After the heroes discovered the location of the Golden Queen, Cali realized, “Of course! She’s in the Golden Desert! Seems kind of obvious, now that I think of it.”
Krypt King understood this since she’s been hiding in a desert that’s a golden color. Krypt King spoke,
“Obvious or not, she would stop at nothing to get me. But this time, she won’t have to look far.”
Cali replied while she piloted the Dread-Yacht, “You are taking a dangerous risk, you know? When we get back to the Academy, we’ll plan our course of action from there.”
Krypt King shook his head, “You guys go back to the Academy. I’ll go to the Golden Desert and scout the area from the air.”
Cali set the ship on auto-pilot, “Are you serious? You would get captured for sure and she would pretty much have you!”
Krypt King replied, “I can’t risk losing you or the others.”
Cali knew that despite his determination to go to the Golden Desert, he can’t risk the lives of his friends. But because of her scouting instincts, she spoke,
“She will most likely be expecting an attack and that message you sent through the prism will most likely get to her expecting you to attack.” She soon added, “But you’re not scouting the desert on your own. You need a scouting expert like me to help.”
Krypt King was going to retaliate but he realized that she is right, “You do have more experience in scouting enemy territory. I will accept your assistance in this scouting mission.”
Cali replied, “I’m glad your instincts kicked in.”
The Trap Master activated his wrist communicator, “Krypt King to all units, Cali and I are going to the Golden Desert to scout the area and gather Intel on the defenses.”
Buzz soon spoke, “Nice use of the word ‘intel’ Krypt King. Maybe you and Cali will be Secret Ninja Commandos in no time!”
Flynn spoke, “I may not have ninja tomato skills, but I’m still the best pilot in Skylands.”
Mags spoke, “Um…keep that in mind that Echo Squadron is the best squadron of Ace Pilots in Skylands.”
Flynn asked in shock, “How does one become an Ace!?” There was laughing from Echo Squadron at Flynn’s comment on becoming an Ace. Soon enough, EQG Legendary Spyro ordered,
“Echo 1 to Dread-Yacht, Permission has been granted to break away and head for the Golden Desert.”
Cali replied, “Got it, Spy. We’re on our…” Soon enough, she looked at the fuel gauge and realized,
“Uh oh, low on fuel.” Buzz soon spoke, “Don’t worry, young lady. Flynn’s rust bucket is already in refueling mode. Check your ship and prepare for refueling.”
Flynn spoke, “My ship isn’t a rust bucket.”
Buzz laughed, “Just a joke, Flynn.”
Cali and Krypt King soon prepared the Dread-Yacht for refueling as a refueling nozzle extend towards the refueling port as Cali worked the controls on the ship until it was connected. She held the ship in position as she looked at the fuel gauge as it steadily climbed to maximum fuel. During the refueling process, Krypt King’s communicator was still on as he heard EQG Camo comment,
“Like waiting in line for the restroom, doesn’t it?”
Soon enough, Flynn spoke, “All set you two, disconnect.” The Dread-Yacht disconnected from the refueling hose as Krypt King spoke,
“Once you are able, meet us in the Golden Desert. Don’t keep us waiting; this is our chance to end this war.”
Flynn replied, “Righty-O, Krypt King. Keep Cali safe until I get there, okay?”
Although the Trap Master knew that Cali could handle herself, he spoke, “I’ll keep her safe.” After it was done, the Dread-Yacht broke off and headed to the Golden Desert.
As the Dread-Yacht reached the outskirts of the Golden Desert, Krypt King knew that a large ship like the Dread-Yacht will attract attention. He spoke,
“Cali, land the ship in a secluded area. I need you on the ground for a groundside reconnaissance.”
Cali asked, “What about you?” She saw Krypt King get into his gyrocopter and take off as he contacted her,
“I’ll scout out from the air. The best way is to know your enemy from both air and ground. That’s why I need you on the ground.”
Cali understood this and landed the ship in a secluded area as she pulled out her binoculars and spotted several walls blocking the paths. Besides the fact that several guards were patrolling the area, there was a path into the Queen’s temple. She decided to call up Krypt King,
“Scout 1 to Knight Eye, I found a path to the Queen’s temple.”
Krypt King answered, “Knight Eye here, I’ve confirmed your path to the temple, but my observation has pinpointed out walls as you’ve already noticed. But we have a bigger problem, there are Chompy Worms guarding the area as well.”
Cali looked at the areas where the Chompy Worms are and realized, “Yikes, that’s huge. But you know how to deal with them?”
