//------------------------------// // 4: First Day: Part 1 // Story: A Midnight Eclipse // by SolarEclipse912 //------------------------------// January 17th, Wednesday: 7:15 A.M. Luna's Residence "Mom, do I really have to go to school today?" Eclipse asked as he walked towards the kitchen wearing a black T-shirt and some black and red sweat pants. Luna saw him and answered, "Yes, you are going to school today. This is your first day at Canterlot High, and I don't want my own son being late. Since your car is at the repair shop, I'll drive you there." Dammit! I can't let him find me again! "B-but...what if he finds me again?" Eclipse asks, causing Luna to pause in her actions. "Mom, please. I can't let him see me here." Luna looks at her son with a glare, "Eclipse, I promise you, he won't find you. Even if he does, he'll get in a lot of trouble." Even then, he still looked worried, "That's just what he wants, Mom. He wants to show how weak I am in front of you." Luna sighed as she made her a plate of eggs and bacon, "Solar Eclipse, look at me." He stopped worrying and looked at his mother, "I know you're scared of him, and I understand you don't want him to find you, but you can't hide from him forever. You need to face your fears, and show him you're not the weak child you were back when you were kids. Now, show him how much stronger you've become, OK?" He shakily nodded his head, "O-OK Mom. I'll try." She smiled warmly and handed him his plate, "Thank you, now let's get some breakfast. Shall we?" Eclipse chuckled as he got him some food, and sat down at the table to eat with his mother and sister. Maybe it won't be so bad. I hope I'm just overthinking things. After a few minutes of eating in silence, Eclipse went to his room and put on his favorite red shirt, put on his black leather jacket, put on his dark blue jeans, his black and red tennis shoes, and went back downstairs. "Alright, let's get my first day over with." Luna smiled as she grabbed her keys, "Don't forget your flute, Eclipse. I'd hate to see you go to school without it." "Oh! Thanks for reminding me." He quickly went to his room and grabbed his flute case and runs back downstairs. Good thing Mom reminded me to get it. Even if I don't have a music class this semester, I might get it at some point during the future. "I got it, Mom." "Good, now let's get going." She calls out as she opens the door and walks to her car. 7:15 A.M. Sky Residence What should I wear? Should I go with turquoise or pink? Midnight thought as she held up two outfits that she picked from her closet. One was a white T-shirt with a light turquoise jacket with a picture of a small yellow sun with clouds partially covering it, with a matching turquoise skirt, while the other was a similar outfit, but with pink instead. She turned to her mother, "Hey Mom? Which one do you think looks better? Turquoise or pink?" Morning giggled to herself, "I think the turquoise would look better on you. Besides, I have a pair of high heels that would look great with it too." Midnight looked a little uncertain, "I don't know Mom. I don't really like high heels. They can be bad for your feet, and they're a pain to run in." Her mother giggled softly, "Yeah. They can be difficult for running, but I'm sure they'll look great on you." She said as she walked towards her room and got a pair of turquoise high heels. "At least try them on, OK?" Midnight sighed, "Alright, I'll try them on, just let me put my clothes on." Morning nodded as she walked out her room and shut the door, so Midnight could put her clothes on. Once she finished, she slipped the high heels on and walked around a little, stopping in front of her mirror. Hmm, Mom was right: they do look good with this outfit, and they don't feel half bad either. She thought to herself as she grabbed her little leather purse and opened the door. "You were right Mom. These do look good on me. Thanks." Morning smiled. "You're welcome, dear. Please, keep them. I can almost never find something to wear that looks good with them. Now go on and get to school." She giggled, "I will Mom. I love you." She said as she walked out the door and started walking towards school, until she sees Luna, Cynder, and Eclipse and waves at them. They see Midnight waving at them and wave back as Luna calls out, "Do you need a ride to school?" "Yes, please. If that's alright with you!" Midnight called out as she walked towards them. Cynder smiled, "We don't mind, do we?" Luna giggled, "We don't mind at all. As the vice principal, I like to see that my students get to school safely." Midnight gasped, "You're the vice principal? I'm so sorry, I had no idea." Eclipse smirked, "You must be new here." She blushed slightly, "W-well...I just moved here a few days ago, and today's my first day of school. M-my name's Midnight Sky, by the way." Luna smiled warmly, "Well don't you worry Midnight, I'm sure you'll love it here. My name's Luna, and these are my kids: Cynder and Solar Eclipse." She says as she points to them. Cynder offers a handshake, "It's nice to meet you. Let me to be the first to welcome you to Canterlot High." She accepts the handshake with a smile, "Thank you. It's nice to meet you too." Eclipse looked towards the school, "Most people just call me Eclipse." Luna chuckles and whispers to Midnight, "Please ignore Eclipse. He may not like to admit it, but he gets shy around new people." Midnight giggles hearing this. "Come on, let's get to school." She says as she opens the door and gets in her car, letting everyone else get in before she starts driving towards the school. After about 12 minutes, they come to the teacher parking area of the school. "Well, here we are: Canterlot High." Midnight stood in wonder as she looked up at the school. Wow, this place looks huge compared to the one in Fillydelphia. "Wow, this school looks amazing." Eclipse chuckled, "It is a rather nice looking school. I always did prefer this over Crystal Prep Academy. That school might have loads more money, but Canterlot High makes you feel welcome, almost like home: something Crystal Prep never had." As they exited the car, they walked through the front doors, and made their way inside. Cynder went to the cafeteria to join her friends, while the others went to the principal's office. As they entered the room, they saw Principal Celestia, talking to a rather short man with a black chef's uniform. "Thank you Mise. I'm glad you could help us with getting more food for the cafeteria." Mise spoke with a slight Irish accent, "It's