Chapter 16: Will VS. Silver

Silver took his position on the side of the field, opposite of Will, "Alright, the six on six Pokemon battle between Will of Mahogany Town and Silver of Viridian City will now begin! The same rules apply. For the first part of the match, each trainer is allowed five Pokemon. The sixth Pokemon will be a Pokemon that can use Mega Evolution. The match will be over when all six of either sides Pokemon is unable to battle. Pokemon substitutions will be permitted by both sides. If both trainers are ready, choose your first Pokemon!" Cindy called.

"Weavile, come out now!" Silver said, throwing a Pokeball, releasing a Weavile.

"Ok, Ninetails, I need your assistance!" Will called, releasing a beautiful, yellow nine tailed fox.

"Amazing!" Rarity commented, pointing her Pokedex at the fox.

"Ninetails, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Vulpix. According to legends, each one of Ninetails' tails holds a mysterious power, allowing it to live for a thousand years," the Pokedex said.

"Alright, battle, BEGIN!" Cindy exclaimed.

"Return Weavile!" Silver said, recalling Weavile.

"Why switch out now?" Cadence asked.

"Weavile is an ice type Pokemon, so it'll have a hard time against a fire type like Ninetails," Nathan replied.

"I see, so he wants to switch out for a water, ground, or rock type Pokemon," Trinity commented.

"Feraligatr, come out now!" Silver called, releasing a large, blue bipedal crocodile Pokemon with red crests on its back.

"Feraligatr is a water type. Not good for Ninetails," Nathan commented.

"You want to switch out Ninetails?" Will called.

"No need," Ninetails replied. Will knew what she meant by this, and smiled.

"Alright, battle begin!" Cindy declared.

"Feraligatr, use Surf!" Silver ordered. Feraligatr summoned a tidal wave that was headed straight for Ninetails.

"Ninetails, use Dig!" Will instructed. Ninetails burrowed its way underground, completely dodging the tidal wave.

"Aim Water Pulse at the hole!" Silver ordered. Feraligatr began charging a ball of water, but its concentration was cut off when Ninetails emerged from beneath Feraligatr, causing it to stagger.

"Use Energy Ball!" Will instructed. Ninetails launched a green ball at Feraligatr.

"Come on, use Water Pulse!" Silver ordered. Feraligatr slammed a ball of water down on the ground, sending a shockwave of water at Ninetails.

"Double Team," Will whispered. Several copies of Ninetails appeared.

"What is that?" Twilight asked.

"A move called 'Double Team'. Its a move that raises a Pokémon's evasiveness in battle," Nathan replied.

"Now, Will-o-Wisp!" Will instructed. All the Ninetails' launched purple flames at Feraligatr, causing it to go up in flames.

"What's Will-o-Wisp?" Fluttershy asked.

"It a move that inflicts burn status on your opponent. Not only does it gradually reduce the Pokémon's endurance, but it also cuts their attack power in half," Nathan explained.

"Alright Ninetails, use Hex!" Will instructed. Ninetails' eyes glowed a mysterious purple color, as wisps appeared around Feraligatr.

"What's that?" Twilight asked.

"A move called Hex. When a Pokemon is afflicted with a status, Hex's power in doubled," Nathan replied. Feraligatr looked to be struggling with the wisps. Eventually, Feraligatr fell to the ground with swirls in its eyes.

"Feraligatr is unable to battle, the winner is Ninetails!" Cindy declared.

"A fire Pokemon beat a water type? How can that be?" Celestia asked.

"Ah would say it was because o' that Energy Ball from early. Energy Ball is a grass type move, so its super effective against water types," Nathan replied. Silver recalled Feraligatr, and held another Pokeball.

"Alright, Magnezone, get out here!" Silver yelled, as he released a rather unusual looking Pokemon. It appeared to be a floating space station with magnets. Pinkie Pie pointer her Pokedex at Magnezone.

"Magnezone, the Magnet Area Pokemon, and the evolved form of Magneton. This Pokemon evolved due to exposure to strong magnetic fields," the Pokedex said.

"Ninetails, take a breather!" Will said, recalling the fox Pokemon, and pulling out another Pokeball, "Alright, Garchomp, I need your assistance!" Will called, releasing a large shark like Pokemon, that had a body shape similar to a jet plane. Applejack pointed her Pokedex at it.

"Garchomp, the Mach Pokemon, and the final evolved for of Gible. When it folds its arms in, it can go at speeds of Mach 9," the Pokedex said.

