//------------------------------// // Waking Up // Story: Something Different // by MagentaFlare //------------------------------// Some pony was crying near her. The crying had awakened her, but she felt too weak to move. She was too weak to even open her eyes. She tried turning her head towards the crying, but even that was too much for her. “Please wake up.” The crying pony said. She didn’t know if he was talking to her or not, but she didn’t want to hear him crying anymore. After another minute she felt a strong enough to open her eyes a little. She saw the room she was in had blue walls. She wasn’t in her room anymore. Her body felt different. Did something happen to her? Was it the fault of the pony crying? “Don’t cry.” She said while gathering enough power to turn towards the crying pony. Just it wasn’t a pony who was crying. It was something else, something she had never seen before. “Diane?” It inquired while lifting its head to look at her. “Who is Diane?” She asked. She felt the weakness she awoke with quickly fading at this point. “My name is Pinkie Pie.” She smiled. “So who are you?” “No, your name is Diane and I’m your brother Daniel." He replied. She looked around the room and saw that she was in a hospital. She then looked over herself. She wasn’t a pony anymore. She was whatever this Daniel thing was only slightly different. She lifted her forelegs up to inspect the newfound appendages that once were her hooves. “Wow, what are these things?” She asked. She moved the different parts of her new forelegs around. They reminded her of something. Her dragon friend Spike had claws that were similar to these things. “They’re your hands,” Daniel answered. “I’m going to go get a doctor. I’ll be right back.” He stood up on his hind legs and walked away without use of his forelegs. She wondered if all the creatures like him walked on their hind legs instead of on all four. She spent her time waiting for him to come back flexing the parts of her hands. Her attention soon turned to the similar parts on her hind legs. The little parts on those didn’t have the flexibility or length of the hands. After a few minutes Daniel returned with another strange creature in a doctor’s outfit. This one held a clipboard with one hand and a pen in the other. She looked at her own hands and thought of how much easier it would be to hold things with them over using her mouth. “So how are you feeling?” The Doctor asked her. “A little weak, but other than that I’m fine.” She answered happily. She wasn't sure if she should ask about how she got there or if Daniel had anything to do with it. She thought it best to have the doctor ask the questions. “Do you remember your name?” The Doctor asked. “Well of course, it’s Pinkie Pie!” She answered with glee. “Do you remember where you were before waking up here?” The Doctor asked. She had to think for a moment. She remembered going to bed after a really big party, but she couldn’t remember what the party was for. She told the doctor what she knew. “I see.” He said. He looked down at the clipboard and then back at her. “So does the name Diane Locke have any meaning to you?” “Not at all, are they important?” She answered. She remembered Daniel saying Diane before, maybe she looked like whoever this Diane was. “She’s a girl who disappeared many years ago and we have reasons to believe that you are her.” The Doctor explained. “Now then, if you allow it, Daniel here will be taking you home with him while we wait for some test results to come back.” “Oki Doki Loki!” She replied. She wanted to see more of this strange place she had awakened in and just staying in a hospital bed wouldn't really help with that. “Okay then.” The Doctor said. He turned to Daniel. “You brought clothes for her.” “Yes.” Daniel quickly replied. The doctor left and she pushed herself sideways so her hind legs dangled off of the side of the hospital bed. Daniel went over to where he was sitting and pulled a bag of clothes out from under the chair. She looked at him and noticed he was wearing clothes, but as a pony she only wore clothes for certain occasions. It must be different with these creatures and now that she wasn’t a pony she thought it best to go along with whatever these creatures did. Daniel handed her the bag and walked out of the room again. She put the bag onto the bed next to her. It was easy getting the dress she had on off mainly with her hands, but she was afraid to stand like these creatures for she never had walked like them before. With her hands she got the shirt on, but the other pieces would be hard to get on without standing. “Are you decent?” Daniel asked from outside the room. “What is that supposed to mean?” She asked in return. “Are you dressed?” He asked. “Almost.” She answered as she tried getting the long clothes for her hind legs on by leaning back on the bed. “There, got it, but what are these purple things for?” She sat up again and pulled a pair of odd flat things with things sticking out of it out of the bag. Daniel came back in and sighed. “They’re shoes. We didn’t know how big your feet were so we bought those for you.” “Oh that makes sense.” She replied. She put them on and attempted to stand up like the creature she now was. It wasn’t that hard for her to stand on her hind legs. She felt a little wobbly at first, but after a minute she felt quite comfortable with this new way of standing. Daniel just watched her shifting herself as not to fall and just hoped he could know what happened to his sister already.