no problem, Principal Celestia. I'm more than happy to help." Normally, I would make a leprechaun joke, but he seems like a nice guy, so I won't be mean to him. "Ah, Mise. I'm glad your here." Luna spoke up. "I'd like you to meet two new students, Solar Eclipse and Midnight Sky." Mise turned to the new students and offered a handshake, "Hello there. My name's Mise en Place. It's nice to meet you." Midnight was the first to take the handshake, "Thank you. It's very nice to meet you too." Eclipse was next, "Nice to meet you too. If only Crystal Prep had more people like you, then it wouldn't be so gloomy." Mise chuckled, "Tell me about it. Everyone there's so stuck up and arrogant, just like Blueblood here." Wait, Blueblood? That's my cousin! He thought as he chuckled, "Yeah, he can be a bit of a stick in the mud." "So you know him? Damn man, I feel sorry for you. Well, I'd better go. Octavia would kill me if I keep her waiting much longer. See you guys later." Mise said as he walked off. Huh, that guy knows Octavia Melody and appears to be close to her. He's a lucky man. Her and Vinyl Scratch are quite popular from what I hear. "Eclipse? Is that you?" Celestia said as she saw Eclipse and Midnight. "My, my, look how much you've grown. I thought you still went to Crystal Prep." "He got expelled after another student wrecked his car." Luna spoke with a hint of anger in her voice. Celestia gasped, "Oh dear. I'm so sorry. We're glad that you decided to come here. Let me be the first to welcome you two to Canterlot High." Midnight blushed a little, "Thank you. I've been so nervous about coming here. I just moved here 3 days ago and already I'm starting my first day. I'm Midnight Sky, by the way. Sorry that I didn't introduce myself earlier." The principal giggled, "It's alright Midnight. I understand. Now, before I can give you your schedules, are there any classes that you would like to have, or ones you don't want?" Eclipse spoke first, "All I ask is to be as far away from the gym as possible. I don't want to run into him again." Celestia nodded, "I understand. Since Crystal Prep has a requirement of 3 gym classes a year, I'll let you skip gym class." "Wait, Crystal Prep requires 3 gym classes?" Midnight asked in confusion. Eclipse nodded, "Yes. Students at Crystal Prep are challenged to be as athletic and as intelligent as possible. All students are pushed to the physical and mental limits by taking college level courses and having at least 3 gym classes a year, along with participating in at least 1 sport season." Eclipse explained. Luna nodded, "Yes, I remember all those days when Eclipse would come home late at night and collapse on the couch because of all the work he had to do at the gym and sports practice." "What sports did you play, Eclipse?" Midnight asked. "I played soccer and hockey." Eclipse replied, "The only reason I took those two was because those were the only sports I had any liking to. I hate football, and the other sports were just stupid, but soccer is known around the world, and hockey can be fun to watch at times." Celestia types a few things on her keyboard, "Anything else, Eclipse?" "If you can, try and get me in a band class, especially if you have Orchestra." Celestia fowned a little and shook her head, "Sorry, Eclipse. I can't do that. The Orchestra's full right now. Perhaps you can try next year." He nods, "Very well. All I ask, is to be as far away from the gym as I can. I could care less about my classes." She nods as she put some information in the computer, "Very well. What about you, Midnight? Any classes that you specifically want?" Midnight shakes her head, "No thank you, Principal Celestia. Put me in the classes that I need." Luna looked a little uncertain, "Are you sure, Midnight? Surely you have an extra curricular activity you wish to participate in." Midnight shook her head again, "Not right now, Vice Principal Luna. I just want to get used to this school first before I do anything like that. Maybe after my first semester I'll decide on an elective class, OK?" Luna smiled and nodded, "Of course, Midnight. I understand. Now, let me send someone to give you a small tour. Normally, we have Sunset Shimmer and Soul Writer to give the tour, but they're both sick today, but I think I know some students who would be more than happy to give you a tour of our school." She said as she walked to the intercom and turned it on. "Mise en Place, Octavia Melody. Please report to the Principal's office." Within a few minutes, Mise returned and Octavia was right behind him. She had light grey skin, long black hair, and bright lavender eyes, and was wearing a purple waistcoat, pink skirt with a treble clef on the side, and a pink bow tie. She was the first to speak, and she spoke with an English accent, "Ah, you must be the new students Mise was telling me about. It's very nice to meet you." Midnight blushed a little as she started playing with her hair, "It's nice to meet you too, Octavia. My name's Midnight Sky." "And I'm Solar Eclipse, but most just call me Eclipse." He said with a slight bow. Mise chuckled, "No need for that, my friend. Come, let us each give you a tour. Octy, would you be a dear and go with Midnight while I go with Eclipse?" Octavia giggled and gave Mise a kiss on the cheek, "Of course. OK Midnight, come with me, please." She said as she walked with Midnight out of the principal's office. She tried to stay calm, but in her mind she was flipping out. OK Midnight, just stay calm. She's just the first girl you met here in Canterlot High, and she's very pretty. Just don't do anything stupid. Back with Mise and Eclipse, "Shall we get started?" Eclipse was looking a little uncertain, "I'm not sure. I've been here before, during the Friendship Games. I wasn't a participant, but I was observing the events with Mom, despite being in Crystal Prep." Mise shrugged, "Eh, at least you were with your mother. Still, that was a couple months ago, we should probably give you one, just in case." Eclipse nodded, "I suppose you're right. Lead the way." Mise nodded, and they both started the tour. Meanwhile, in a the hallway close to the principal's office, two figures stood, both with football jerseys. "It's Eclipse!! He's finally come back!" Spoke the figure to the left, the same one that Eclipse saw earlier at The Warp Zone. "Are you sure that's him?" Spoke the other figure. "He doesn't look as weak as you said he is." The figure scoffed, "He may have gotten stronger since we last met, but he's still weak compare to me!"
