Marble Magic

Prologue: One Night

Marigold stood in front of the iron wall inside the old mine. The door was wide open showing her the various items, objects, boxes, books, and even a few potions that lay neatly stacked just inside. The prized gem of this collection of magical artifacts was the black stave, its barbed wooden shaft along with the purple orb held tightly on the top by two grasping talons of wood gave it a menacing appearance. This was the very item that had given them so much trouble, the item that had destroyed several homes, villages and ruins in the course of its capture. Now however it was going to be locked away and never seen again.

“So,” Marigold said as the thick iron door closed shut. “It’s finally locked away.”

An middle aged stallion stood behind her, his golden fur and gray mane made him look quite fetching; or at least she always thought so. He smiled at her, and his horn took on a purple glow. A pair of keys levitated over to the door and locked it. “Yes, it is. I’m a bit saddened to have to lock up such an interesting specimen but the danger is just too great. The poor creature locked away inside that orb did not deserve her fate, I’m sure of it. But that stave was created with dark magic, surely whatever was in there is now so corrupt that she’d cause such great chaos in Equestria that we would end up calling her the second coming of Discord.”

“Discord is nothing but a statue, those old legends are bull. Besides, it’s locked away now, what harm can it do?” Marigold asked.

“Easy, should a creature of magic other than a proper descendent touch it… well you’ve seen what it can do first hoof,” he explained.

“Goldie,” she said. “It’s not that bad… is it?”

“You have three kids, yes?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’m actually looking to have another one…” She said, adding an unspoken question to her words.

He smiled at her. The picture of a golden oak tree was stuck to his flank. Being the resident wizard for Celestia had some interesting perks, one of which just so happened to be that he got to do all kinds of crazy research. Marigold might have been Celestia’s magician, but that was a different job entirely. Actually it was a self imposed title that Celestia just accepted more than anything else, the truth was a bit darker, Marigold was Celestia’s go to pony for all the dark and creepy matters. If it went bump in the night and somepony got hurt, you could bet that Marigold was on the case or at least made aware of it.

“Three kids makes it hard to do this job already, and yet you want another one?” He asked.

She shrugged. “I love kids, and I need somepony to replace me. Somepony to take my place as the royal magician, in all honesty the more kids I have the better chance there is that at least one of them will pick up my magic.”

“So you’re looking for yet another unicorn stallion with good magic to breed with?” He asked.

Marigold looked away. “Well I am in heat…”

“Where are your kids?”

“They’re at home, oldest is watching them, you know little Nix.”

“That was a terrible nickname.”

“Shut up, it’s adorable for a unicorn.”

He sighed. “Well how about I take you home, I wouldn’t want to stay out any longer than ne-“

He didn’t get to finish before Marigold jumped him, and threw him to the ground. She shoved her muzzle against his and hot tongues met. For a moment she pulled away and grinned fiercely down at him. He smiled up at her.

“We’re making a baby now,” She said.

“You always did want to jump my bones, didn’t you?”

“Shut up and get to work, sexy,” She said.

She leaned down to kiss him once more. Things were just about to get real crazy real fast, and she couldn’t be happier.
