Pinkie Pie's Mystery Mane

by Danthebronyman

The One and Only Chapter

This is the story of the time Pinkie Pie lost her mane.

It was a usual morning in Ponyville. The sky was clear, Celestia's sun rained down upon the ponies, and it was an in-general amazing Spring day. Pinkie awoke to the fresh smell of blueberry muffins. She slowly opened her eyes, still a bit groggy. She had spent most of the night planning a colt's birthday party and had fell asleep in doing so. She sniffed the air once more, confirming the delectable smell. She uncovered herself, slowly getting out of bed. It is rather interesting how one night with little sleep can affect a pony. She exited her upstairs bedroom and proceeded to make her way down the flight of stairs going down to the main area of Sugarcube Corner. She entered the colorful kitchen to see Mrs. Cake pulling out a batch of muffins from the oven. She made her presence clear to Mrs. Cake as she walked in. She didn't notice the look of surprise on the mare's face at first, but then dwelled deeper into her facial expression.

"Uh, hi Mrs, Cake. Why are you giving me that strange look?" she asked.

"Well Pinkie, I believe that if you look in a mirror you'll understand..." responded Mrs. Cake

Pinkie found that statement a bit weird, so she walked back upstairs and went into the bathroom. She opened the wooden door and looked just over the sink, as this was the only place in the building that had a mirror. She then noticed that she was bald. No big deal right? This is a rather intriguing problem. Her Pinkie Sense was now partially impaired now, as it occasionally involves her hair. Not to mention that the poofy beauty was amazing. How could life go on without her mane! She decided that maybe Twilight knew what to do. So, she thought it best to head on down to the castle and ask for advice.

Pinkie Pie arrived at the castle after a brief walk through the streets of Ponyville, although, this timing was impeded by her urge to greet everyone she sees. She knocked on that door to the crystal masterpiece and waited. Finally, spike came to the giant double door.

"Hi Pinkie, how can I-. Uh Pinkie, you do know your mane is gone, right..?" he blurted out.

"Yeah... I came here to get help from Twilight about that." she responded.

"Uh, come on in." Spike replied. He then began to lead her through the maze that was Twilight's crystal castle, in all it's shining glory. Passing by several doors, sculptures, and other decoratives. They finally reached Twilight's location, her study. Spike knocked on the door.

"Come in Spike." Twilight answered, voice slightly raised to amplify through the door. Following this, Spike opened the door and came inside the medium sized, purple room with Pinkie Pie.

"Er, Pinkie has a slight issue she'd like your help with." Spike stated.

"And what is that?" she asked, writing something in a scroll.

"Just turn this way Twilight." Spike said. Twilight then turned her head in their direction to see Pinkie, and her bald head.

"Oh dear." griminced Twilight.

"Yeah, can you help me with this, somehow?" urged Pinkie. "Like, is there some kind of spell to replace it, or help me find it?"

That's all Twilight needed. She than immediately began to go through a decent shelf of books she kept in her study. They were all fairly big, had different colors, some had fancy names, and were clearly what books Twilight found most useful-kept there for easy access. This searching continued on for several minutes, Twilight seeming to get a bit irritated.

"It appears I don't have anything about hair spells, or remembrance spells here; as if we can see where you left it, we could go and retrieve it." Twilight grunted. "However, we could go check the library."

Twilight, Spike, and Pinkie then proceed to the castle's library. Where the numerous books of Twilight's were kept. They reached the doors, and went inside. It was a decent sized library, about 50 ft tall, at least 150 feet wide. And of course, it was crammed with shelves full of books. Some being literary masterpieces; others being random "how-to's." They walked up and down the aisles, until Twilight eventually stopped.

"I don't really have anything about hair-regrowth. However, I do have this." she stated as she pulled out a light blue book titled, "Remembrance and Memory Spells." She then opened it up, looking at the table of contents. After apparently finding what she wanted, she flipped to a page.

"Ok. I think I have something. This spell will make you remember what happened in the last 24 hours. The memory(s) will appear in your head, flashback style. You can skip one hour by moving your head clockwise, in a circle." Twilight recited. "Are you ready?"

"I'm ready!" Pinkie yelled.

"Ok." Twilight replied. "Remember what has been forgotten day past, rewind time in your mind and find what you thought last!"

Then Pinkie was in darkness, inside her mind. She started floating around. Finally, a small bang happened, popping up a video-screen like object. Following this, it starting to play her memory, starting from just before noon, the day before. It showed Pinkie Pie baking a large cake, which was not unusual. However, this cake was fairly huge. It appeared to be chocolate, with several stories. After a few hours of watching the cake cook in the oven, she opened it and placed the culinary art piece on the top of the stove. She then began to frost it, adding a nice blue to the main parts of the cake, with a slight gold trim. This itself took an hour or so. By this time, night had struck. Pinkie was visibly tired, and walked off. Heading to her room. She then got up into her bed, and went to sleep. It took her, perhaps two minutes to successfully fall at rest. As she did so however, he pet and friend, Gummy appeared. He then slowly, began to chew off Pinkies hair. This took him a bit, but he succeeded. Why he did so, who knows.

Pinkie then awoke. She explained what she had seen to Twilight, followed by a few giggles. She then went home, realizing she'd just have to regrow it. All's well that ends well I suppose.
