A Midnight Eclipse

1: Prologue: Eclipse Part 1

January 16, Tuesday: 5:42 A.M. Luna's Residence

In a bedroom on the top floor of Vice Principal Luna's home, there was a young man by the name of Solar Eclipse, with skin similar to Sunset Shimmer's skin tone, spiked black hair with a single blue streak running down the left, sleeping soundly until he slowly felt his emerald green eyes open up. He knew the minute he opened his eyes that he would never go back to sleep, so he slowly crawled out of bed and looked around his room. His room was painted a crimson red and has several posters all over the wall. His 40 inch, plasma screen TV was on the opposite side of his room with a PS4 currently hooked up to it. Maybe I can get some more progress done on Fallout 4 before I have to go. He thought as he turned on his PS4 and started playing. After about 30 minutes of gameplay he heard footsteps coming towards his door. Guess Cynder just woke up.

When the door opened, it revealed a little girl with purple skin, dirty blonde hair, and fiery orange eyes wearing a cute little turquoise shirt and skirt to match with a symbol of a little green dragon on her skirt. "Good morning bubba. How long have you been up?"

"I've been up for about 32 minutes. Let's go get some breakfast, but let me get dressed first, alright? You can go ahead and get started, I'll be down there in a sec."

"OK." She said as she made her way down the stairs and into the kitchen. Alright, let's get this uniform on and get today over with. He quickly puts on his uniform along with a pair of dark blue jeans, a nice, black leather jacket and a pair of black and red tennis shoes. As he made his made his way down the stairs to the bathroom, his nose was hit with the smell of bacon. Looks like Cynder's already got the bacon started, I guess that means I got the eggs.

"Hey Cynder. I see you got the bacon ready."

She turned around and saw her brother wearing his uniform, "Yep. I also got Momma's coffee started, and I'm about to start your tea."

"Don't worry about all that, once I get my teeth brushed I'll take care of the rest."

Her happy expression turned to one of confusion, "You sure?"

He nodded, "Yeah, I got it."

She went away from the stove and began setting the table, "Alright then. Just don't take too long, I still need to get ready."

He chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll only be in there for about 5 minutes." After brushing his teeth, he came out of the bathroom and began making some eggs as Cynder went into the bathroom. After a few minutes he heard a door opening from the living room. Looks like Mother has finally awoken.

"Good morning Mom."

Luna groggily walks into the kitchen, "Eclipse? What are you doing up so early? How long have you been awake?"

"I've been up since 5:42. It's not that big of a deal." He passed his mother a cup of steaming hot coffee, which she happily accepted. "Here, we made you some coffee."

"Thanks." She says as she takes a sip of her coffee, "I'm telling you Eclipse, it could become a problem someday."

"Mom, it's fine. I just get up early. Come and sit down with us, we decided to make breakfast this morning since you've been so busy."

"Thank you." Luna took one of the plates and got some scrambled eggs and a few strips of bacon. "Sorry I haven't made you breakfast in a while, some crazy things have been happening at Canterlot High."

Eclipse got his own plate and got Cynder a plate too, "Yeah I already know about all of that. The Fall Formal she-demon incident, the Battle of the Bands, and then the Friendship Games with Twilight going magic demon." He said with a slightly annoyed tone.

"Don't use that tone with me, young man." Luna said while waving her finger.

"Sorry, mom." Eclipse sighed, "You've already told me all of this. I think you've told me like 5 times by now."

"That still doesn't mean you can use that tone with me."

"Sorry, mom." Eclipse said as he made his and Cynder's plates and set them on the table. "Cynder! Breakfast is ready!"

"I'm coming!" Cynder's voice was heard coming from the bathroom, a few seconds later the door opened and Cynder came out with her hair braided. "Sorry I took so long, Momma. My hair just wouldn't stay in it's braid."