Krypt King saw the catapults from the air and said, “We could use the catapults to chip away at their armor. If we do that enough times, they would spread their wings and fly away.”
Cali asked, “And you know this, how?”
Krypt King answered, “I read about the many species of Chompy from the library.”
Cali soon looked over at the information and said, “I’d say we have enough Intel for the mission. Krypt King, land in this clearing, I’ll be waiting.”
The Trap Master soon brought his copter in for a landing as Cali stood back and shielded her eyes from the sand being brought up from the copter. The engines shut off as the canopy opened and Krypt King stepped out. The two soon discussed their way to get into the Queen’s temple, mostly involving Krypt King’s Chompy Worm solution and lots of explosives to destroy the walls blocking the way.
After a while, they spotted Flynn’s ship over the Golden Desert, Cali waved to catch Flynn’s attention and soon enough, Flynn came running to the landing site. They two realized that he brought two extras with him which was Snap Shot and the Mini-Skylander, Barkley.
Krypt King and Snap Shot fist bumped as the Crocagator asked, “So this is it, huh?”
The knight replied, “The Golden Desert, the area where the Golden Queen’s temple is located.”
Snap Shot stated, “This is your show, Krypt King if she shows herself; I won’t stand in your way.”
Krypt King expressed his appreciation, “It is good to have friends.”
Cali smiled at this, “It’s good to see two Trap Masters have a friendly greeting before going off into battle.” She turned to Barkley, “So, are you ready for battle?”
Barkley replied, “I have the bark and the bite!”
Krypt King soon relayed the info, “We found a path into the Queen’s temple, but it’s guarded by some of her giant Chompy Worms.”
Cali finished, “Thanks to Krypt King, we know how to deal with them.” Flynn, who was shocked at the sight of a nearby Chompy Worm, decided to sit this one out. But Cali calmed him down saying,
“Don’t worry Flynn; we’ll need you to keep watch from above.”
Flynn accepted, “No problemo, Cali, just call me your Guy in the Sky!” A sort of romantic music filled the area as Flynn said,
“Go ahead, say it, come on.” The music kept playing as Flynn looked up, “Hey Pinkie, what are you doing?”
They saw Pinkie Pie with a record player as she said, “Just thought I’d lighten the mood for a little bit!” Cali looked up, “Now is not the time.”
Pinkie Pie joyfully replied, “Okie Dokie Loki!” She soon vanished in a flash of light as Cali turned to Krypt King, Snap Shot and Barkley,
“Skylanders, I’ll meet you over by the catapults.” She placed her hand on Flynn’s shoulder, “And Flynn, you’ve always been my guy in the sky.” This made the pilot say, “Boom-a-shaka-laka.”
Snap Shot chuckled, “Come on Romeo, we need you to keep an eye on us.” Soon enough, he got into the air as the three Skylanders began their journey through the Golden Desert. There was a Molekin that required a robot’s help to excavate treasure from the sands and it worked out thanks to Blaster-Tron. The trio encountered a few enemies along the way even ran into Tessa who needed Tae Kwon Crow’s help with researching the gophers in this area.
After that they met up with Cali at the catapults as she said, “As you know, this desert is crawling with Chompy Worms. We won’t be able to make it across with them out there.”
Krypt King finished, “But we can use this catapult to keep the Chompy Worms distracted while you clear the other side. You’re our fast runner out there; we’ll keep the Chompy Worms off of you.”
Barkley got onto the catapult as the Chompy Worm emerged from the surface. Snap Shot commented,
“That is one…ugly…motherf…” His statement was cut off with Cali shouting, “Barkley, cover me!”
The Mini-Skylander fired the catapult at the Chompy Worm as it took off a good chunk of its armor. Krypt King looked at it before it dove beneath the sand,
“Direct hit!” The Chompy Worm surfaced as Barkley opened fire, scoring several direct hits on the creature. After so many hits, the Chompy Worm’s armor molted off as wings appeared as the creature flew away. Barkley and Snap Shot were amazed by this and so was Cali. After the whole sight of the Chompy Worm flying away, the team approached Cali as she said,
“You did it, guys! And now I’ve got the explosives in place so use the plunger to detonate them.”
Snap Shot pushed down on the plunger as the wall exploded, Cali commented, “Now THAT was a BOOM!”
Krypt King looked beyond, “We still have a long way to go. No doubt that the Golden Queen would know that we’re here.” The mark on his hand sparked as he clenched his wrist with his other hand. Snap Shot noticed,
“It’s the mark, isn’t it?” Krypt King nodded, “Everytime it sparks, it means that a must trap villain is nearby.”
