//------------------------------// // New Family // Story: Scootaloo's Life // by RuinQueenofOblivion //------------------------------// 15 Years Ago. Scootaloo trudged through the mud as the rain fell around her, Apple Bloom had to work on the farm and Sweetie Belle was grounded, so she didn't get to do any Crusading today. The rain was just great... it was like the whole world was out to get her today. It was 5 years to the day that her parents had died in that freak accident, she was trying to keep her life together, but at least her friends helped her, even if they didn't know the truth. She really didn't want to go back to the orphanage right now, but the rain wasn't exactly helping. That's when something unexpected happened, the world around her turned brighter, even though she could see the rain was still going on. She looked up to see a hole in the clouds above her, with a familiar face looking down at her. "Hey Squirt!" Rainbow Dash said excitedly as she dove down through the hole and stopped by Scootaloo. "What's got the most awesome filly in Ponyville out in the rain?" "Everypony's grounded or too busy to play," Scootaloo said sadly. "And its too muddy for me to ride my scooter." Rainbow Dash looked thoughtful for a moment then landed on the ground and knelt down. "Here, I know, climb on my back and I'll take you for a ride." Scootaloo hesitated a moment, she had grown close to Rainbow Dash over the past few years. Not only was she awesome, she was also one of the kindest ponies she had ever met, they had become close, sisters even. Scootaloo couldn't help but smile as she climbed onto the mare's back. "Lets go!" She said excitedly as she held on tight. Rainbow smiled and took off, flying up through the hole in the clouds. Scootaloo couldn't help but watch in awe as she saw the whole of Equestria before her, she wished that she could fly too, but as long as she had Rainbow Dash, she was happy. "How are things at the Orphanage?" Rainbow asked, she was the only Pony who knew the truth about Scootaloo. "The other foals aren't still teasing you are they?" "Some of them are..." Scootaloo said with a sigh. "But at least the Ponies in charge are nice, most of the time." "I see," Rainbow Dash said as she flew around a cloud formation. "Has anypony been interested in adopting you?" "Well, no," Scootaloo said sadly. "Some ponies have been coming to adopt foals, but no one's interested in me." Rainbow frowned at that, she had come to care a lot for Scootaloo. "Don't worry about it Squirt, you're an amazing Pony, they're crazy for not wanting to adopt you." "Thanks..." Scootaloo said sadly. "I, really miss my parents Rainbow." "I understand," Rainbow said with a frown as the clouds started to break up. "Looks like the storm is over, do you want a ride home?" "Sure, I guess," Scootaloo said with a shrug as Rainbow started her descent towards Ponyville. 00000 Scootaloo was surprised to find that Rainbow didn't take her to the Orphanage, but her Cloud Mansion outside of town. "Umm, what are we doing here?" She asked Rainbow. "There's something I needed to pick up here," Rainbow said cryptically as she landed on the cloud. "Come on inside, this won't be but a minute." "Okay," Scootaloo said as she followed Rainbow Dash into the mansion. It was dark inside, that was weird, why was it so dark? "SURPRISE!" The voices of several ponies yelled out as the lights turned on. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Applejack were all inside with a big banner that read "Happy adoption day, Scootaloo." "Umm, what?" Scootaloo asked, shocked at what was happening. "I thought you two couldn't play with me today." "We're mighty sorry fer lyin' ta yah," Apple Bloom said. "But Rainbow Dash wanted it ta be a surprise, and we had ta get everythin' ready." "Everything..." Scootaloo said, and turned to look at Rainbow, her eyes wide in shock. "Does this mean..." "That's right Scootaloo," Rainbow said with a smile as she took out a set of papers and showed them to her. "They just came through today, I'm sorry it took so long..." Scootaloo looked in awe when she realized what she was looking at, they were her adoption papers. Rainbow Dash, her mentor, friend, and the most amazing Pony in the whole world, had chosen to adopt her. "Come on Scootaloo, say something already," Twilight said. "T-thank you!" Scootaloo said and buried herself in Rainbow's mane. "Mom..." Rainbow couldn't help but smile as she wrapped her foreleg around her newly adopted daughter. "Now, lets get this party started!" Pinkie Pie said happily, and the party really picked up there. 00000 Scootaloo was the happiest she had been in years, she had a family again, and she was happy that it was Rainbow Dash that was her new mom. The party finally wound down, Sweetie Belle and Rarity were the last two to leave. "I'm so happy for you, Scootaloo," Sweetie Belle said. "But you know, you could've told us about your parents." "Yeah... I'm sorry..." Scootaloo said. "I, didn't know how you'd react." "Hey, Apple Bloom lost her parents too," Sweetie Belle pointed out. "Don't worry about it, we're always here for you." "Thanks," Scootaloo said with a smile, she could always trust her friends to be there for her. "And thanks for helping set all this up." "You're welcome," Sweetie Belle said. "Come Sweetie Belle, you need to get to bed," Rarity said. "Scootaloo needs to get settled in." "Okay sis," Sweetie Belle said and walked off to go home. Scootaloo helped Rainbow get cleaned up, and soon enough she was in her brand new bedroom. It was like her old one in the Orphanage, with the same posters of the Wonderbolts and Daring Do lining the walls. "What do you think?" Rainbow asked. "Its perfect," Scootaloo said with a smile as she jumped up onto her cloud bed. "Is it going to be okay since I can't fly?" "Don't worry about it, we're going to move the mansion closer to the ground, at least until we can get those wings of yours working," Rainbow said. "I promise, we'll work on it as often as we can so you can fly." Scootaloo couldn't help but smile at that. Rainbow gave her a hug, and the two Pegasi sighed contently. They were going to make this work, Scootaloo just knew it.