Luna couldn't help but smile at her, "Don't apologize, sweetie. You did just fine on your own. Now why don't you come eat your breakfast? Eclipse already fixed you a plate."

"Thanks bubba."

Eclipse nodded as she took her seat and began eating away at her food. The three ate in silence for a few minutes until Eclipse said, "Oh, are we doing our game night, tonight?"

Luna giggled, "Yes, our game night is tonight."

"YES!" Eclipse said as he pumped his fist, causing Luna and Cynder to giggle a bit. "What? I love game night."

Luna gets another sip of her coffee, "I can see that. You always did love game night. Even when you were young, you always wanted to play games with me." She sighed dreamily, "I miss those days when you would sit on my lap while we played Halo 3 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

Eclipse blushed slightly, "Mom, I stopped doing that when I was 11."

"But it was so precious!" Luna cooed, "You with your little headset, shooting at aliens on my lap, I miss that."

Eclipse sighed, "I know you do mom, but you have Cynder for that now."

Cynder giggled, and Luna got curious, "Oh, how has school been since the Friendship Games?"

Eclipse thought for a second, pondering exactly how to word it. I would say "A living hell" but Cynder's here so I don't want to swear. "To put it nicely, horrible."

This made Luna's face shift in concern, "What do you mean? What happened?"

Eclipse sat in silence for a second, making sure to choose his words carefully, "After the Friendship Games, I guess you could say Principal Cinch went crazy. She became even more tyrannical than before, not sure how that was possible, but I digress. She began enforcing newer and more strict policies at school, even going as far as banning relationships."

This earned gasps from Luna and Cynder. "Why would she do that?!" Cynder asked in confusion.

"I don't know sis, but thankfully Aunt Cadance was able to convince her otherwise, but that barely helped. The worst part is that she keeps on expelling people for no good reason."

"That's horrible! I hope things get better soon."

"Knowing Cinch, they'll probably get worse."

Cynder looked at her brother with concern, "I hope that doesn't happen to you."

"Same here sis. What time is it?"

Luna checked the clock in the kitchen, "It's 6:24."

"Perfect," He got up and put his plate in the sink, "If I leave now I'll have over an hour to study at the library."

Cynder looked at him in disbelief, "You're leaving already?! My bus isn't even here!"

"I always leave around 6:00. Gives me plenty of time alone in the library to study."

Luna looked at him with a sad expression, "I still think you should try and make some-"

"Mother, please," Eclipse interrupted. "I already tried, but it didn't work." He said before shutting the door behind him. He made his way to his car, a new 2016 style Ford Mustang with a nice red paint job. He quickly got in, check the back seat making sure his stuff was there, put the keys in the ignition and drove off to Crystal Prep.

Back at home, Luna and Cynder stood there confused about what just happened. "Momma," Cynder said, "what's wrong with bubba?"

"It's nothing, sweetie. The kids at Crystal Prep don't like making friends, they're all for themselves." Luna said with a sad expression, but quickly tuned it into a smile. "Why don't I drive you to school today? It'll give you more time to hang out with your friends."

Cynder started to smile, "OK Momma. Let's go."

7:32 A.M. Crystal Prep: Library

Eclipse was in the library, reading an article on a computer and jotting down some notes when he heard someone yell "Go away." *sighs* Can't I study in peace? He turned the computer off and started walking towards the scream. As he walked down the hallway, he found a young girl with gamboge eyes, dark cornflower hair with cerulean and arctic blue streaks running through her hair, and light amber skin. She had a Crystal Prep uniform, lightning bolt earrings, light orange goggles on her head and was wearing dark blue lightning bolt boots. He recognized her as Indigo Zap and a young man with bronze, gray hair, neatly pressed and permed, wingtip shoes, crystal prep uniform with a pin of two scrolls and a quill, known simply as Ledger.

"How many times do I have to tell you, I don't want to go out with you?!" Indigo spoke with anger present in her voice.

"Aw, you know you want me. You're so cute when you're angry." Ledger said with a smug grin on his face.

