//------------------------------// // Batmare Begins // Story: Batmare Meets Supermare // by Mister Phoenix //------------------------------// In the dark of the night the city of Manehattan stood. Lights from buildings with ponies still about, in the city that never sleeps. Three stallions two of which were guards inside of an abandoned office building. The two guards stood outside the office. With the door shut to their boss who was inside counting the counterfeited money he’d made during the week. The building creaked scaring the guard on the left known as Flame with the stallion on the right known as Double rolling his eyes. "Calm down, it’s just the rats" Double said, with another noise coming from the right. "What.... What if it is the Batmare?" Flame chattered his teeth. The boss, was wearing a brown looking coat had a big grin on his face as the dozens of bills on his desk were soon adding up to thousands of dollars. He heard the creaking as well. “Double, go look around the building for intruders!” Double walked away from the door, Flame just stood there watching where his brother went off to. When he rounded a corner a blood-curdling screech rattled everyone’s eardrums in a five mile radius. "Go deal with what or whoever made the idiot scream. Probably a mouse or something" The Boss said, A sigh fell from Flames’ lips as he went off to where the deathrattle occurred. His flashlight shined away the darkness. Shoo-wee Shoo-wee! Flame fumbled with his flashlight. Trying to push out the thoughts of what terror. “It’s not an ax murder or something I-I need to get ahold of mys-” his monologue was interrupted by the sound of a pegasus wings beating and the billowing of a cape. When he looked up he caught of a glimpse of a blue mare in a mask as he was immediately lifted up and hogtied to the ceiling. The Boss kept counting his money till another scream filled the building, the stallion wearing the yellow jacket looked around quickly, trying to see if anything or anypony was behind him. A large shadow blocked the moonlight and a black metal object obliterated the lamp on the desk. Police lights flashed. Two officers were in the abandoned building responding to a call they got just minutes earlier. A pony with glasses and a mustache walked up a staircase. “What I wouldn’t give to have this city safe for five minutes” With a hoof raised he motioned someone to follow and two recruits rushed behind him. “Bats, Bats, BAAAAAATS!” the two rookies shuddered at the yelling but, the lead pony scoffed and smirked. “They’ve done it again” “And that’s another attack from the masked pony known as the Batmare. Who’s been attacking the criminals of Manehattan, are we safe from this mad pony? When will it be into this Batmare starts attacking us, and the most important question. Can we trust Batmare?” Click. Rainbow Dash turned off the T.V with a small smirk on her lips on what the news reporter had said. She rubbed her tired eyes, moving away her bright rainbow mane. “Miss Dash. You should be resting after last night” A male voice said, making the pegasus look at him. “Heh, don’t worry about me. I did do some serious flank-kicking but it didn’t take everything out of me” looked over to the stallion. “Plus how many times do I need to say tell you. You don’t need to call me, Miss Dash. Neat Stables, Rainbow is just fine.” Rainbow rolled her eyes a bit to drive this point home. “Yes, of course Miss Rainbow. Remember you got a party tonight so it maybe best to rest up” Stables said, causing Rainbow to laugh “Why can’t it’d be just you and me eating some spaghetti like it used to be,” she slumped in her chair with a nostalgic grin spreading across her face. Only adding to the look of sleep deprivation. “This Party is a little different. Do you not remember your friend, Lightning Dust sending you an invitation to her boat?” Stables asked her. “Oh yeah. She was pretty nice. Not to mention competitive but, she just seemed a bit off ya know? Felt like she was watching me the whole time” “I’ll get your dress ready for tonight.” “Oh and Stables put my suit on standby.” Rainbow said, causing him to raise an eyebrow at this request but, he knew he couldn’t dissuade her paranoia after the incident. “As you wish” At about seven o'clock the next night Rainbow was in a dress and riding in a limo to the docks. "You're too use to wearing suits, Miss Dash" Neat said, while Rainbow