//------------------------------// // Chapter 2: Night of the First Day // Story: The Legend of Zelda: The Hylian Wondercolt // by Golden Flare //------------------------------// Night fell as you found yourself in the company of your new friends, whom of which you learned that they started a band called the "Rainbooms", all in their pajamas, making you blush as you've never been this casual with anyone but your parents. Sunset sensed your nervousness and walked over to you. "Hey, you okay?" "I-I'll be f-fine." you reply. "Ya don't sound like yer fine, partner," Applejack jumped into the conversation, "what's wrong?" "It...I-I-It's just—" "I see what's going on here," Rainbow interjected, "you've never seen a girl in her PJ's, have ya?" Your mouth wouldn't respond, so you shook your head. Rainbow chuckled, "It's cool. Guys like you would kill to be in a girl's slumber party, but you're nervous to be in one. For a kid, you're pretty mature for your age." Suddenly your voice came back, "'Kid'? I'm 15 years old." "Don't be offended, it's a compliment." "Okay, then." you say, unsure. You heard the doorbell ring. "Pizza's here!" Pinkie cheered, and everyone left the room but you. Then, you heard a sound outside. You get up and decide to investigate, just before Pinkie came back. "Don't you want any—huh?" she looked around the room, "Where'd he go?" You walked out the back door and looked around, it was dark, but you could make out a bunch of rocks, a tree, and bushes. You climb up the tree and break off a dead branch to use as a weapon. "I know you're there. Show yourself." Nothing at first, but then two blobs of goop, one red, one green, slowly slid out in the open with a quiet slurping sound. Your eyes go wide as you know what they are, "Oh, no..." The door opens to reveal Fluttershy, who appeared to be looking for you as she called your name. You panicked and turned to her. "Fluttershy, get back in the house!" "W-W-What's wrong?" Too late, the blobs took form; they were round-like and bulbous with big, beady eyes and expressionless mouths. Fluttershy screamed and ran back inside, but you took a defensive stance with your stick as they hopped to you. "ChuChu's." you growl. Fluttershy ran through the house until she found her friends. "What is it, Fluttershy? Did you find him?" Rainbow asked. Fluttershy muttered your name as gasped for air, "...Monsters...needs our help...!" "Monsters?!" they all shriek. They followed Fluttershy to the backyard, where you whacked the red ChuChu on the left with the stick, then the green one on the right, then back to the red one, your attacks went back and forth until you heard the girls called your name. You turn your head, "Girls, get back in the house, I'm handling this!" "No way!" Rainbow yelled, "We're not leaving you to do this on your own!" The red ChuChu hops towards you, forcing you to put both hands on the stick, holding it back, "I won't let you risk your lives!" "And you aren't?!" "These things are weak, trust me!" "How do YOU know?!" "Because they came from my homeland!" A collective gasp came from the Rainbooms, you ignored them and pushed forward, staggering the red ChuChu, you took your chance and swung as hard as you could, making it squeal in agony as it disappeared in a cloud of black smoke, leaving behind a drop of red goo. You picked it up and pocketed it, then focused your attention on the green ChuChu, only for it to be hit by a soccer ball and squeal like its brother, evaporating into the same cloud as the last one and a drop of green goo came from it, you did the same as before and pocketed it. When you looked back at the girls, they looked astonished, surprised, and angry, you knew you had some explaining to do. You returned inside with the others and explained to them the monsters you fought and how it's a normal occurrence back in Hyrule, but you don't know how they got here. "If what you're saying is true..." Sunset ponders for a moment, "...then that must mean, there's more of them, and not just the 'ChuChu's', as you call them." "Yes, there are many more types of monsters back at home." Your response made the girls gasp in shock and fear. "But if any of the officials find this out, they'll blame it on Hyrule and bring about a civil war between our two countries." "Then we'll take care of these things personally!" Rainbow declared, punching her open palm. "'We'?" you ask, "Uh, last I checked, I told you all to—" "Don't even try, darling," Rarity stopped you, "we're in this together, whether you like it or not." "She's right," Sunset agreed, "you don't have to shoulder this burden alone." "But this isn't your—" "Ah wouldn't finish that sentence, partner," Applejack interrupted, "ya mess with one of us, ya mess with all of us!" They all cheered as they agreed. In your frustration, your abruptly stood up from your seat, "I can't guarantee your safety if you all go through with this!" Though slightly deterred, one stepped up to speak, it was Pinkie, "We're no stranger to danger!" "And you're all sure about this?" They nod. "There's no turning back if you agree, you know." "We understand." Sunset said. You sigh, exasperated, "...Okay." "Good. Now let's grab a slice of pizza and head to bed." You and the girls did just that, but the night was almost sleepless as the thought of getting these girls involved and getting hurt plagued your mind until the exhaustion from your previous battle caught up to you. The last thought that crossed your mind before sleep took you was that you needed training and a better weapon.