"Since Garchomp is a Ground type, electric type moves won't have any effect," Nathan commented.

"Alright, battle BEGIN!" Cindy exclaimed.

"Garchomp, use Sand Tomb!" Will instructed. A vortex of sand formed around the ground bellow Magnezone.

"Magnezone, use Magnet Rise!" Silver ordered. Magnezone then floated up, out of range of the sand.

"What was that?" Vibrant asked.

"A move called 'Magnet Rise'. It makes all ground type moves ineffective using electromagnetism," Nathan replied.

"But, wasn't Magnezone already floating?" Pinkie asked.

"Ah don't really understand it mahself," Nathan simply replied.

"Garchomp, use Dragon Claw!" Will instructed. Garchomp's claw turned green, as it slashed at Magnezone. The attack caused Magnezone to go spiraling back, "Now use Fire Fang!" Will instructed. Garchomp's teeth became engulfed in flames, as it bit down onto Magnezone, causing an explosion. When the smoke cleared, Garchomp stood over the fainted Magnezone.

"Magnezone is unable to battle, the winner is Garchomp!" Cindy declared.

"Magnezone didn't even get one hit in!" Rainbow Dash commented.

"Garchomp must be well trained," Chris added, as Silver recalled his Magnezone, and pulled out another Pokeball.

"Crobat, out her now!" Silver said, releasing a large, four winged bat. Fluttershy pointed her Pokedex at the bat.

"Crobat, the Bat Pokemon, and the evolved form of Golbat. Its four wings allow it to make near impossible movements," the Pokedex said.

"You want to take a breather?" Will asked.

"Yes, thank you," Garchomp replied, as Will recalled him.

"Lets see, a Crobat. In that case," Will said, holding up a Luxury Ball, "Aegislash, I need your assistance!" Will said, releasing a Pokemon that looked like a sword with a shield in front of it. Twilight pointed her Pokedex at Aegislash.

"Aegislash, the Royal Sword Pokemon, and the evolved form of Doublade. According to records, the Pokemon attended generations of Kings. It has the ability to detect innate qualities of leadership. Whoever this Pokemon recognizes is destined to be King," the Pokedex said.

"Must be from that 'Kalos' region," Nathan commented.

"What do you mean?" Joshua asked.

"All the games I have go up to the Unova region. There haven't been any Pokemon like Aegislash, or that Pangoro in any o' the previous regions. SO I don't know what to expect from these Pokemon," Nathan replied.

"Alright, battle, BEGIN!" Cindy declared.

"Crobat, Night Slash!" Silver ordered. Crobat's wings became cloaked in dark energy.

"Aegislash, use King's Shield!" Will instructed. A barrier appeared in front of Aegislash, protecting Aegislash from Night Slash. Crobat seemed winded, as it bounced back.

"Crobat looks tired," Clover commented.

"Well, Will did say that King's Shield is the signature move for Aegislash. It not only protects the Pokemon using it, but it also decreases the attack power of the opponent, if the opponent used a physical move," Cadence said.

"Alright, now to go to offense, Aegislash, use Sacred Sword!" Will instructed. Aegislash then tossed the shield up, and grabbed it with ribbon like hands. Then, the sword part of it glowed, and struck Crobat. The latter hit the ground hard.

"Snap out of it, and use Night Slash!" Silver ordered. Crobat's wings became cloaked in the dark energy again.

"Aegislash, use Hyper Beam at the last second!" Will instructed. Aegislash began charging up power for Hyper Beam as it awaited Crobat to come in closer. Once close enough, Aegislash unleashed a powerful orange colored beam at Crobat, hitting the bat Pokemon at point blank range, causing an explosion. When the smoke cleared, Crobat was on the ground with swirls in its eyes.

"Crobat is unable to battle, the victor is Aegislash!" Cindy declared.

"Crobat didn't get in a hit either," Applejack said.

"Will's Pokemon are all well trained," Fluttershy commented, as Silver recalled Crobat.

"Alright, Alakazam, get out here now!" Silver yelled, releasing a yellow, bipedal Pokemon with a long moustache. It also had two spoons in each of its hands. Fluttershy pointed her Pokedex at Alakazam.

"Alakazam, the Psy Pokemon, and the evolved form of Kadabra. Alakazam has an I.Q. of 1500. Because of its massive brain, it has intelligence rivaling a supercomputer," the Pokedex said.