Indigo was about to kick him straight in the family jewels until they both heard someone walking towards them.

"Ledger," Eclipse began while shaking his head, "Why do you insist on flirting with her? You know she'll never go out with you. Just go after someone else."

Ledger started to walk towards Eclipse with a very angry look on his face, "Stay out of this!" He shouted, "She will go out with me!!"

In your dreams. "Yeah, I don't think so. How many times has she rejected you, and shortly afterwards, proceeded to kick you in the nuts? 5 times, I think?"

"Actually 7 times." Indigo said as she started walking away.

"You need to stay out of my business!" Ledger continued shouting, getting a large crowd to form around him and Eclipse.

"Dude, I'm trying to help you. You need to stop going after her, it's hopeless." Eclipse said, trying to get Ledger to listen to reason. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Ledger started screaming as he tried to tackle Eclipse, only for him to side step causing Ledger to fall on the floor. "I don't want to fight you Ledger. You're making this a lot worse than it really is." He said as he tried to leave, but noticed the crowd. This distraction was all Ledger needed to tackle Eclipse and get them on the ground.

Ledger was about to punch him in the face until, "Solar Eclipse, Ledger Inkwell, report to the principal's office immediately."

They both looked up as they got off the ground. Ledger was the first to speak, "Oh great! Now I got in trouble because of you."

"OK, I didn't get you in trouble, you tackled me!" Eclipse said as they made their way to the principals office.

7:45 A.M Crystal Prep: Top Floor, Principals Office

Once they got to the principals office, they were greeted by Dean Cadence. "Hello boys, Principal Cinch would like to see you one at a time." She said with a warm smile, as Ledger walked in first. "I'm sorry about this, Eclipse. I'm sure it's nothing bad." She said to her nephew.

"I wish I had your confidence, Aunt Cadence. She didn't sound happy over the intercom."

"Oh, when have you known Principal Cinch to ever be happy?" Cadence said before she started giggling.

He started chuckling, "Fair point."

Deciding to change the subject, Dean Cadence asked, "So, how has Luna been doing?"

"Oh, she's been doing great. Apparently things are starting to calm down over at Canterlot High."

Cadence sighed, " That's good to hear. Maybe you can come by and visit sometime soon. School should be out for a week after Friday."

"I'll talk to mom about it when I get home."

Cadence was about to respond until Ledger came storming out of Principal Cinch's office. "THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs.

Eclipse gave an uneasy look towards her office. "I suppose it's my turn." He said as he walked into Cinch's office. He saw her with a file of papers in her hand, and a very unhappy look on her face.

"Sit down." She said with an ice, cold tone.

He did as he was told, and said, "Y-you wanted to see me, ma'am?"

"Yes I did, Eclipse." She said, locking eyes with him and putting her papers down, "I saw on the cameras that you and Ledger got in another small fight again." Eclipse started to get worried. I hope she's not mad about that. The last thing I want is to get in trouble because of that asshole. "Normally, I'd be upset that the fight even started to begin with," Cinch continued, "But I know better than to assume you started the fight. Ledger was pretty convinced that I was foolish enough to believe such a lie. Which is exactly why I gave him detention for a month."

"S-so...what does that mean for me?" Eclipse shakily asked. "Am I getting detention too?"

Cinch looked at Eclipse for a moment, before softening her look, "No. I know you didn't do anything to deserve getting attacked." Eclipse sighed in relief, "If you had fought back, you would be in trouble, but seeing as how you avoided hitting him, I see no reason to punish you. I will warn you: get in any more trouble, regardless of the situation, and you will be punished. Understand?" Eclipse nodded. "Good. You are free to go." Eclipse nodded, got up from his seat, and exited out the door.

"See? I told you that you'd be fine." Dean Cadence said to Eclipse as he walked down the stairs.

Eclipse chuckled, "Yeah, you were right. Thanks."

