//------------------------------// // Chapter 2: The Reawakening // Story: The Crystal Song // by CosmicDreamerWrites //------------------------------// East of the Crystal Empire, out in the cold blistering snowy tundra, lay the shattered remains of the once great Shadow King. The pieces scattered across the desolate wasteland. The armor was now frozen and full of cracks and ready to break in to millions of pieces at the slightest touch. Every fragment was buried under the white powdery snow. All except one piece. The horn. The dark curved horn was sitting atop the snow with its bright red hue, making it stand out from the among the pure ivory snow, like a unicorn in a crowd of pegasus. The ground underneath it was oddly undisturbed. There was now crack down the front side of the horn, making it more menacing from before. Suddenly, there was dark storm clouds moving overhead from the south. Soon the sun was completely blocked out. Icy wind blew hard and snow began to fall more like thick curtains. Then it became dark, much darker, and all became silent. The wind dared not to make a sound as if it was afraid. The only thing that was heard was the crunching of the fresh snow. Only there wasn’t a pony around to make such a sound. No one was there. The only thing that proved something was there was the hoofprints made in the snow. And whatever it was knew EXACTLY where it was going. What ever it was, was moving straight to scattered remains of the Shadow Tyrant. As it was mere inches from the horn, the hoofprints stopped. The winds screamed in fear as the clouds began take shape of tall unicorn. Most of the features were blurred out, distorted, except the eyes. The small emotionless eyes looked down at the curved horn and nothing else. Then a deep voice rang out. The grew silent, afraid of the creature. "Awaken! Awake my son. For your reign has not ended." As it spoke, purple magic came from its eyes and the horn began to tremble. "Since your horn is still intact, you can regenerate and live once more! And I know from your last endeavor, your magic is weak. I will be gracious enough to lend you some of mine. But know thing! If you fail to take back my kingdom, I will strip you of your power and YOU WILL PERISH!" The shadow being's eyes and horn glowed a dark orange color and released a beam of magic onto the horn below it. The red horn began to shake rapidly and the flew up into the air a few feet off the ground. It glowed red and the surrounding clouds moved down from the sky and began to take form of a stallion. First, the dark grey body took shape, then the black flowy mane and tail formed. His face became more visible as the clouds cleared. His eyes were closed and he wore no armor nor did he wear his crown, which made him look years younger than he actually was. He looked like a normal unicorn except for the curved horn atop his forehead. The newly regenerated Sombra descended to the snowy earth. He shook is head as he woke from his slumber and opened his eyes, they were a beautiful emerald green. "What..What is going on-" "SILENCE!! " Sombra, jumps a little startled by the voice. He looks around for the source. He sees a the creature of shadow facing him. "Who.. Are you? Speak!" He glares at him. "Why have you awoken me from death!" The creature, "That will be answered in due time. Now.. You have been reborn once more to take back our stolen kingdom. Here" The shadowy unicorn creates an amulet out of thin air and hands it to him. "Take this amulet. It will grant you with immense power. It has a piece of me in it. Use it and take back what is mine! Now go my son!" The shadow disappeared as the blew past Sombra and the storm ceased to be as it never even happened. Sombra looked at the amulet in his hooves, wondering what was going on. He shook his head and grimaced remembering all that happened months ago "My kingdom.. Taken once again… by a mere child." He levitated the necklace over his head and put in on his neck. Sombras eyes widen as the amulet bore into his skin, latching itself onto him, permanently. He fell onto one knee and yelled in pain. Hid eye wide and staring into the distance as purple magic spewed from them. A strong gale blew around him as he felt the power of amulet flow through him, healing his wound and broken horn. He chuckles as he closed his eyes. Sombra stood up, rejuvenated, and laughs. The longer he laughed the maniacal it became. His eyes flew open and they were now red instead of the emerald green they once were. He smiles. "Long live the King…"