Barkley noticed, “Well whatever it is, it will have to fight us.”
Cali nodded, “I’ll meet you guys at the next wall. Be careful out there.” The team soon moved to another area where a bunch of the Golden Queen’s royal guards tried to attack them. But they were utterly defeated by the combined strength of three Skylanders. And soon enough, the source of what caused Krypt King’s mark to spark was none other than a Bone Chompy.
Although this particular Bone Chompy was a must trap villain, the battle was short since they defeated and trapped Bone Chompy. After defeating the rest of the enemies, the team met up with Cali at the next catapult where a Chompy Worm was swimming around its guard zone. Cali noticed,
“Another section with more Chompy Worms, all right guys, you know the drill.” The team nodded as Krypt King got onto the catapult and started to blast away the Chompy Worm’s armor. Cali ran into the sandy field yelling,
“Cover me, Krypt King!” He fired on the Chompy Worm taking a part of its armor off before it dove into the sand. Usually blasting the Chompy Worm was supposed to be a hard task, but this one has back up because several turtle bombers with appeared and were possessed by a Masker Mind as several of them kept coming to draw the knight’s attention away from the Chompy Worm until several Traptanium Arrows and Photosynthesis cannon shots went out into the field as Snap Shot and Barkley opened fire. Snap Shot spoke,
“Blast these Chompy Worms!”
Barkley spoke, “We’ve got you covered!”
Soon enough, the Chompy Worm surfaced and was charging towards the catapult. Krypt King fired several shots at it until it rammed into the catapult, throwing Krypt King in a dazed state until he shook it off. But the Chompy Worm was dazed as well, so the knight jumped from the catapult and onto the beast. The Chompy Worm thrashed about trying to shake the Trap Master off, but he kept a firm grip on the huge worm as slashed his sword at its armor. The Trap Master rode the Chompy Worm like some kind of demented rodeo until the last of its armor was removed and its wings sprouted up.
Krypt King jumped from the Chompy Worm as it flew away and landed with a somersault onto the ground where the creature once roamed. As the Trap Master stood up, he noticed his friends in front of him as Cali said,
“Krypt King, that was incredible!”
Snap Shot commented, “Who knew that you could do that?”
Barkley spoke, “You are a real Garden Gladiator, Krypt King!” The Undead Trap Master chuckled as he pushed down the plunger as the explosives detonated and destroyed the wall that blocked their way. But after the wall was destroyed, Krypt King’s mark sparked once again as he clenched it again as Cali asked,
“Krypt King, what’s wrong?” The Trap Master said in a shocked tone, “She’s near!”
Right on queue, an angry voice yelled, “HOW DARE YOU DESTROY MY WALLS!?!?” Cali, Snap Shot and Barkley looked up the stairs as the Golden Queen herself approached, “AND YOU”VE TURNED MY CHOMPY WORM PETS INTO WORTHLESS BUTTERFLIES! Well, two can play at that game!”
The Golden Queen trained her staff on Cali as she fired at her. But soon enough, something grabbed Cali from behind and tossed her out of the way. She looked up and saw Krypt King holding his Traptanium Sword in front of him attempting to block the beam from the Golden Queen’s staff. But as he was blocking it, his strength was failing as well and as soon as he lowered his blade, the beam turned him into a gold statue which earned a couple of gasps from Cali and the two Skylanders. The Golden Queen, although shocked smiled evilly knowing that she finally has him,
“Finally, I finally have what I have wanted for so long and much more valuable to me!” She laughed as the golden statue of Krypt King floated away with her.
Cali couldn’t believe what she saw and neither could Snap Shot and Barkley. She said, “He took the gold beam…to save me?”
Snap Shot remembered, “Krypt King cares about his friends and would gladly put his friends first before himself.”
Barkley realized, “Even though he’s been turned into a statue, we can still save him.” Cali knew for a moment that they have to go after the Golden Queen and help Krypt King.
Cali picked herself up as she had a look of determination in her eyes, “Let’s make sure that she doesn’t keep him for long.”
Snap Shot understood this, “We came too far to see our friend captured!”
Barkley nodded, “Let’s go after her!” The three put their hands in as they lifted them up and yelled,
“For Krypt King!”
Meanwhile inside the temple, the Golden Queen was snickering to herself now that she finally has what she always wanted. The statue of Krypt King floated beside her as she looked at her captive,
“So, Krypt King after all these years, you have my attention. First you capture my fellow Doom Raiders and then deliver yourself?” She laughed,
“If I knew that you would just come all the way to my palace, I would’ve never considered hunting you in the first place.”