"Aegislash, return!" Will said, recalling Aegislash.

"Why recall Aegislash?" Shining Armor asked.

"After launching Hyper Beam, a Pokemon can't move for a while," Nathan replied.

"Alright, Chandelure, I need your assistance!" Will called, releasing a Pokemon that looked like a chandelier. Twilight pointed her Pokedex at Chandelure.

"Chandelure, the Luring Pokemon, and the evolved form of Lampent. The spirits burned up in its ominous flames lose their way and wander this world forever," the Pokedex said.

"Battle BEGIN!" Cindy declared.

"Alakazam, use Safeguard!" Silver ordered. A green barrier appeared around Alakazam.

"What's that?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"Safeguard," Nathan replied, "Its a move that prevents status change. My guess is that Silver doesn't want Chandelure usin' any moves like Will-o-Wisp or Confuse Ray."

"Chandelure, use Shadow Ball!" Will instructed. Chandelure fired a ball of darkness at Alakazam, who didn't dodge in time, and was hit with Shadow Ball, causing it to skid back, "Now use Dark Pulse!" Will instructed. Chandelure fired a blast of dark rings at Alakazam, who is still trying to shake off Shadow Ball, and is ultimately struck with Dark Pulse. Alakazam hit the ground hard, and had swirls in its eyes. Silver, and the ponies could hardly believe their eyes.

"Alakazam is unable to battle, the winner is Chandelure!" Cindy declared.

"That's three in a row that got wiped out without dealing any damage to Will's Pokemon," Timmy commented, as Silver recalled Alakazam.

"Weavile, out here now!" Silver called, rereleasing Weavile.

"Dark type Pokemon like Weavile have an advantage over Ghost Type Chandelure, but at the same time, Fire type Pokemon like Chandelure have an advantage over Ice type Pokemon like Weavile," Nathan commented.

"Chandelure, return!" Will said, recalling Chandelure, "Now lets see, who should I send in now?" Will said to himself. He then pulled out a Pokeball, "Gardevoir, I need your assistance!" Will said, releasing a shiny Gardevoir. It twinkled when it appeared.

"Why use Gardevoir?! Psychic Pokemon are a terrible choice against Dark Types!" Nathan exclaimed.

"Well, according to this, Gardevoir is Psychic and Fairy Type Pokemon," Twilight said, looking at her Pokedex.

"Wait, 'Fairy Type'?" Nathan asked.

"Another new concept?" Cadence asked.

"Well, there are Fairy Egg groups, but Ah've never heard of a Fairy Type Pokemon before," Nathan replied.

"Maybe this Fairy Type attribute is an advantage over Dark Types?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Probably," Nathan replied.

"Alright, battle, begin!" Cindy declared.

"Weavile, Swords Dance!" Silver commanded. Weavile's claws glowed, and elongated and swung them around.

"Gardevoir, Double Team," Will instructed. Multiple clones of Gardevoir appeared. Weavile became disoriented by this move.

"Weavile, use Blizzard!" Silver commanded. Weavile summoned a blizzard that mowed down all of the copies, except for the real Gardevoir, who appeared right behind Weavile, "Behind you!" Silver called.

"Gardevoir, Moon Blast," Will said. Gardevoir launched a pink ball of energy at Weavile, sending it rolling across the ground.

"Snap out of it, and use Shadow Claw!" Silver ordered. Weavile's claws became cloaked in dark energy, as it charged at Gardevoir. Will nodded to Gardevoir, who appeared to teleport away from Weavile.

"Keep using Shadow Claw until you hit it!" Silver ordered. Weavile stepped up its speed, as it tried to land a hit on Gardevoir.

"Gardevoir, use Dazzling Gleam," Will whispered. Gardevoir then shone in a very bright light that seemed to have an effect on Weavile, as it hit the ground with swirls in its eyes.

"Weavile is unable to battle, the winner is Gardevoir!" Cindy declared. Silver looked in disbelief at what had happened, as he recalled Weavile.

"Excellent work Gardevoir, take a breather," Will said, recalling the Embrace Pokemon. He then pulled out another Pokeball, "Well Silver, its about time for our own Mega Pokemon Showdown, right?" Will asked.

"Yes, and I won't lose!" Silver said, gripping another Pokeball, "Now, Gengar, out here now!" Silver said, releasing a black Pokemon with red eyes and a sinister smile. It also had a wristband with a Mega Stone.

