Jan, 1st, The 1000th Year of the Celestial Era.
Ponyville, Equestria.
6:00, A.M. Ponyville Town Hall.
The mayor had finally ended her speech. There was a glorious round of applause and then the mayor had one last piece of new's.
"And now i am happy to announce the very pony that give's us the sun and moon every day. The the wise and powerful bringer of harmony to the land of equestria, Princess Celestia!" The curtain's were pulled back, the birds and royal band began to sing. But there was nopony on stage. The crowd began to talk amongst themselves. Meanwhile Twilight was panicking.
OH NO! WHERES THE PRINCESS!! Her six acquaintance's noticed her distress and went to her aid.
"Hey Twilight?" Gadget asked the frazzled mare.
"What's wrong?" Rainbow dash asked. Before Twilight could give an answer the whole town hall stopped as an evil laugh cut through the air.
"AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!" Twilight's eye's shrunk to the size of pinprick's.
"Oh No!" She wailed holding, her face with her hooves.
"Well hello my subject's." Nightmare's voice projected through out the silent town hall.
"It has been so long since I've set eye's upon your precious little sun loving face's." The entire town hall was in shock but murmurs still circulated amongst the crowd.
"Who is that?"
"Were's The Princess?"
"Why does she look so evil?"
All of these were silenced as Nightmare let out another blood curdling laugh.
"AHAHAHAH!! You little fool's! I can sense your fear! It fill's your hearts and possessions your mind's----"
"What have you done with the princess!" Rainbow's voice cut the mad pony's rant off. Nightmare looked throughout the town hall.
"WHO DARE'S TO INTERRUPT THERE QUEEN!?"
"I DO!" Gadget shouted as he made his way through the crowd to the front of the stage, now preoccupied by the Alicorn.
Rainbow what were you thinking! He knew who this mare was. This was Nightmare moon. He hear about her in the various book he read as a colt.
All the while Twilight was mouthing, N!O NO! NO! NO! But Gadget couldn't see her. He was to focused on this very big threat to not only Rainbow and his friends but also ponyville, his home.
"So what have you done with our princess?" Gadget repeated getting to the front of the stage. While most would think he was foolish, he knew at least he hoped, he knew what he was doing. She looked like the princess but she was radiating the raw emotion of hate. He new she was powerful that much was obvious. So he decided to her her focus all of her attention on him. He figured that if he got hurt he could heal faster than a normal pony. Oh how wrong he was. Nightmare regarded this strange pony, garbed in electronics and armor.
"Just who do you think you are little fool!" Nightmare shouted in gadgets face. He filched back a little. He then turned his head back to the crowd and winked.
Twilight saw the smirk on his face. No! No! No! repeated the mantra in her head. Gadget meanwhile was wandering why no pony was running.
"You know Queen you could really use a breath mint." He calmly said to Nightmare's face.Nightmare did not appreciate this lowly pony insulting her. Her face was a masks of stone as her mind raced with thought. How is this fool still alive!
Five of his acquaintances were shocked at his brashness with this mysterious mare. Twilight was livid with fear. You stupid idiot. Stop it!
"So i'll ask again seeing as you forgot---" Nightmare brought her hoofs up.
"SILENCE YOU LITTLE WHELP! I AM NIGHTMARE MOON! I SHALL NOT BE TALKED TO LIKE A COMMON THRALL" Nightmare said stomping her hoof onto the ground splitting the stage in two. Gadget backed up a few feet. Now everypony was scarred now, trying to get out of the town hall, pushing and shoving. The mayor however kept her cool. She looked at the few royal guard's stationed in ponyville.
"Seize her!" She shouted, a hoof pointed at Nightmare moon. "Only she knows were the princess is!" The royal guards took the air, intent on capturing this interloper.
"You fools really think you can defeat, ME!" Nightmares magic flared to life as she conjured up a lightning storm. Bolt's of lightning cracked through out the town hall. The guards managed to evade a few stray bolt's but eventually the flurry of lightning was to much. With a flash and a bang the two royal guards fell to earth, there fur smoking and there body's twitching uncontrollably.
Gadget meanwhile was back peddling from the stage as fast as he could.
OH CRAP! OH CRAP! WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! Then he remembered. He did this to save rainbow's hide. That thought brought him little comfort. Mostly because there was now a very mad alicorn threatening to blast the town hall back to the stone age. Gadget looked around. The town hall was mostly empty now. The girls were gone. In fact only a few straggler's remained including the royal guard's who were now coming out of there daze.
As for Nightmare, well she was loosing what little bit of sanity she had left. Her storm while it started out small was getting bigger and bigger.
"You all dare to defy your queen! I SHALL SHOW YOU THE TRUE EXTENT OF MY POWER!" Nightmare began to feed more magic into her dark storm and more lightning and thunder began to rumble through the building shaking the very ground they stood upon. Gadget could see were this was going. He looked around. All of the pony's were gone except for the guards and Mayor Mare who was now trying to help the two grown stallions get out of the building. Gadget ran over to them and using his magic and his armor he was able to haul one of the injured Pegasus onto his back.
"RUN!" The group hauled tail out of the building just as there fur began to stand on end. They ran through the hall's, taking corner's at brake neck speed's and running through the atrium to the front door's. YES!
"AHAHAHAHAHAH NO ONE ESCAPES MY FURY!" NO! Gadget blew the doors off there hinge's with a magic missile. Outside was chaos incarnate. There were pony's running all over the place. He had little time to stop and star tho because the sensor's in his suit were going haywire. He stopped and looked back to see that the mayor was struggling to keep up. So he made a snap decision. He ran over to a dumpster in a nearby ally and place the guard down gently.
"Stay here. I'll be back." He then ran back into the atrium to retrieve the mayor and the other guard. He hauled both of them up with his magic and ran for the entrance. however the sensor's in his suit were in the red. Oh no. He got to the entrance when his instrument's suddenly went dead. What! With no power his suit stopped moving. He was jarred and lost concentration on his spell. The mayor and the guard fell to the ground right in front of the town hall. They looked at gadget. Then the trembling got worse. Soon the very ground was splitting around them.
"Listen just go there isn't any time." He said his voice not betraying his fear at the prospect of dying at the hooves of a very angry demi-god. The mayor and guard looked at Gadget blank stare's on their scarred face's. He just gave them a smile. The building was beginning to fall apart around them. A small window burst above the group showering them with glass. Then the roof collapsed blocking off the exit and leaving Gadget trapped in the building.
Gadget could see the Mayor and the guard pick themselves up off of the ground through a small opening in the debris. "Don't worry. I'll be fine." He said his smile getting bigger. The mayor looked at him and nodded.
"Come on High Flyer." She said looking to the guard.
"We have to go and get the town under control." She ran off into the chaos. High Flyer looked at gadget one last time before he ran after the mayor. Gadget meanwhile was trying to figure out a way out of his situation. If he could get to the emergency release button on his chest then he might be able to find another way out. Before he could think of moving a muscle there was a loud boom followed by his world going black.