The statue stood motionless as a statue should be as she noticed that something hasn’t changed, “You still possess the Golden Kiss that I placed on you when I released you the first time.”
Although inside the statue, Krypt King thought, ‘Golden Kiss?’
The Golden Queen explained, “The Golden Kiss was meant so that only I can break your gold statue form. Which I won’t until you accept your defeat and agree to be with me.”
Krypt King thought, ‘I will never surrender…not to work for you.’
Soon enough, the Golden Queen and the Gold Statue Krypt King reached the Jeweled Coliseum where she placed him on a stand. She looked at the statue and said,
“Maybe seeing your little friends getting beaten by my royal guards will get you to surrender.”
This made Krypt King yell from inside the statue although he couldn’t speak, ‘NO!!’
The Doom Raider laughed as she proceeded up to the higher levels leaving Krypt King alone in his statue form. The Trap Master needed to find a way to break out of his statue form, there just had to be a way. She was right about the Golden Kiss, only the Golden Queen can release Krypt King. So he stopped struggling and calmed down as he felt a power slowly build up.
It wasn’t until Cali, Snap Shot and Barkley arrived at the Jeweled Coliseum as Gold Krypt King was happy to see them again, ‘My friends, my teammates, my great allies!’
Although the Golden Queen was less than pleased to see them as she spoke, “Didn’t I warn you, Skylanders? Didn’t I warn you to stay away from my sacred temple?”
Snap Shot spoke, “Warning us will not cut it from what you did!”
The Golden Queen replied, “Well I have been very busy lately. It was definitely on my to-do list. Anyway, I suppose you’re here to save Krypt King? ”
Barkley punched his fists together, “Give us Krypt King and this won’t have to get ugly!”
The Golden Queen shook her head, “But he is no longer your friend and fellow Skylander. He has become much more precious and important to me…And I have no intention of giving him back!”
Cali brought out her pick-axe, “You’ve asked for it!”
The Golden Queen announced, “Royal Guards Destroy the Skylanders and their little friend!”
The trio yelled, “FOR KRYPT KING!” The trio soon charged into battle as several of the Golden Queen’s royal guards were destroyed by the ferocity and determination of our three heroes.
As the heroes were battling against the Golden Queen’s forces, the statue of Krypt King remained inert as Krypt King himself was thinking of a way to break the Golden Kiss that the queen placed on him. He knew that his friends were in trouble, he wanted to find a way as quick as possible. Although he could hear the queen demanding his friends to stop resisting, they ignored it and the queen started firing eye lasers from a statue just above him which made him worried of his friend’s safety even more.
All of a sudden, the platform rumbled as a bomb was thrown at one of the statue pillars which made the Trap Master realize that his friends are going to destroy the platform that he was standing on. This made the queen say,
“Perhaps that fool Kaos was right about you all along. You are quite a powerful foe as it is, not as much to save you but still worth noting.” Soon enough, the sands in the arena started to rumble as the mouth of a Chompy Worm appeared as the queen stated, “Even the very sands you stand on must submit to my rule.”
This made the trapped Krypt King think harder on how to break out until he heard a voice in his head speak to him,
“Don’t struggle Krypt King.”
Krypt King asked, “Who are you?”
The voice replied, “I am someone from your past. Someone who can help you break what the Golden Queen has placed upon you.”
Krypt King asked, “Why should I trust you? You’re just a voice in my head.”
The voice stated, “A voice in your head that could help you save your friends from these fiends that the queen has let out.”
Krypt King, who was determined to save his friends made his decision, “Tell me what I need to do.”
The voice replied as he gave him his instruction, “The mark on your hand is the key.”
Krypt King thought about this, “The mark is the key?”
Soon enough outside of the statue, the left hand started to spark in a powerful energy. The Golden Queen was determined to defeat these heroes as she spoke,
"Look, I’m sure in some circles your bravery and heroism is really quite appreciating, but it’s getting in the way of MY World Domination! So I’ll be putting a stop to all of it right now.” She noticed, “Since none of the currently undead seem capable of defeating you, I’m afraid I would bring someone very special back to unlife.” She announced,
“GRAVE CLOBBER, ARISE FROM YOUR TOMB!” Soon enough, a tomb rose up from the sand and shown a burly mummy with a burial mask as he looked at the heroes,
“I’m going to bury you!”