"Alright, Scizor, I need your assistance!" Will said, releasing a red mantis like Pokemon with claws that had eye patterns on it. On one of the pincers was, was a Mega Stone.

"So Gengar n' Scizor can Mega Evolve too," Nathan commented. Twilight and Rarity pointed their Pokedex's at the two Pokemon.

"Gengar, the Shadow Pokemon, and the evolved form of Haunter. It is said that whenever Gengar is nearby, its usually ten degrees colder," Twilight's Pokedex said.

"Scizor, the Pincer Pokemon, and the evolved form of Scyther. Scizor uses the eye like patterns on its claws to intimidate its opponents," Rarity's Pokedex said.

"So, which Pokemon has the advantage?" Toby asked Nathan.

"Hard ta say. Bug Type moves ain't very effective on Ghost and Poison types like Gengar, but at the same time, Ghost type moves aren't very effective on a steel type like Scizor. On that note, Poison type moves won't do anything since Scizor is a steel type," Nathan explained.

"Alright, battle begin!" Cindy declared. Silver touched the Key Stone on his wrist, which released energy that caused Gengar's Mega Stone to react, and give off similar energy. Gengar then become wrapped in Mega Evolution energy. Once the light died off, Gengar had changed. It no looked to have three legs, and was melding into the ground, and had a yellow ring between its eyes.

"So that's Mega Gengar," Nathan commented.

"Gengar, use Will-o-Wisp!" Silver ordered. Gengar then launched several balls of blue fire at Scizor.

"Metal Claw on the ground!" Will instructed. Scizor's claw turned metallic, and slammed the ground, creating a wall of dust that blocked Will-o-Wisp, "Guess it's time for us to even the playing field," Will said, touching the Key Stone on his wrist, "Alright Scizor, Mega Evolve!" Will said, raising his Key Stone, which caused Scizor's mega stone to react. Being wrapped in the Mega Evolution energy, Scizor's pincers became longer, more jagged, and armor appeared all over it's exoskeleton.

"Mega Scizor, looks like a good striker," Shining Armor commented.

"Now, Scizor, use Flash Cannon!" Will instructed. Scizor then fired a volley of white energy at Gengar.

"Dodge it!" Silver ordered. Gengar then sunk into the ground, just as the Flash Cannon hit where it was standing, "Now use Shadow Ball!" Gengar appeared behind Scizor, and fired Shadow Ball at it.

"Double Team," Will instructed, and multiple copies of Scizor appeared, as the Shadow Ball phased through one of the copies. Gengar became disoriented, as it tried to keep up with the original, "Now, use Shadow Claw!" Will instructed. Scizor then appeared behind Gengar, and slashed it with its claw, shrouded in darkness. The result was an explosion that sent Gengar flying. When the smoke cleared, Gengar was on the ground, completely unconscious with swirls in its eyes.

"Gengar is unable to battle, the winner is Scizor, so the victor is Will!" Cindy declared.

"Scizor must've had high attack power even without Mega Evolution," Trinity commented.

"Seeing as how it took Gengar out with one hit," Mike added, as Silver recalled Gengar.

"Silver, your Pokémon are all well trained, but I would suggest treating them with more kindness," Will said.

"Pfft, as if kindness can help Pokémon grow stronger. Power is everything in Pokémon," Silver said.

"I disagree. Kindness can make any Pokémon stronger," Will said. Silver just shrugged it off, and went to sit at the bleachers, "Alright, Tripp, it's your turn. But first, I'll go get the next six Pokemon," Will said, looking at Tripp.

"Understood," Tripp replied, as went over to his side of the battlefield.

However, unbeknownst to our heroes, a hidden camera was watching them, "As you can see, the Ho-Oh trainer has taken up residence in this new world, as a means to avoid anymore battles," Cassidy said.

"I still find it hard to believe there exists such a place, but thankfully, we can still track down the trainer thanks to the residual energy that we found where his ranch was at," a high pitched man said.

"What are your orders, Professor Nanba?" Butch asked.

"We go to this new world, and steal every one of his Pokémon that can Mega Evolve. That way, we can further my research on how to create artificial Mega Stones," Professor Nanba replied.

"Speaking of which, sir, the artificial Key Stones you provided us, and the rest of Team Rocket are working like a charm. We can Mega Evolve all of our Pokémon," Butch said.

"Of course they work! I made them myself!" Nanba replied, annoyed.
