Discord looks around him, he's standing in a clearing of the Everfree forest, he can tell he's dreaming, being the spirit of chaos makes it so all his dreams are lucid dreams. He had been enjoying a lovely picnic with Fluttershy until he had suddenly been transported to the Everfree forest. Discord knew somepony was messing with his dreams, he had tried to leave the forest but only ended up flying around for hours without getting anywhere, he just kept coming back to this clearing over and over again. He puts a talon to his chin trying to think of who could be messing with him, he scowls as his mind wonders to the pink pony who had been in the cave with him. She'd better be okay.
"HELP ME!!" Fluttershy's voice rings through his ears, Discord looks up toward the sky where the voice had come from. The sky rips apart as a golden bolt of lightening shrouded in a black shadow bursts through the air, the message plays again as the bolt strikes the ground in front of Discord. He shields his eyes from the bright flash of light, after a moment he moves his hand and is surprised to see that the forest is gone and he is now standing in a empty black void. He glares angrily at the only other pony standing in the void, Lord Sombra.
"Hello Discord." Sombra says, as he smirks at Discord, Discord narrows his eyes at the lord of shadows.
"Sombra how did you get in my mind?" Discord's claws pop out of his paw, Sombra chuckles evilly. Sombra's horn glows and an image of Fluttershy appears in the air near him.
"She invited me." Discord flinches at the appearance of Fluttershy, he growls in anger as Sombra reaches out and puts his hoof on her chin."She is very pretty Discord." Sombra pulls the image of Fluttershy with him as he dodges a swipe of Discord's claws.
"Please Discord don't get mad." Discord blinks at the sound of Fluttershy's voice, he looks away from Sombra and toward the image of Fluttershy, tears have started to well up in her eyes.
"But Fluttershy he's hurting you." Discord's ears droop, and his eyes burn with anger.
"I haven't hurt her." As Sombra speaks one of his blades appears behind Fluttershy, he grins as he continues. "Yet."
"If you hurt even one hair on her head I'll-" Discord growls out in anger, but he's interrupted by Fluttershy.
"What are you going to do Discord?" Fluttershy's eyes looking at him pleadingly, Sombra chuckles.
"Yes Discord what will you do?" Sombra says as the blade inches closer to Fluttershy's chest.
"Don't lose your temper Discord." Closer.
"Aren't you going to save her Discord?" Closer.
"Stay calm this isn't real." Closer.
"Let loose Discord It's the only way to save her." Closer.
"She needs you Discord only you can save her." Closer.
"The real Fluttershy is fine Discord don't lose control." Closer.
"Isn't she worth protecting no matter what?" The blade is touching Fluttershy's chest right above where her heart is, Discord clenches his fists and shakes with rage.
"No I'm not worth it." Discord's eyes widen, he knows this is all fake, he knows that isn't really Fluttershy, but at that moment he doesn't care. His paw stretches out and punches Sombra in the face, while his talon grabs the blade and throws it away before grabbing the image of Fluttershy and bringing her close to him. He looks down at Fluttershy and gives her a tender smile.
"Are you ok?" The image of Fluttershy looks up at him with sad eyes.
"I told you Fluttershy's not worth it." Discord scowls at the Fluttershy he is holding, but chuckles slightly at the knowledge that the real Fluttershy would say something similar.
"Yes she is even a fake Fluttershy is more important to me then anything." The image of Fluttershy can't help but smile at Discord's words.
"Then this should be easier then I thought." Discord turns to look at the source of the voice but stops part way as a knife fly's through the air striking the image of Fluttershy in the chest, her body starts turning black, Discord and her lock eyes, her eyes are full of fear.
"Discord don't lose control I'm not the real Fluttershy, stay calm, don't-" The image of Fluttershy bursts into smoke and fades away. Discord spins around and glares at Sombra his eyes burning with rage, for the first time Discord doesn't care what Fluttershy just said, the only thing he cares about is killing the pony standing in front of him.
"What's the matter Discord? Not real enough for you?" Sombra laughs manically. "If you want I can go get the real Fluttershy and we can start the game over ag-" Sombra is interrupted as a paw slams into his chin sending him skyward.
"I'll make you regret coming anywhere near her Sombra!" Discord shouts at Sombra as he swings his talon hand at the lord of shadows. A small black portal appears and Sombra draws a long black and red blade from the portal blocking Discord's attack. Sombra smirks at Discord, who takes a second to roll his eyes despite his anger. What is up with villains today and wielding swords. Discord puts his talon fingers together and his talon arm turns into serrated steel, his talon arm pops off and grows a hilt shaped like an ice cream cone, he wields the new talon arm sword in his paw hand, he grows a new talon arm. Sombra glows black and stands up on his hind legs so he's closer to Discords height, while Discord glows red to match his anger, they both swing their blades at each other sparks fly as the blades collide over and over again, the two strike so fast that normal ponies wouldn't be able to follow the battle. With each strike the void of darkness surroundings them cracks under the power the two beings possess. They both swing their swords once more the force of the blow shatters the dark void leaving the two in a colorless limbo, they hold their swords together they lean into their blades pushing against each other.