As the mummy approached, Snap Shot and Barkley fired their respected weapons as Cali snuck behind for a pick-axe strike at his back. This infuriated the mummy as he tried swatting the adventurer several times and she always dodges it. It wasn’t until something caused all fighting to cease as everyone turned their attention to the statue of Krypt King as it started to glow from the left hand until it expanded throughout the statue. Soon enough, the statue shattered as a ball of light flew from the platform to the center of the arena.
As the dust settled, everyone from the heroes, the crowds to the Golden Queen and Grave Clobber saw as the figure was still bathed in light until the left hand glowed once again as the light faded. Once it faded, Krypt King revealed himself, but the only thing that shocked everyone was the color of his armor, it did not possess the black and yellow coloring, but a more golden yellow and white coloring. Instead of white bones, they were the color of black like his broadsword, but the most defining feature was his eyes, instead of red they were blue as he now stood in his battle stance. The Golden Queen yelled,
“Impossible! Only I had the power to release you!”
Krypt King flashed his hand as the mark sparked, “So did I and I didn’t even know it.”
The queen pointed, “Yet, you’ve retained your gold color!” Krypt King replied, “I am not a golden statue and this might be a gold color. But I am not Gold Krypt King…I am NITRO Krypt King!”
The Golden Queen was furious, “Grave Clobber, Capture Krypt King one way or the other!”
Nitro Krypt King looked at his friends, “You can sit this one out.”
Cali was smiling as well as the rest of the Skylanders knowing that they are glad to see Krypt King again as they stood back.
Grave Clobber bashed his fists, “You're History!” He charged as Nitro Krypt King charged as well in an incredible speed. When he reached the burly mummy, he leaped and slashed at Grave Clobber, knocking him to a wall as he got up. He opened his faceplate and let loose his swarms as they began stinging Grave Clobber as he thrashed around,
“Get them off me, get them off!!” That left him open to an open strike to the head as Nitro Krypt King used his pommel to knock Grave Clobber into the last statue pillar, knocking the entire platform on top of him. His mark soon sparked a brown color as he used it to open a capture vortex as Grave Clobber yelled as he was being sucked in,
“Hey, I want my…MUMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!” The vortex closed as Nitro Krypt King looked up at the Golden Queen,
“Is that all you got?”
She was furious as she said, “Don’t think that this is over, Krypt King. Not by a long shot! We will meet again!” She soon vanished as Nitro Krypt King returned to normal. He noticed his friends approach as Cali spoke,
“Krypt King, you freed yourself from being a gold statue!”
Snap Shot noticed, “You’ve also manage to gain a Nitro Power on your own.”
Barkley jumped, “Way to go, Krypt King!”
The Trap Master nodded, “I know, but the Golden Queen has retreated into her palace. She will most likely be in her Throne Room.” He pressed a button on his communicator which sent a signal to his gyrocopter as it rose up from beneath the platform,
“I need to finish this.” Cali spoke, “I’m going with you. If you’re finishing this fight, I will see that it will be finished.”
Krypt King nodded as he turned to his fellow Skylanders, Snap Shot put his hand up, “We’ve fought enough. This is your fight, Krypt King and you should end it.” Barkley just gave him a thumbs-up as the two disappeared in a flash of light. The copter landed as both scout and knight nodded before boarding the craft and taking off towards the golden pyramid.
Meanwhile in the Throne Room, the Golden Queen was beyond furious knowing that she was outsmarted by Krypt King yet again. It was nearly driving her crazy as she was turning some of the décor to gold,
“How dare he outsmart me again!” She turned a plant to gold, “And the rest of his friends attacked me! I tried to be fair about this!” She turned a sheep to gold, “Was it too much to ask for all Skylands to follow a few simple RULES!?” She pointed to the only person in the room, “Glumshanks!”
The troll frighteningly replied, “Yes…I mean no…I mean whatever you say, your royal golden queeness.”
The Queen was impressed, “Good answer, well if the Skylanders, more importantly Krypt King is trying to test my mettle? IT’S TIME FOR HIM TO TASTE MY 24 CARAT FURY!!!” She knew just what to do,
“Glumshanks, move the Ultimate Weapon to target…THE SKYLANDER ACADEMY!!”
Soon enough, the Weapon was in range of the Academy, while the others were preparing for battle, Buzz knew for certain that Krypt King and Cali didn’t come back. The veteran knew that the Trap Master was not going to stop until the Golden Queen is defeated. Buzz soon said,
“Good luck out there, Krypt King. I know you can beat her!”
