My life

Chapter 1 where it all began (edited)

Hey there… is this thing on?!" I called out to the webcam as I saw the face of an equestrian citizen on a chat site. "Please, you have to listen to me.... I know what I am and what we did in Canterlot, but I ain't like her… please, you have to help me," I pleaded to the stallion on the other end of the webcam, who looked gobsmacked to see — well — a nude changeling princess such as myself before him, pussy and bust showing to the world.

Oh, I'm sorry, how rude of me… I'm Shadow, by the way, the protagonist and lead role of the Changeling Alliance's latest story. I know, a fourth wall break — shoot me — I ain't Pinkie Pie, so don't count on that happening much, Jamie. Yeesh, the guy’s paranoid, but hey, on with the story. Before I reveal too much, I must take you back to the time it was seemingly beautiful and peaceful, back to my childhood.

Seven years before the attacking on Canterlot…

It was a good day in the hive and I was wandering through the hive to look at the Library of Queens, where every document in our hive’s millennia history was kept for the eyes of the queen only. Me, being a rash teenager, thought that due to being next in line to my mother's throne after my sister had been exiled for supplying love to her 'boyfriend', who was a drone from a hive we were at war with over the Everfree Forest hive, which was the one my family won in the year Nightmare Moon was exiled after the battle between Celestia and her evil sister killed the occupying Queen and my ancestors moved in. Basically I wanted to read all that history in the library!

Anyhow, enough history… as I was saying, I thought I could get inside the library, when I heard a familiar voice behind me… Mother.

"Shadow Nocturnus Aura, where are you going?" the voice belonging to my mum said from behind me. "Now don't lie; I’ll know if you do!"

"Hi mum, I was just heading to the library," I said honestly. Luckily there were two in the hive that spread like a network of caves across the most part of the Everfree Forest underground. Hopefully Chrysalis thought I mean the non-restricted one.

"Oh really now," Chrysalis replied walking around me with a grin on her face as if she was teasing me like a predator did prey. "I know you are heading to the Library of Queens and I am not letting you!" she said with a smirk, as she picked me up in her magic, making me feel weak compared to her grasp as I tried to get free.

"Ah come on, mum, put me down! I just want to read the history of our hive — not just the stuff in the books. I want to know everything from before Everfree and back to the first hive!" I groaned as I wriggled and jiggled to get out of the floating magical grip I was currently suspended in.

"Well, Shadow, I may let you go, but remember what happened to Amethyst when she went snooping in there," Chrysalis said with a sigh as she looked at an ironically placed painting of Amethyst, her and me. That had been painted years ago — before Amethyst left after a row with mother to go rule a country somewhere over the badlands border, taking a disguise of a white alicorn with a beautiful multi-colored mane that flowed in an unseen wind and flew away towards the mountains of what we know of as Equestria. I miss her so much but mother said she went because she hated the both of us. If only that were true.
