The Blu team ate their dinner of bacon together. No one said anything at all. But everyone noticed Engie staring at Buttley. He just ignored it. But Spy decided to speak up.
"Engineer!" he said, "Can you stop staring at Buttley? Seriously it's getting really annoying."
"Sorry." he said, "But I noticed, he always loves the mornings, and hates the night, because there's no fun right?" Everyone nodded. "Then why are you so happy to go to bed every time you leave?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Buttley protested.
2 days after Christmas
"See you all tomorrow!" Creeps said as he left base.
"Too bad we can't kick Red team's butt right?" Engie asked Buttley. But he was just giving a small smile.
"What? Oh, right!" he said. Engie stopped in his tracks, leaving Buttley on his way to the main entrance.
2 months later
Everyone looks at Buttley with confused looks. All, but Jess.
"I know what he's hiding." Jess said. Buttley looked at Jess, and the others looked at her.
"Y-you do?" he asked
"Yeah. But you guys have to find out for yourselves." The others got back to their dinner, while Jess got up, and left. Demoman did the same. Heavy, Scout, and Creeps also left. Buttley got up, said goodbye, and left. Engie got up, and talked to Spy and Pyro.
"I'm gonna follow Buttley." he said, "You with me?" Spy nodded, and Pyro gave a thumbs up. They left, and followed Buttley to his shack 5 minutes away. It was pretty small, but still good for a home. He went in a room, and came out wearing a yellow shirt, with red shorts. Engie peeked through the window near the door, while Spy and Pyro looked through the window at the bedroom. Engie saw them, and went over to them. They saw a large yellow bed, and Buttley was lying down on it. He waited for a while, then got up, and walked over to a chest by the corner. The 3 couldn't see what was inside, but Buttley put it on his bed, and searched around it. He took out a few pictures, a rubber flower, and glasses with square lens.
"Uh oh!" he said, "Where is it?" He kept searching for what he was looking for, and finally saw it. He brought out a plush doll that looked like Twilight from Red team, but she was wearing what Buttley wore. It made her look like a real medic. He kept it when Twilight gave it to him.
Last Christmas
Buttley left base, even though the others were still partying, and getting drunk. All, but one.
"Hey!" Scout said.
"Hey Scout." he said
"Lemme guess. You're gonna see that Twilight girl aren't you?"
"Yeah."
"If it wasn't for you and her, we could've been killed by those robots until they destroy our spawnpoint!"
"I know."
"See ya!" He went back inside, and left Buttley out in the cold. He walked for a few minutes, until he reached his shack. Outside it, Twilight was there drinking something out of a bottle. It wasn't beer, because he, Jess and Creeps know she's the only one who doesn't like beer. Her drink was a bottle of soda.
"Hey!" Buttley called out.
"Hey!" Twilight said.
"What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you."
"Why?"
"I got you something." She got a small box, and put it in Buttley's pocket.
"Me too." He opened the door, and gave her a necklace.
"Where did you get that?"
"I asked Spy what I should give you, and he gave me this." Then, he grabbed Twilight's gift, and unwrapped it. It was a brown box. He opened it, and saw a little Twilight plushie. Her eyes were purple buttons, and she had a smile stitched on her face. The little clothing was what Buttley wears in battle. He stroked a cheek, then stroked the real Twilight's cheek. "Your cheek is softer than the plushie's. Where did you get this?"
"Your Spy isn't the only gift master y'know." Twilight finished her drink, and put it in the trash can.
"You should be proud." Buttley said.
"Why's that?" she asked.
"You made peace between our teams."
"With your help."
"Wanna watch movies?"
"Sure." They went in, and they sat on the gray couch. Twilight removed her goggles in front of Buttley for the first time. Her eyes were purple. A few movies later, Twilight left. Buttley got dressed, and sat on his bed. He looked at the Twilight plushie, hugged it, and went to sleep.
"I'm keeping you forever." he murmured.
To the present once more!
Spy started laughing as quietly as he can. Pyro just stared at Buttley, and Engie shook his head. Spy wiped a tear from his eye, and coughed.
"He really likes this Twilight fella doesn't he?" Engie asked.
"He asked me what gift he should get her." Spy said. Pyro said something. "Yes let's" The 3 walked back to their respective places.
At Red base before all of that
"Hey Twilight." Scout said while Twilight put another strip of bacon into her mouth.
"Yes?" she asked.
"Where did you get the necklace?" she looked at the silver necklace with a diamond on it.
"From Buttley." she said.
"You like him don't you?" Dash teased. The others started to laugh.
"You like Creeps though don't you?" Twilight shot back. Dash blushed, and Pinkamena said something.
"Shots fired." she said.
"If it wasn't for purple woman's boyfriend," Heavy said, "we would be DEAD!" Everyone flinched, and Heavy smiled.
"He isn't my boyfriend." Twilight said.
"Yet!" Scout said. Everyone started laughing.
"So I assume the gift I made was good?" Spy asked.
"He liked it Spy. Thanks."
"Anytime."
The day after Spy, Engie, and Pyro spied on Buttley
As he approached the base, Engie went close to him. And whispered something in his ears.
"Cute little plushie ya got." he said. Buttley looked at him with a worried look. Then he reached into his doctor's blouse, and took out the plushie.
"I was gonna show it to everybody today." he said, and he did. Everyone, but Heavy laughed at him. But he was okay. Just as long as the plushie was.