"Good at sword fighting to? Is there anything you can't do Discord?" Sombra asks jokingly a sinister smirk on his face, his smirk widens when Discord only growls in response. Suddenly Sombra kicks out his hind hoof hitting Discord in the chest, the blow sends the spirit of chaos flying through the air, he collides with a dream copy of the bed he conjured in the cave. Standing up from the bed he glares at Sombra bearing his teeth at the lord of shadows. Sombra laughs and dashes away from Discord flying over the forest the two have suddenly appeared in, Discord narrows his eyes at the retreating pony.
"You can't get away!" Discord shouts as he lunges toward Sombra flying through the air at speeds that rival a sonic rainboom, but no matter how fast Discord goes he can't seem to close the distance on Sombra. After a few minutes of flying Sombra suddenly stops, Discord notices his opponent stop but doesn't slow down as seconds later he slams into Sombra sending the lord of shadows hurtling through the air, Discord lost all momentum when he collided with Sombra so he just floats in place as Sombra falls from the sky and crashes into a large rock quarry. Discord takes one second to look around their new battle arena theres nothing around but giant rocks most are as big as houses, Discord returns his gaze to the pony attempting to stand up, he throws his talon sword down at Sombra, and then quickly dashes after it, the blade pierces Sombra's back, and only a second later Discord slams his fist into the hilt with such force that the blade goes all the way through Sombra's body leaving only the hilt visible, the blow also caused a crater to form around Sombra. Discord grins down at his handy work, but his grin disappears when Sombra turns his head back to look at Discord, his own grin on his face.
"You didn't think it'd be that easy did you?" Sombra laughs manically as he fades into the shadows, Discord slams his fist into the hilt of his sword sending it borrowing into the ground, he looks around the rock quarry, his eyes widen at what he sees. Dozens of Sombra's are emerging from the large boulders that make up the quarry they're all staring at him malice in their eyes and their smiles. Discord narrows his eyes at the advancing forces.
"Oh you all want a piece huh?" Discord flashes the Sombra's a toothy grin. "Then let's dance." Discord dashes forward and punches one of the Sombra's in the chest sending him hurtling into a nearby boulder. He swings his tail slamming two more Sombra's into the ground. Discord teleports behind another Sombra and claws his back with his paw, he then turns toward a group of Sombra's that have started laughing, Discord charges energy into his talon and chucks a bolt of lightening at the crowd, the force of the blow sends them all flying through the air. Discord snaps his head toward the sound of hooves marching, a crazed look enters his eyes as he sees a battalion of Sombra's wielding their signature blades. Discord inhales deeply and breathes out a giant stream of purple fire that engulfs the battalion. Discord laughs manically as he watches the Sombra's burn, his laughter stops and his eyes narrow as the large boulders of the quarry begin to shift into copies of Sombra's giant form.
"Your really good at messing with dreams Sombra, but I can keep this up forever." Discord lunges forward and slams his fists into one of the large Sombra's, he instantly crumbles into stone. Discord continues zipping around the quarry slashing Sombra's with his claws and smashing giant Sombra's with his fists. Discord fly's into the air and floats above the rock quarry, he looks down at all the Sombra's glaring up at him, and all the giant Sombra's roaring up at him. Why is he sending this weak clones at me? He knows I don't tire out. Discord shakes his head.It doesn't matter! I'll just destroy them all! Discord puts his talon into the air and begins channeling energy into the air right above his palm, a ball of red energy begins forming above him, he glares down at the army below him. Suddenly a voice pierces the veil of darkness surrounding Discord's dream.
"Discord!" Discord looks around the sky for the source of the voice.
"Luna!" Discord shouts as a scowl appears on his face. No! She can't stop this dream yet, I can end it all here I just need to find the real Sombra. Discord catches sight of something flying towards him, another Sombra except this one has large smoke like wings.
"Hello again Discord." The winged Sombra hisses at Discord a sinister smile on his face, Discord returns with his own toothy grin.
"There you are!" Discord shouts as he hurls the incomplete ball of energy at Sombra, the red ball is meet with a beam of black energy and explodes in mid air. Discord dashes through the smoke and swings his paw fist at Sombra, who block it with one of his hooves. Sombra looks at the paw that collided with his fist.
