Second Blood

by Lunarpony

Dawn before Dusk

Lunar looks at Twilight and then to the landscape that was speeding by. These were dark times indeed and Lunar was questioning what was going to happen, not only to him but to everypony around him. He knew that Twilight and her friends were all targets of Chrysalis. That's not including himself Chrysalis would do nearly anything to get him back or have him silenced. After all he knew secrets about the Changelings that the other did not.

"Lunar?" Twilight's voice broke through his thoughts as she spoke to him. Shaking his head, he looks at Twilight. "Are you okay? You were looking awfully spaced out there for a minute."

"I am fine." Lunar replies, "I was just thinking about things."

"Oh...is it about your past?" Twilight asks.

"How'd you guess?" Lunar asks.

"Well...Celestia told me that you have trouble coping with things that happened to you a long time ago... do you want to talk about it at all?" Twilight replies.

"No." Lunar denies "I am fine... Unless we can take care of Chrysalis for good...my past will always haunt me."

"It's a good thing to have you with us Lunar, you have been a big help so far." Twilight smiles. "We're not that different you and I."

"What are you talking about?" Lunar scoffs. "You're the Princess of Friendship and star pupil of Princess Celestia. I am a humble researcher who can't come to terms with his own past...we're almost like night and day..."

"Well you are very skilled in magic." Twilight compliments, "I could never have made a spell that could give someone the wings of a Pegasus."

"If you put the time in you could...trust me." Lunar smiles with a small giggle. However even this did not cheer him up.

"You know my friends and I worry about you Lunar. Ever since you helped us with Applejack and we got to know you more we are glad to have you around. All of us." Twilight adds.

"Do you really mean that?" Lunar asks looking at Twilight with open and heartwarming eyes. Twilight smiles and looks back.

"Of course, and besides it's great to have another scholar around who I can discuss things with that my other friends don't understand." Twilight confirms. "Besides you saved Spike, I couldn't ask of anything more from anypony..."

"It was no big deal Twi." Lunar states as the train stops for Ponyville. The two stand up and walk off.

"It is though." Twilight insists "Spike is my oldest friend and my great assistant I don't know what I would do without him."

"True." Lunar smiles "Not to mention that crush on Rarity that he has is pretty funny to see unfold here and there."

"Yeah, and though she won't say it I can tell she loves Spike's help more than she leads him to believe." Twilight chuckles.

"Can't say I am surprised." Lunar rolls his eyes. The two didn't say anything else as they reached the Palace of Friendship.

"Lunar..." Twilight says looking at the unicorn.

"What is it?" her asks.

"I want to ask a favor of you..." she starts "I am in need of an extra pair of hoofs around the castle...would you be willing to help me out?"

"If you need help I am more than willing to help out Twi." Lunar agrees. "But why so nervous? It's not like you're asking me to move in, go out to dinner or something that would be nerve racking."

"I am just...still shaken up about my parents..." Twilight sighs.

"Oh." Lunar nods, he knew how she felt...all too well as a matter of fact. "I understand..." he says putting a hoof on her shoulder for comfort. "I need to be getting home now. Twilight, you know that I worry about you just as much as your friends right?"

"I do." She smiles, "Thank you Lunar."

Lunar turns around and walks to his own home as Twilight retreats into the Palace of Friendship for the night. Twilight gets in bed and slowly drifts to sleep. Lunar on the other hand returns to his home to see Dawn at the door. "Dawn?" he asks confused "What are you doing here so late?"

"I need your help Lunar." she begs. "Please."

"Depends on what it is." Lunar sighs. "I am tired and I am not up to doing much right now." he yawns.

"I understand." Dawn says as she pulls a broken necklace out of her bag. "I kind of broke this..." she admits "How much to fix it?"

"It would be 30 bits for a repair after hours but I am in a good mood so I'll just do it for free this time." Lunar answers taking the necklace in his hoof and examining it. He grunts in approval before he begins to cast his spell. The necklace glows and the shards and broken pieces begin to fit back into place. Then with a bright glow the necklace was fixed as if it had just been made. "There you go Dawn." Lunar yawns "All done..."

"Thank you Lunar!" Dawn cheers as she takes it back. Before darting home, she gives Lunar a quick kiss on the cheek. The kiss caught him off guard and he glared at her as she darted off confused, embarrassed and unsure as to what had just happened.

"forget it..." he sighs after a while of standing and thinking. He opens his shops door and enters. After the door closes he uses some magic to lock it before going into the back area behind the counter and walking up the staircase that lead to the house portion of the building. After putting his bag on a hanger Lunar crawls into bed and sighed. It had been long and eventful day and he was out of energy. He lay in his bed silently as the relaxing and calm grasps of sleep slowly take hold of him until he was completely asleep.

The next day greeted Ponyville with a warm sun and the sounds of birds chirping. The sun peaks into Lunar's bedroom early and the light of the sun wake him up. Lunar sits up in his bed and stretches he felt completely rejuvenated now. His energy was back and he was ready for another day though while in tip top shape his mind was still dwelling on Chrysalis and the Changelings.

On Sweet Apple Acres Applejack was finishing another row of apple trees that were in need of a bucking. She wipes her forehead and looks into the rising sun with a sigh of exhaustion. "Well sure is lookin' to be a pretty darn good day." she announces to Big Mac who was just a couple of feet from her.

"Eeyup." he answers in his simple yet common phrase.

At Rarity's Boutique the elegant pony whom the store is named after was still asleep when the sun rose up. Soon however she was woken up by Sweetie Bell begging Rarity to help with something or another. A dissatisfied groan escapes her mouth as she gets out of bed with a yawn and looks out the window. "Why isn't the sunrise simply divine this morning." She smiles

Fluttershy was waking her animal friends up one by one during this time. "Good morning Angel." She says waking up the mischievous bunny. After handing him a carrot she looks out the window to the rising sun where some birds just so happened to fly by. "What a morning Angel." she smiles.

Rainbow Dash wakes up to the sun beaming into her cloud home. Slowly she finally wakes up and yawns. Her mane was a mess from sleeping. She figured she would fix it after she takes some time to wake up. She gets cleaned up and walks out of her house so she could head on down to Ponyville but not before taking a minute to observe the sun rise and weather. "Today looks like a great day for flying!" she exclaims. "Maybe I can get Twilight to come fly with me. Or even better maybe Lunar can use his spell and join us!" she exclaims in excitement.

At the Palace of Friendship Twilight and Spike had been up before sun rise and were busy cleaning the library as the sun rises. The warm glow of the sun peeks into the windows casting a warm glow on the room. Twilight pauses and takes the sight in before returning to work.

"Beautiful morning isn't it Twi?" Spike asks.

"It is." Twilight agrees. All of the friends were getting their day off to a start on a good note. However, while it may be a beautiful day what lies ahead over the horizon for the seven is anything but...for today was a day that none of them would forget any time soon...
