Legend of the Sirens: A Fathers Return

Tracking

The drive back to Adagio's place took less time than expected. It helped that many of the citizens of Canterlot were staying at home due to the monster appearance. News spread fast over the last few days of two monsters moving northward and having intense battles along the way. In all that time Adagio had been working relentlessly tracking her father and the new kaiju. The two monsters swam up the coast to the northern part of the continent where they began to double back after a brief but intense confrontation that leveled an entire city.

During the battle many of the onlookers took video footage from their smart phones, many got images of both monsters fighting. The most impressive was Godzilla. His massive hulk figure and his predatory stance made him quite the sight to see. The other was a large worm like creature with a hard shell like body. Turns out the worm kaiju had grown immensely over the last few days, gaining a dark chitin  armored body. From the videos Adagio found on the internet it looked more like an armored caterpillar than anything with a smooth beak mouth.

One video in particular caught her attention. It was a battle between her father and subject-00, or Elechos as Adagio decided was an ample name, in an intense battle deep in Anchorage outside any major cities. Godzilla was biting Elechos mid body. Elechos struggled against the larger kaiju and managed to get him in the leg.

Godzilla struggled to keep his footing while holding Elechos, but he managed to stay upright somehow. Godzilla then began to slowly become slower and slower until he completely stopped his attack and left Elechos free to deliver the finishing blow. This was where Adagio got the name for the second kaiju. Then from out of nowhere a blue beam of energy hit Godzilla from the side of his head and sent him tumbling over Elechos, releasing him from his maw. The blue beam originated from far beyond the mountains and disappeared as quickly as it came.

Adagio studied the image from where the beam came from, but she couldn't make anything out. Yet something seemed oddly familiar to her about the beam. She decided to get back to that once she discovered what Elechos was. Adagio found little on the creature until she managed to hack into a semi-secured file under the MONARCH Project. According to the file, Elechos was a subspecies of a derivative of mind controlling insects that have existed for millions of years. However, the US Government and several other nations kept it a close guarded secret, even the details of the Angurius were deemed classified. She was furious that all this had eluded her in all the time she was here in the human world. Then again, she was a creature of myth here, so who was she to judge?

She read on in the file and discovered the species Elechos derived from were small parasitic creatures that attached themselves to the stomachs of larger kaiju, similar to a liver fluke worm. Unlike the fluke worm however, Elechos was transforming into something worse. Within the first two days it had grown to be on par with Godzilla in terms of sheer size. Now, it had more of a roach like body with legs matching a praying mantis with minimal flight capabilities.

It was truly a monster of monsters.

What made Adagio worry was how lucid it made her father during their earlier fights. Later fights showed Godzilla being more conservative when fighting Elechos, but he still made a few blunders from time to time. Yet despite all his misfortunes fate smiled on him frequently and he always ended with sending the other kaiju running and he’d continue the chase.

Adagio sighed closing her laptop after spending hours on it with no sleep. She walked over to her bed and flopped face first into it only to have something slap her across the face.

She screamed falling off the bed and landed face first on the floor. Covering her now bleeding nose with both hands, she looked up from her spot on the floor to see Rainbow Dash in her birthday suit from under the covers.

Adagio gasped averting her gaze as Rainbow looked around in a sleepy daze. “Huh, what’s going on?” She asked, then looked down seeing Adagio. “Hey, Dagi. What you doing on the floor?”

The siren growled loudly rubbing her temples. “Rainbow, can you explain why you’re in my bed not wearing anything?” She asked in a vexed manner.

Rainbow shrugged nonchalantly, getting off the bed and clothing herself while Adagio took her place on the bed. Without Rainbow there to obstruct her she face planted into the pillow and allowed herself to relax.

She felt tense. Tracking her father was surprisingly hard despite him being a massive hulking monster by human standards. The last few days had been a nightmare for her as she struggled to keep up with him and Elechos. Allowing herself some rest every now and then was good and being a siren sure made life easier, allowing her to stay awake for days on end, but she still needed to rest every now and then.

Shortly after she lay on the bed she felt Rainbow crawl up beside her and snuggled close against her. Rainbow ran her hand through the tons of hair and against Adagio’s back rubbing it in small circular motions earning a small relaxed sigh from Adagio.

“You really need to work less, Dagi.” Rainbow said softly into her lover's ear.

Adagio scoffed elbowing Rainbow in the gut. This made the young woman grunt and fall to the side of the bed holding her tummy with both hands.

“You suck…”

Adagio gave a hearty laugh. “You know you love me.”

Rainbow glared from her position on the bed, not bothering to get up. “Yeah, and I regret it everyday.”

“Ah! Rainbow! How could you say such things to poor old me!?” Again gasped in mock hurt, gripping her chest like a fragile damsel. “I thought you loved me? Oh, perhaps I should end it all now since you don’t love me!”

