//------------------------------// // asteroid // Story: Paradise Melody's Adventure to Pony Bound // by Killer Rose //------------------------------// In a town named Ponyville, there was a little filly named Paradise Melody, who was a 9 year old pink and white earth pony with twin pigtails. One night while she was sleeping, she heard a really loud boom outside. When Paradise got out of bed, she went downstairs to go and check out what had made the noise. But she was stopped by her mom. “Where do you think your going, little missy?" Paradise turned to see her mother staring at her with a look of annoyance. Paradise opened her mouth and said; “Going to see what made that loud sound outside. Everypony heard it! I wanna be the first one to find out what it was." Her mother rolled her eyes and sighed with frustration. "Okay fine, you can go, but freshen up first. And get out of those pajamas before you go! Take Riku with you, he's been itching for his walk," she instructed to Paradise, who sighed. She didn't have time for this! She wanted to go as soon as possible! Paradise rushed up the stairs to change clothes. Once she was done, Paradise came back downstairs with her school uniform of a shirt and skirt. The shirt was blue and black, with black stripes on the sleeves of her shirt. Her skirt looked the opposite, as it was all black with a blue stripe at the end. "Okay, I'm ready to go, mom! I'm going now!” Paradise called. She was just about to open the front door, but stopped when her mom spoke behind her. "Take Riku with you, sweetheart," the mare said kindly. Paradise pouted. She then grabbed her dog, Riku, by the collar and set out to find the noise that woken her up from her sleep. Man, I bet everyone is already there by now. Paradise was snapped out of her thoughts by Riku's barks. “Ruff! Ruff! Ruff! Ruff! Ruff!” Riku's barks were bothersome, so Paradise let him go. He ran ahead in the direction they was going. “Dammit, Riku, don't run off!” Paradise yelled, irked as hell. When Paradise finally caught up with her dog, she had grown tired. “Riku don't do that, boy! You could have gotten hurt.” She patted him on the head and scratched behind his ear with her right hoof. She froze when she realized where she was--the area where the boom noise had come from! Unfortunately, she didn't get to think more about it. Her ears swiveled at a strange kind of static noise. Paradise gasped at the sight in front of her. It was a huge asteroid! Paradise was just about to touch the asteroid when she heard hoof steps rushing up behind her. She didn't notice her hoof moving closer to the asteroid until it was to late. Paradise touched it, and felt a shock of electricity shoot through her entire body. Visions of Ponyville in ruins flashed across her mind, blowing winds and rotting trees. She was truly horrified at witnessing her hometown destroyed; everything she held dear was gone! The filly began to cry, tears streaming down her cheeks. She then blinked and found herself back where she was, touching the smoldering rock. That was when one of the ponies spoke up. "Freeze! Hooves up. I want to see your hooves up!” One of the guards demanded dangerously. He was holding a sword with his left hoof. Panicking, Paradise could do nothing, so she let the guards come closer. They grabbed her roughly, and pulled her away from the asteroid. Another guard came up to Paradise. “Hey little filly, what are you doing out here? I thought the guards and I told everypony to stay in their homes," he said to Paradise. “I guess we missed one,” a white maned guard said, chuckling with the other stallions. They stood quickly to attention when heard the captain clear his throat. “So, what do we have here? Hmm, a little filly," he mused. "What is she doing here? Wait... I recognize you! Your Maple Melody's daughter," said the old captain to Paradise. He seemed quite shocked to see the daughter of the best female captain around. Paradise flattened her ears. “Um," she stammered. "I was just seeing what the loud noise was. I came here check it out," she said, swallowing hard. She didn't want to tell them what she saw after touching the asteroid. They would think she was silly! She kept her mouth shut. The old captain walked up to her slowly. Paradise noticed he was a white Pegasus with a gray beard. “You were curious about the noise? I thought the guards told everypony to stay in their homes until we get everything straightened out,” the old captain groaned. He was really tired and didn't want to deal with this. "Guards, take her back to her mother, and make sure she stays home. Alright, got it?” The guards huddled up around Paradise and picked her up, starting to carry her home. “Come on, filly, let's get you home so you can go back to bed,” soothed the guard holding her. She didn't want to say anything, and instead she started to sob. He noticed this, and looked worriedly at her. “You okay, there? Don't cry, we're sorry if we we're being harsh. Just, don't worry. My name is Blue Comet, I'm a lieutenant. So your Paradise Melody, the daughter of the retired captain Maple Melody?" He was a blue and white unicorn with a spiky blue mane, and a cutie mark of a blue fire comet. Paradise just nodded. “Blue Comet, you're nice and honest, not like the other mean guards over there.” Paradise smiled at him. She was happy, but so very sleepy. It was hardly even a second before Paradise was asleep. She could already tell this was the start of an adventure.
