Oct, 10, 989, C.E. Canterlot, Equestria.
Gadget was scarred stiff. No matter how hard he tried to he just couldn't move. He was back in that clearing surrounded by timber wolves all of them ready to take bite out of him. He closed his eye's waiting for the end. But it didn't come.
Instead he heard a roar of anger and saw a flash of light. One of the wolves was vaporized right there on the spot. The other tree backed up a little bit but held there ground. Before any of the other's could react one of them was crushed by a giant blue hammer that fell from the sky. Gadget looked up to see his father above the wolf that had just been force fed a hammer and a smile of hope adorned his face.
Just as the dream was going so well he was suddenly ripped from this dream into another of his nightmare's. This one involved him being trapped inside of a cave with no way out. He used his horn to illuminate his surrounding's in an emerald green glow but the darkness was to much. It just kept coming, sucking in all of the light around him like a possessed beast. Just as darkness threatened to consume him he awoke.
I Awoke once more to the sound of my own screaming. Mom and pops came into the room with a start and ran to my bedside. My new life in this strange body and new world was all a whirlwind of new sensations and experience's. Luckily i had an awesome set of parents that made everything seem, almost normal. I used my magic to turn on the light sitting on my night stand next to my bed.
"Oh honey it it the nightmare's again?" mom asked.
"Ya."
"The same one's?" Dad asked.
"Somewhat."
"Huh?" They both asked at the same time.
I took my time calming myself down enough to talk.
"Well these were different."
"How so?"
"Well for one thing there were no big green eye's starring at me."
That sent a chill down the family's spine's. For year's Gadget was tormented by a strange being in his sleep. He could never see it but he knew it was there thanks to its dark green eye's, filled with malice and hatred borrowing into him like a drill. He shook the image out of his brain and continued his story.
"No these one's were different. Instead i was in a forest surrounded by timber wolves--" "I told you we shouldn't have let him stay up and watch that documentary!" Ruby accused Sky thrusting a hoof in his direction. He put his two front hoofs up in defense. "Now honey bun's we agreed--" "Oh don't "honey buns" me. I knew he would get nightmare's from watching that show. Did you listen to me no. You insisted that it would be fine he--" Ruby was cut off mid rant by Gadget loudly clearing his throat.
"Sorry to interrupt." He said sheepishly. "But that wasn't the end of the dream."
"Oh." Ruby sat down on her haunch's her face flushing red through her coat.
"Please continue." Sky beckoned with a hoof.
"Well anyway, you and dad were there!" This got the adult's undivided attention.
"Really?" Sky asked trying to keep his blue coat from going purple.
"Now son what were we doing in this dream of yours? It wouldn't happen to have involved your mother and i "Being Extra Friendly" with each other would it?"
Gadget starred at his dad for a sec. He thought about it then his face went from black to bright red.
"Eww dad! No you and mom weren't having sex!" He tried to get the image's that popped into his brain out but they were stuck there with mental grade crazy glue.
"Oh now i'm going to need more therapy." Gadget wined.
"Wait one second." Ruby piped up. She gave me a questioning look.
"How do you know what sex is? What is that teacher over at the academy teaching you!?"
I just looked at both of them with a deadpan.
"Really? We live in Canterlot, The most educated city in equestria and i have the honors of going to one of the best schools ever. And i have access to the biggest library in the history of ever! That and i have all of the knowledge that came with me from earth. So ya i'm pretty sure i'm one of the smartest pony's around." I looked at them with a smug look on my face, my nightmares long gone from my mind.
Ruby looked at Sky and then they both starred at me. There looks went from one of worry to one of happiness. They both came and nuzzled me in affection.
"You know honey." Ruby spoke to me still clinging to my side.
"We often forget that you are somepony that has been down the road of life before." She turned her head and looked into my eye's, her's brimming with tear's. Now i felt guilty for making her cry. I nuzzled her back in an attempt to repair my words hurt.
"But remember this." She continued holding me in her warm embrace.
"You will always be our baby boy. No matter how old you may be or where you come from. When you fell from the stars into our live's it was like the heaven's had opened up and granted us the one thing we would need to make our little family complete."
"Your mother is right." Sky added as he embraced us both. Even tho he was a unicorn like us he was still huge by most pony's standard's.
"You may have been a grown up were you came from but now you are here, with us and you'r a little colt again. So that mean's you have to grow up all over again." I thought about there words and let them sink in.
"Ya you guys are right. I may have been an adult then. But now i'm just a child and I still have a lot to learn."
I looked at my new family and sighed.
"You know that no matter what i will always love you two right?"
The family stayed there for awhile until gadgets parents brought the main reason for them being there back into the forefront of my mind.
"So son back to your dream's." Sky said.
"Oh ya those. They were nothing special. Just more weird dream's of nothingness and darkness."
"And what about the one with us in it?" Sky said, a raised eyebrow and a smirk on his face.
"Uh Blah." I stuck my hoof in my mouth and pretended to gag.
"Goof all you want son. But one day you are going to meet some mare that will sweep you off your hoof's." Dad said.
"And when you do your not going to know what to say and end up looking like a complete goof in front of all of your friends." Rose interjected.
I thought about how my parents met but decided that we had all been side tracked enough tonight.
"Well anyway the dream was about the night you found me." Both adult's went quite at this.
"Really?" Sky said.
"And what were we doing in this dream of your's?" Rose asked this time.
"Oh it was awesome!" I said sounding every bit like the foal that i was at the time. "I was surrounded my timberwolves about to be there next meal and you two came charging in all like YAAAAA!!! Screaming in anger and you both demolished the wolves in like 10 seconds flat. I meen i wish i had a stopwatch to time you two." Both parents flashed a knowing look at the other.
"I meen ya it was a dream but still i could see you two doing that if i was in danger, right?" I looked at my parents. Both just looked at me and smiled.
"Of course my little spark of light." Mom said.
"We would fight the very hounds of tartarus for you." My dad added. I looked up at my family. Even tho some part of me missed earth, my friends and family, i knew that i had gotten them all back. Even if we weren't related by blood our bond would never be broken.