Rainbow rolled her eyes at Adagio’s over the top reaction. Rainbow slowly got up and crawled over Adagio forcing the siren to lay on the bed and laid on top of her.

“You should just be glad I’m awesome enough to still love you after that terrible performance.” Rainbow cooed at her lover, twirling Adagio’s golden hair between her fingers.

Adagio sighed leaning forward to kiss Rainbow. “Yeah, I’m soooo lucky to have a dodo like you to mindlessly follow me to the ends of the Earth.”

Adagio pulled Rainbow in for another kiss. The two slowly embraced one another locking their lips with no intention of letting go. While their lips remained locked, Rainbow slipped her hands up Adagio’s body and into her white coat slipping it off her shoulders and down her arms. Once completely off she discarded the coat to the side making Adagio release her lips.

“What are you doing? That’s my favorite coat!”

Rainbow glared down at Adagio who was looking rather abashed. “What?”

Rainbow scoffed in annoyance gesturing to the coat. “What, am I less important than that dumb lab coat?”

“What? No! Rainbow I love you, it’s just i thought you liked women in lab coats and-”

“Okay, let me hit the pause button there,” Rainbow interrupted Adagio, holding up her left hand in a stop position. “First off, where did you get that idea from? Second, why would I like a lab coat over my girlfreind?”

Adagio cringed under Rainbow's intense glare. It wasn't often the siren felt insecure about anything, but seeing her lover in such a angered state made her feel rather small. So, she thought back to when rainbow made the comment during the Friendship Games and how jealous it made her feel. She guessed now was the right time to tell Rainbow in her usual manner.

“I was just, you know, trying some new fashion?” She said not sounding convincing at all. Rainbow crossed her arms over her chest, tapping her fingers impatiently. “Ugh, fine. I was jealous of what you said about Twilight, from Crystal Prep.”

Rainbow gave Adagio a curious look tilting her head in contemplation. Clearly she had forgotten what she said, and to Adagio it was no surprise. “You said Twilight looked cute?”Adagio hinted to her. “About the lab coat?”

Then it clicked in Rainbow's mind the day it happened. She snapped her fingers in realization. “Oh yeah! I forgot about that!” She said in a more upbeat manner. Then she frowned at Adagio remembering something else. “I also remember a certain siren transforming and threatening to eat my friend if she ever and I quote, 'came near my Rainbow again.’”

Adagio felt her cheeks burn at the exact words she spoke over a year ago being relayed back to her so easily. She pulled the sheets from under her to cover her face slightly.

“I’m sorry Rainbow. I just… you  said it in such a way I felt threatened by her being around you,” Adagio admitted stiffly. “I was afraid she was going to take you away from me. So I sabotaged her school science project and framed you for i-”

Adagio stopped mid sentence when she realized what she had said openly. She was hoping that Rainbow didn’t catch on to what she said, but the look the rainbow haired woman gave her indicated otherwise. Rainbow was absolutely livid.

“That was YOU!?! Why would you do that?!” Rainbow screamed flailing her arms. “Do you know I punched Twilight in the face for that?!”

“Wait, I didn’t mean it!” Adagio cried out reaching for Rainbow’s cheek only to have her hand slapped away.

“Don’t touch me!”

Adagio felt her eyes tear up. She held her hand to her chest feeling like her heart was breaking from a tense pressure pushing against her chest. Rainbow Dash jumped off the bed holding her left arm and gave Adagio a disappointed look. Shaking her head she left the room and went to the living room leaving Adagio alone in her room.

The siren sighed pulling her legs close to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. She thought about what she said, and what she did back then. It seemed like a good idea at the time, now she wasn’t so sure. Plans like that only worked if you were content to lie about it forever. She felt guilty making Rainbow dislike Twilight for that. She needed to apologize, but for now she would let Rainbow vent. A cool head would always win the day.

Just as the thought came through her mind she heard a loud blast and Rainbow screaming in fright. Adagio heard a gunshot and felt her blood run cold. She ran out to the living room to see Rainbow on the ground with a large dart in her arm and two soldiers with guns up over her.

Adagio ran up to the two soldiers punching one in the side of his helmet knocking him away from Rainbow. “Get away from her you-”

THWACK!

The second soldier hit Adagio In the back of the head with the butt of his rifle knocking her to the floor, as the other soldier got up on his feet. He placed a hand over the left side of his helmet and spoke into loud voice, “We got her ma’am. There’s another civilian here, what should we do?”

“Roger. Orders are to take them both,” He said to the first soldier who pulled a large sack from his belt. “You take care of them I’ll get the intel.”

The first soldier nodded taking his foot up and kicked outward towards Adagio’s head knocking her out cold.
