//------------------------------// // Sorry // Story: The Worst // by SquiggelSquirrel //------------------------------// Sunset stood, arms crossed, listening to the girls' explanation. When they had finished, she sighed, and turned to Sonata, who was standing by the wall opposite, next to Aria. “Okay, first of all, Sonata,” she said, “whether or not you meant to, it's clear you made Twilight uncomfortable, and I think you should apologise.” Sonata blinked, then shrugged and waved a hand sheepishly at Twilight, who was sitting on the couch to Sunset's left, next to Fluttershy, who in turn was sat next to Adagio. “Ss-so-oo-or-ry-yy,” she intoned. Twilight flushed. “I-it's fine. I don't want to make a big deal of it.” “Fine,” continued Sunset, turning to Rainbow Dash next, “Rainbow Dash, I know you were upset, but you can't go around threatening to slap people. You should apologise to Sonata.” Rainbow gave Sunset a betrayed look, before turning to face Sonata. “Uh, yeah. Sorry.” “Oh,” Sonata grinned salaciously, leaning towards Rainbow, “it's fiiine.” Aria raised an arm in front of Sonata, creating a barrier between the two. “I also think you should apologise to Aria,” continued Sunset. When Rainbow gave a hurt whine, Sunset continued, “and Aria, you should apologise to Rainbow Dash.” Aria folded her arms, and glared at Sunset. Rainbow jabbed a finger in Aria's direction. “She hit me first!” “I don't care who started it; You should both know better. So, which of you is going to show how mature you are, by apologising first?” Aria and Rainbow glared at each other. Eventually, Rainbow shrugged, and rolled her eyes. “Okay, okay, sorry for kicking your butt. Can I go now?” “Rainbow!” “Fine, sorry, geez!” Sunset sighed, and looked to Aria. “What?” the purple girl exclaimed, “You can't be serious?” Aria looked around the room, looking to Adagio in particular. Adagio shrugged, and swept an upturned hand outward in a “whatever” gesture. Finding herself the focus of every gaze in the room, Aria wilted. “Fine, I'm sorry. Happy now?” “Sure!” exclaimed Rainbow, waving as she left the room, headed for the kitchen. Sunset rubbed her temple and forehead. “When did I become a mother?” Adagio chuckled. “I know that feeling.” Fluttershy nudged Adagio, who suddenly started to look sheepish. “What,” Adagio murmured, “right now?” Fluttershy nodded. Adagio stood. “Fine. A-Aria! Sonata!” Adagio snapped, causing both girls to stand to attention. After everything that happened, Sunset couldn't help but raise her eyebrows at the way the two of them responded to Adagio's commanding tone. Adagio's tone, however, was less commanding when she continued. “I… I'm… ggr… I'm sorry, okay?” Aria and Sonata stood in stunned silence, mouths open. The minutes ticked by, and Adagio's cheeks began to burn. Sonata's eyebrows we knitting together, as panic slowly filled her face; Sunset thought the blue girl might be about to cry. Slowly, Aria's head turned, her gaze shifting to Fluttershy, who immediately began looking down at her hands. “Whu— ” Aria breathed “— what did you do to her?” “Nothing!” Adagio exclaimed, hurriedly, “I didn't do anything to her!” Fluttershy said nothing, but brought her knees up, as her face started to turn pink. “Holy Carp!” exclaimed Aria, a bemused grin spreading across her face “you're screwing her!” “No!” exclaimed Adagio, “It was just a misunderstanding!” “Misunderstanding!?” echoed Applejack and Rarity. “Carp?” muttered Twilight. “Don't worry,” smirked Aria, “I'm not one to judge. Just didn't think she was your type, is all.” “That — it — I — Anyway,” Adagio stuttered, “the point is…” she hesitated, remembering what the original point actually was, “I'm… sorry. I… I shouldn't have said those things. You two are…” she looked back and forth between the two of them “… really weird, and I don't understand you at all, and it's totally creepy, but…” she sighed “I shouldn't have said that we aren't sisters. I went too far. “I guess… if it's what you both want… just… try not to be so… icky, around me, okay? But I… I don't want us to be… 'not sisters'.” Aria's grin soured to a sullen glare, but Sonata grinned widely and lept forward, throwing her arms around Adagio with an excited squeal. “A-da-gi-o! I don't want us to be not-sisters either!” Adagio froze, hands hovering and lip curing, as Sonata dove face-first into her breasts. Seeing this, Aria chuckled, and shrugged. “Ah well,” Aria sighed, “then I guess I don't have a choice. Fine, we're sisters again.” “G-great!” replied Adagio, “so, uh, could you maybe get your girlfriend off'f me?” Adagio was starting to feel decidedly uncomfortable with the way Sonata was nuzzling her. “Sorry,” replied Aria, far too amused to fear Adagio's wrath, “you're the leader.” With that, Aria slumped down on the couch to Sunset's left, next to Applejack and Pinkie Pie. It took Adagio several minutes to extricate herself from the younger girl's embrace. Eventually, she gestured for Sunset Shimmer to help her. When Sonata had finally been dissuaded, she flopped down half on the arm of the nearby couch, half on Aria's lap. Aria slipped an arm around her waist. “Great,” monotoned Adagio, “well, if we're done here…” Sunset Shimmer cleared her throat. Adagio returned to her seat, next to Fluttershy, and Sunset took center stage. “Uh, actually, I have a couple of questions for you, and maybe a proposal.” “Hope you bought her a ring!” heckled Aria. Ignoring her, Sunset continued: “I've been in contact with Princess Twilight, back in Equestria, and, well… “You girls want to go 'home', right?”
