//------------------------------// // Motherly Advice // Story: Returning Home // by RuinQueenofOblivion //------------------------------// It was a month after Scootaloo graduated from the Manehattan Police Academy and over two months into her pregnancy. She sighed as she got out of bed, Windswept was out doing, whatever she did during the day, Scootaloo had taken a few days off to try and clear her head. She sighed as she placed a hoof on her stomach, she was hardly showing yet, but she still was unsure about a lot of things. She wasn't even sure if she would be a good mother, she had been raised by her adopted mothers sure, but she had been pretty independent by that point. Could she raise a foal, even with help? She just wished that she had somepony she could ask. Maybe if Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy was in town, she could get their advice. She took a moment to think before getting to her hooves and heading out the door. After a quick trip, she was on a train heading for Ponyville. 00000 Scootaloo got off the train in Ponyville with a sigh, she hadn't been back home in awhile, she just hoped that her mothers weren't out of town. She stopped by Sugarcube Corner where Pinkie was working. "Hey Scootaloo, are you here to see Rainbow Dash?" Pinkie asked. "Yeah, do you know where she is?" Scootaloo asked as the Pink Pony gave her a smile. "Lets see, today's Tuesday, I think she's helping the Weather Team today," Pinkie replied. "You know how busy she's been lately with the Wonderbolts." Scootaloo nodded, Rainbow was rising in the ranks of the Wonderbolts, there was even talk that she might be made Captain when Spitfire retired. "Yeah, she should be working today, but I'm sure she'll make time for you," Pinkie said with a smile. "Thanks Pinkie," Scootaloo said with a nod. "Oh, and congratulations on your foal," Pinkie said as Scootaloo headed back outside. The Pegasus sighed a little at that, right now she just wanted to talk to Rainbow Dash. 00000 Scootaloo walked up towards where Rainbow Dash was working, getting clouds into position for a rain storm tonight along with another Pegasus. The Cyan Pegasus noticed her and nodded to her companion before flying down to greet her adopted daughter. "Hey Squirt what brings you back to town?" She asked, coming in for a landing. "I, wanted to talk to you about something..." Scootaloo said nervously. "You know, about my pregnancy..." Rainbow turned serious for a moment. "Your fiance didn't run out on you, did he?" "No, no, nothing like that," Scootaloo said quickly. "He's wonderful, its just... I'm not sure I'm ready to be a mother." "Scoots, you're going to make a great mom," Rainbow said as she wrapped a wing around Scootaloo. "I have a lot of faith in you, so does Fluttershy. We love you and we know that you're going to make a great mother." "Yeah, but... I mean, you were so confident when you adopted me," Scootaloo said. "You didn't hesitate at all, you didn't have any doubts." Rainbow couldn't help but chuckle at that as she shook her head. "Celestia no, I had a lot of doubts. I was a single mare who lost her mother at a young age, I had no idea how to raise a filly." Scootaloo looked in shock, she had no idea that Rainbow had felt like that. Rainbow always seemed so confident and sure of herself, she had these feelings too before adopting Scootaloo? "What changed your mind?" Scootaloo asked. "A friend gave me some advice," Rainbow said with a nod. "She told me that the doubts I was feeling are natural for parents. Nopony knows automatically how to raise a foal, you have to believe in yourself and you'll be a great parent. When I made the decision to adopt you, I knew that I had made the right choice, you're the best daughter a Pony could ask for." Scootaloo smiled, she was starting to feel a lot better. "Thanks mom," she said with a smile. "Don't worry about it Squirt, you're going to be a great mom," Rainbow said. "I've got a lot of faith in you, we all do. And if you ever need help, you know me and Fluttershy are here for you." "Thanks," Scootaloo said. "So how long do you have off work?" Rainbow asked. "A few days," Scootaloo said. "Well, that's great, everypony will be so happy to see you," Rainbow said with a smile. "Hey, I've got to get back to work, how about you go see your friends? I'll bet they'd be thrilled to see you again. I think they're both at Hay Burger right now." "Okay," Scootaloo said with a nod, she hadn't told Apple Bloom or Sweetie Belle yet, maybe this was her chance. Rainbow flew back up to the cloud and Scootaloo went off towards Hay Burger. 00000 Scootaloo nervously trotted inside, looking around for her friends. She sighed as she spotted them at a table, for a moment she hesitated, considering going back outside when Apple Bloom spotted her. "Scootaloo, Ah can't believe it, why didn't yah say yah were comin' back into town?" Apple Bloom called out as Scootaloo came up to the table. "It, was kind of a spur of the moment thing," Scootaloo admitted as Sweetie Belle levitated an empty chair over to the table for her and she took a seat. "Its good to see you two again." "Likewise," Sweetie Belle said with a smile. "So what brings you back home? The Big City get too boring?" "I, wanted to talk to mom," Scootaloo said. "There's, something I should tell you both." The two mares looked at their friend curiously, they had always shared everything between the three of them. "Is everythin' okay, Scootaloo?" Apple Bloom asked. "Yah ain't dyin' are yah?" "No, no, its nothing like that," Scootaloo said nervously. "No, its the opposite really... I'm pregnant." She paused, she had kept the fact that she was an orphan from them before, so she wasn't sure how they'd react. "Scootaloo, that's great!" Sweetie Belle said excitedly. "How far along are you?" "Who's tha father?" Apple Bloom asked. "Almost three months," Scootaloo said. "And Sky Walker, that stallion I met back at our graduation party. We're going to be married in a few months, and I wanted you both to be there." "Of course we'll be there," Sweetie Belle said. "But I can't believe you're pregnant, that's crazy!" "Heh, tell me about it, I didn't expect it either," Scootaloo said sheepishly. The three friends talked for awhile, getting caught up on each other's lives. Sweetie Belle was getting her singing career started while Apple Bloom was helping out at the farm still, they were still helping Ponies with their cutie marks of course. Scootaloo left feeling a lot better, they promised to meet back up the next day as she headed home. 00000 "Hey Scootaloo," Fluttershy said softly as Scootaloo entered the cloud mansion. "Rainbow told me you were visiting, are you doing okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine," Scootaloo said. "I'm feeling much better now really." Fluttershy gave her a soft smile. "That's good, will you be staying for dinner?" "Sure, as long as mom isn't cooking," Scootaloo said with a weak chuckle. "Don't worry, I'm cooking tonight," Fluttershy said with a smile and a nod. "Why don't you go get ready? Dinner will be done soon." "Okay," Scootaloo said and headed up the stairs as Rainbow Dash came into the room. "Hey Flutters, did Scootaloo come through here?" Rainbow asked. "Yeah, she seemed to be doing a lot better," Fluttershy said. "What did you say to her?" "Oh, just something a friend told me once," Rainbow said, giving her wife a wink. "A very special friend." Fluttershy just smiled and went to make dinner after giving Rainbow a kiss on the cheek..
