//------------------------------// // Clouds- NintendoGal55 // Story: The FlutterDash Group Collab // by Dalek Saxon //------------------------------// Clouds by NintendoGal55 Clouds had been a big part of their lives. Being pegasi made it a bit of a given. Their hometown was the majestic sky city of Cloudsdale, to which they were within and upon clouds every day of their lives. Rainbow Dash was the team leader of Ponyville's weather division, surrounded by and working with clouds just about every day. Even her house was made of clouds, put together in a beautiful masterpiece. While Fluttershy wasn't much of the fast-flying type, she never could deny the sweet and soft comfort of clouds. They were a perfect place to lie down for a nap, stargaze, or even better, a perfect private place for making out. That last part especially made it fun to be on clouds. All snuggled up in each other's hooves, whispering sweet things to each other, sharing kisses, a lot of kisses... Her train of thought was interrupted when she could see a presence landing on the expanse of cloud next to her. Fluttershy sat up, about to greet her beloved, only to see that it was probably not the best time. Rainbow Dash was frowning, clearly irritated. For a moment, Fluttershy recoiled, wondering if it was her fault. But as the seconds passed, all Rainbow did was stare down at the cloud, occasionally letting out a huffy breath. Fluttershy relaxed as she realized that it had nothing to do with her. "Rainbow?" She asked softly, going over to her, "Are you all right?" Rainbow let out another huffy breath, shaking her head, "No. Had a real bad day." Seeing what was coming, Fluttershy came next to her, kissing her cheek and bringing a wing over her back, "Would you like to talk about it?" Instead of responding to that, Rainbow just kept talking, "Our new boss hates me. I'm not just sayin' that, it's true! Whenever she talks to the other pegasi, she's all smiles and super nice. But when she's talking to me, she's all stiff and really rude. I don't get what her beef is with me! I didn't do anything to her! Get this, she docked my pay last week! I asked her why, she said that my work performance was lacking. What is she talking about?! I'm the one in charge of the weather ponies! She's the boss who looks over things! I'm doing my job! Shouldn't she be doing hers?!" "Oh..." Fluttershy murmured in sympathy, bringing a foreleg around her shoulders, "That's terrible." "I'll say it is!" Rainbow ranted, "Anytime I say something to the others, they just laugh it off and think I'm crazy! Why? 'Cause they think she's the NICEST boss like EVER! She's a wolf in sheep's clothing, Fluttershy! You know me, I don't make things up about ponies!" Fluttershy smiled and kissed her cheek, "I know you don't." "Thing is, I got no leg to stand on! I tried going to my supervisor to file a complaint, but they said I had to have evidence! Oh yeah, like my boss is going to treat me like garbage in front of everypony else for evidence! I can't work like this! What should I do?!" "Be nice to her." Rainbow looked at her incredulously. "...What." Giving a smile, Fluttershy nuzzled her, "Be nice. If she's going to be rotten to you, then the best thing you can do is be nice. And I don't mean cheerful like Pinkie, but I mean being polite and pleasant to her. I know it might sound odd, and believe me, I'd like to give her a piece of my mind for treating you like that. But I think it would work a lot better if you were nice. Think about it, one given reason why ponies can be rotten is because they get a reaction out of it. They feel empowered. But if you're nice, there's no one to appreciate the rotten behaviour. Trust me, she's going to see that being rotten to you has no effect on you and stop. If she has no power over you, she can't do anything about it. "Besides, I've learned something from you for ages, Rainbow. You've told me that you can't control other ponies. They're going to say and do whatever they want and they have the right to it. But you have the right not to react to it. You have the right to keep them from taking away your power. All you can do is control your own actions and reactions." "...Flutters..." Rainbow murmured, then gave her a sweet smile, "Using my own advice to you against me, eh? Heh, you're right." Fluttershy giggled, nuzzling noses with her, "I learned something from a very smart pony. I think you just needed a moment to remember it." Laughing a bit, Rainbow hugged her, "You're the best, Fluttershy! I'll do that when I go to work tomorrow. But hey, thanks for listening to me." "No problem," Fluttershy hugged her back, "I love you, Dashie." "And I love you, Fluttershy," Rainbow gave her a sweet kiss, "Now let's put these clouds to good use, shall we?" Fluttershy was sent into a burst of giggles when Rainbow tackled her onto the cloud. There was another thing about clouds that meant something to them. They were a perfect place to be able to just sit and talk to each other about things.
