the ground, her lover pinning her. Rainbow kept her eyes shut, waiting for the shouting to begin. Only to open her eyes as Twilight’s voice cracked, “Why did it go wr-sniff-ng I had it...it all planned.” Rainbow sat in shock as she watched Twilight shake. Did Twilight figure out her plan?
“Darn it Dashie, I wanted tonight to be special-sniff- why couldn't you behave.” Dash only smiled, as she leaned forward placing a kiss on Twilight’s cheek. Twilight stared in awe as Dash spoke.
“Oh egghead tonight's special allright. Just look up.” Twilight stopped as she took in Rainbow Dash’s smirk. It was the same smirk her love wore when she had just pulled the perfect prank. Her curiosity got the best of her as she glanced toward the sky.
Another sob broke through as the message it held became clear. In a bright rainbow hugh the sky itself spelled. Twilight Sparkle will you marrie me? Her shock was shattered as Dash spoke,”I know it's cheesy, but I wanted to surprise you. Spitfire and Applejack already knew my plan. I love you Twilight and I want to be with you for the rest of our lives. I just hope yo-
Her sentence nevered finished as Twilight slammed her lips down upon her own. Twilight cried as clinged to her love, “Yes! Yes, a thousand times yes!” The couple kissed once more. Twilight never saw a certain Wonderbolt captain and apple farmer high hoof in the distance, and she didn't care. She had caught her rainbow.