kept moving in place. “So, how long do I have to be at this dump again?” She attempted to push down the poofiness of her dress while sitting in the backseat but, it wasn’t doing much “Three hours but, you're welcome to not go if you're not feeling up to it” Neat said, looking through the mirror. “No, I kind of want to get to know Lightning Dust better. I want to beat her at a race this time. It was a draw before." Rainbow said, her eyes difted to the side. “Race?” Neat question, with a raised eyebrow. “Yup, I was surprised too. She likes to fly and, er . . .” Rainbow started, stopping seeing Neat's look. “And she has a competitive spirit like yours Miss Dash?” “Yeah, totally was going to say that. Just lost my train of thought Neat” “Well have fun with her” the car stopped and Rainbow slid out. Nearly tripping over her dress when she walked over to the front window. “Don’t dust the cave tonight. You’ve been working too hard lately” She gave him a small smile. “If that’s what you want but, you're only letting the dust bunnies time to regroup. Farewell” he sped off and Dash was now alone on the docks. She looked to her left and saw the party boat. Classical music blaring with the idle chatter of suits and dresses replacing the cold silence of the seawater. “Don’t you move” a stallion said. Rainbow felt the cold metal of a standard issue police pistol. Her eyes darted to the left and her guess was correct. Light orange magic aura surrounding his weapon. Without moving she took a look at the stallion in question to make sure it was who she thought he was and there was no mistaking him. who one half of his face is burn showing the teeth, no eye lid and scars all across the stallion’s left side of his face. On the other was a normal yellow and orange coat, with half of his mane blue on the right and white on the left. The stallion used to be Flash Sentry, a honest, kind and loyal police officer, now after a run in with Manehattan’s Batmare half of his face burnt off causing him to go crazy and become Two-Face. Rainbow looked at Two-Face. Remembering the words of the good stallion he used to be “You die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” “Flash what did you do with Lightning!” Rainbow question, causing the two faced pony to laugh. “She’s having a swim at the bottom of the ocean” Two-Face said. Two-Face looked up to the dark cloud sky seeing it light up brightly with the light showing a bat. The stallion tightened his teeth, looking up in anger and Rainbow looked up at the sky and her eyes showed disappointment. “You better let me go, before The Batmare shows up” Rainbow said, with a smirk. “I warned them” Two-Face said, a coined rolled out of Two-face’s sleeve and into another magic aura. He held the coin to the eye that wasn’t so, malformed and sighed. The coin shook a bit before the aura dissipated. It flew up into the air and came crashing down with a resounding clink when it landed on the docks. “Tails, meaning you die” Two-Face said, pulling the trigger. The bullet flew towards the cyan mare, Rainbow closed her eyes and waited for the bullet to hit her. After a minute, she open her eye to see a strange looking pony wearing a blue suit with red boots and cape with the letter S in the middle. She had held her hoof in front of Rainbow’s face and somehow the bullet didn’t cripple the mare or have any Rainbow laying in a pool of her own blood. “Who the heck are you? Where’s Batmare?” Two-Face question the orange Earth pony. “Ah don’ know who this Batmare is, but she’ the less of ya problems” The mare said. The stallion who used to be Flash looked at her in confusion, he fired again, with the Earth pony letting out a small yawn. Two-Face down the gun and ran away from the bullet proof mare. The mare turn to look at a now angry Rainbow. “Umm… Ya welcome” The mare said, looking at Rainbow enraged look. “Just don’t come back here. Who are you anyway?” Rainbow asked the mare. “Ya can call me Supermare” she said, with a proud smile. Supermare looked at Rainbow’s enraged glare towards her. She didn’t know what to say to the pegasus this was the first time the Earth pony meet somepony who didn’t thank her or looked up to her like a god. It kind of refreshing to say the less, the flying Earth pony turn to look away for a second before finally knowing what to say just to see that the mare was gone. Rainbow looked around the corner to see her “hero” fly off at the speed of sound out of the city. The cyan pegasus looked at her watch, before clicking on it, a long black car drove to her point stopping in front of her, the top open. Rainbow vaulted over the in the car, to drive away from the dock her car soon started making a ringing sound. “Yes, Stables?” Rainbow answered ”Ah, Miss Rainbow there you are. I was beginning to get worried about you” Stables said through the video phone. “It was a trap from Two-Face” Rainbow explain, the car speeding by the building. ”Yes, I see why you wanted your suit ready Miss Rainbow. So did everything go alright?” Stables question making Rainbow sigh. “He got away, I’m heading home now. I got to look something up” she continued to drive. Trying to put her finger on who that mare was. ”Indeed Miss Rainbow, shall I get some tea ready for your arrival?” Stables asked “If you wish, I’ll be there soon. I just hope she hasn’t found it yet” Rainbow said Rainbow drove her long black car, driving it past a running waterfall entering a large underground cave. Five floors high, with a huge green T-Rex, A large playing card a joker, and a giant brown coin. The floor made of Titanium on the bottom floor that led to the ocean sat a black boat. Above it for miles, tools, costumes for different ponies. A plane above it all to led to the open skies of Manehattan. Bats, flew around the cave, blinded by the bright lights that full the once dark cave. The Bat-Mobile drove to the third level of the cave parking in the centre of the whole cave. Rainbow jumped out of her car, and she walked her way over to the main computer, Neat Stables stood by it with holding a silver tray with brown hoof, his once dark mane now pure white from old age. “Your tea, Miss Dash” Stables said, placing the cup next to the computer. “Thank you Stables. Somepony saved me” Rainbow said, typing the details in her computer. “Somepony like you, Miss?” Stables question, causing Rainbow to shake her head. “No, she had powers. Heat vision, flying, super speed, bullets don’t hurt her.” Rainbow said. The rainbow mane mare typed into the computer the details she knew all while the tracking device she place on Supermare’s cape follow where the powerful Earth pony flew off to. Earth Pony. Mare. Orange Coat. Blonde Mane. Freckles. Green-Eyed. Country Accent - (Might be from Ponyville, Fillydelphia or other small towns that are unknown.) Powers: Flight. Bullet Proof, Iron Coat? Super Strength (Possible.) Super Speed. Others that are so far unknown. Neat Stables looked at the computer with a smile on his lips growing more and more he read what Rainbow typed. The cyan mare drank her tea before turning to Stable, her eyes full with curiosity. “What’s got you smiling?” Rainbow asked, placing her cup down and smiling back. “Well you do, I remember it like yesterday. You said, when somepony better for the job comes you’ll step down and that day has come” Stables smile grew even bigger at the thought of not having to fret over Rainbow all night. Rainbow looked to her left and black and white picture sat of her two parents and her as a small filly. “Neat, she’s not the right pony. She has waaaaaay too much power to be a hero. I hate to dash your hopes but, I’m gonna keep an eye on her. To make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid” Stables chuckled at the pun. Was his adopted child still going to be in danger? Sure, but, puns are objectively the best type of humor in his book. “I’ll leave eventually but, with somepony like that I’d just be digging a bigger hole. I’m surprised she hasn’t been pronounced the second coming of Celestia considering those powers.” she snickered at the thought of the second coming being a country mare in spandex. “As soon as I figure out her weakness I’m going to keep miss flying southern stereotype under wraps. What it is? I’m not sure but, the world will be so much safer when I do” Rainbow Dash finished explaining right when Supermare stopped at Canterlot. “So you’re going to Canterlot tomorrow Miss Rainbow?” Stables joy diminished and he went back to the tone Rainbow usually heard. “That’s where she flew off to so, I gotta make give her some “thanks” If you catch my drift Neat” “So, we’re into mare’s now Miss Dash?” Rainbow turned red at his accusation. “No! Besides there’s no time for romance when you're a superhero” “Whatever you say” he walked off stifling his chortles.