"Ooo, soft." Sombra says sarcastically, Discord growls at the lord of shadows. Discord jumps back and opens both his hands, the fingers on his talon hand and the claws on his lion paw turn into solid gold.
"I'm going to tear you apart!" Discord lunges at Sombra once more swiping his claws at the lord of shadows, Sombra dodges swipe after swipe, and then blasts Discord in the chest with a beam from his horn. Discord fly's away a short distance, Discord blinks at Sombra as he regains his composure. That was weak is he even trying to hurt me.
"Discord you must stop!" Discord flinches at the sound of Luna's voice. "Sombra is in your mind, you must fight him!"
"What do you think I'm doing!" Discord screams as he dashes at Sombra once more, Sombra holds up a hoof to block Discord's attack, but Discord teleports just before they collide, Sombra's eyes widen as he turns his head to look behind him for the spirit of chaos. But Discord didn't teleport behind Sombra, Discord reappears in the same place he had been before vanishing. He swings his talon and slashes Sombra across the face, Sombra roars in pain as he clutches his left eye. Discord punches Sombra in the chest, Sombra reflexively clutches his stomach revealing his now bleeding eye, red blood drips down his face from the large gashes on the left side of his face, his eye refuses to open due to them. Discord grabs Sombra around the waist with his tail and slams him into the nearest boulder, and then swings him around into another boulder.
Discord releases his hold on Sombra and stabs his talon into Sombra back, and then flings Sombra across the quarry toward another boulder. When Sombra reaches that boulder Discord is already there and swipes Sombra into the air with his paw, red blood fly's through the air as his claws slice through Sombra' chest. Discord teleports into the air and grabs Sombra by the throat with his talon hand, he turns Sombra toward the ground and dives. As they plummet jets of fire shoot out of Discord's feet propelling them toward the ground faster, when they are a few feet away from the ground, their speed doubles like a sonic rainboom and they cause a giant explosion when they make impact with the ground. Discord and Sombra are now in a giant crater that has taken the place of over fifty feet of the rock quarry, rubble is scattered around everywhere. Discord glares down at the several wounded lord of shadows he's still holding by the neck, he digs his talons into Sombra's neck, red blood begins streaming down Discord's talon.
"D-Dis-cord." Discord's head snaps up at Luna's weak voice.
"Lulu?" Discord searches the area around him. Did she get caught up in that? Did Sombra hurt her when she tried to interfere?
"P-please... s-stop." Luna's voice echoes through Discord's ears. Suddenly Sombra starts laughing manically, causing Discord to glare down at the lord of shadows. Discord raise an eyebrow at the lord of shadows, his voice seems completely unaffected by the talon on his throat.
"What is so damn funny!?" Discord shouts at Sombra tightening his grip on his neck. Sombra smirks as he glares at Discord.
"You want to know what's funny?" Discord narrows his eyes at the lord of shadows and tightens his grip even more, causing more red blood to begin leaking out of Sombra's mouth, for the first time Discord notices the blood.
"Red blood?" Discord raises an eyebrow. "But I thought your blood was-"
"You still think your dreaming." Discord's eyes widen at this comment, and his grip loosens.
"What do you mean?" Sombra bursts into laughter.
"You'll find out in a minute." Discord opens his mouth to speak but is cut off by a blinding light ripping through the dark of night, Discord looks toward the light expecting to see Luna freeing him from his dream, what he sees instead causes his eyes to widen in panic, the sun raises over the horizon. As the light from the sun bathes the land the rubble of the rock quarry turns in debris from destroyed buildings, the giant Sombra fade into Canterlot houses and the Sombra clones become the citizens and royal guards of Canterlot. Discord takes a moment to look at the devastation the city has endured, tears well up in his eyes as the realization that he is the cause of it dawns on him. He catches sight if a figure approaching him, he turns and locks eyes with Princess Celestia. Her eyes burn with rage as she glares down the side of the crater at Discord.
"Release her." Discord flinches at the demand.
"W-what?" Discord stammers out, Celestia narrows her eyes at him.
"Release my sister." Celestia stomps her hoof and her horn begins to glow."NOW!"
"Your sister? I don't have-" Discord stops short as a thought comes to him, he slowly turns his head toward his talon, he gasps in horror as the bleeding and beaten body of the lord of shadows has been replaced with a different pony. Tears begin flowing from Discord's face as he gently removes his talon from around her neck, he stares at his bloody talon, his talon drips with blood, but that's not what has Discord the most concerned, his fingers which he thought he had turned into gold were instead curved and colored black and red matching the lord of shadows horn. He returns his gaze to the body lying in front of him, her eyes are closed, although only one is by choice, her body scarred in several places. Discord's tears fall onto her dark blue fur as he covers his eyes, and screams.
"Luna I'm so sorry!"