"It's no trouble at all." She finished off as she made her way to her office.

Meanwhile, Ledger was watching from the other end of the hallway, "You think you can get me in trouble and expect to get away with it?! Ha! You've got another thing coming!" He said in a a whisper, so he wouldn't be heard.

12:00 P.M. Crystal Prep: Cafeteria

Eclipse got his food and went to find a table to sit at, until he found the Shadow 5. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I sat with them. He started walking towards them when Lemon Zest, a girl with pinkish skin with bright green and yellow hair, wearing the Crystal Prep girls uniform, a reddish purple blazer buttoned up and with Shadowbolts on the pockets, a dark purple bow tie , a white undershirt with the collar raised up a little, and a purple bladed skirt with small blue lines going down the frills, dark purple knee socks and shoes with crystal hearts on the laces, saw him, "Yo, Eclipse! Come sit with us!" She cried out, waving at Eclipse.

He chuckled, and sat down next to her. Sunny Flare, a girl with turquoise-gray skin, cerise eyes and short mulberry hair with raspberry streaks was the first to speak, "I heard that you and Ledger got in trouble today."

"You could say that." Eclipse replied with a small frown.

"What happened?" Lemon Zest asked.

Eclipse took a second to reply, "Well....I was studying in the library when I heard Indigo screaming "Go away," and I decided to see what the ruckus was all about, and I saw Ledger trying to hit on Indigo again. I tried to tell him that it was hopeless, and that he should try another girl, but he tried to tackle me." The girls, except for Indigo, gasped, "We were sent to the office, and Ledger was given a month of detention, where I was given a warning."

"One would think after 7 failed attempts, that he wold give up." Sugarcoat, a girl with light purple skin, magenta eyes, orange glasses and two white pigtails with light blue streaks, commented.

"One would think that, but not him." Indigo commented, with anger in her tone.

Eclipse sighed, "Seriously. I just hope he doesn't cause anymore trouble. If I get in any more trouble, regardless of the situation, I'll get punished."

"Sounds like you need to be careful." Sunny said.

"Yeah, seriously." Eclipse said while checking his pockets, but couldn't find what he was looking for. "Oh, please don't tell me I forgot it today."

"Forgot what?" Indigo asked.

"My History notebook. I was writing my report for the Bismark battleship for Mr. Svengallop's class, and I must have left it at home." He groaned, "Shit! Now what am I gonna do?"

"Hey, maybe you left it in your car." Lemon suggested, "I think I left my science book in there when you picked me and Quill up from our homes."

"Huh," Eclipse wondered, "Maybe you're right. Why don't we go check?" He suggested.

"That'd be great! I need to find my science book, otherwise I'll get detention again." Lemon said as she got up with Eclipse and walked off.

12:05 P.M. Crystal Prep: Student Parking

As Eclipse was checking his car, he find his notebook and Lemon's science book. "Here we go, found them!" Eclipse cried out while Lemon Zest was checking the trunk.

"Awesome!" Lemon cried as she grabbed her text book, "Thank you so much for finding this! I was worried I would get detention." She said as she hugged her science book.

"Eh, what can I say? I like helping others. Even though some people can be a real ass about it." Eclipse mumbled that last part.

"Come on! If we hurry, we'll be able to finish our lunch before the bell rings." Lemon said as they made a run for the school,

As they ran for the school, Ledger came close to the car and found the front door still open and even the keys still in the ignition. Hah! This'll be too easy. He thought as he got in the car, closed the door, turned the keys, and headed straight for the school. This is what happens when you interfere with my plans to get Indigo, Eclipse. "You get your car crashed!" Ledger screamed as he jumped out the car, driving it straight through the main hall way.

When Eclipse heard the crash, him and Lemon were just outside the main door when they saw his car driving through the school. "MY CAR!!" He cried as he came running in to see the damage. Thankfully, it wasn't heavily injured, but the front bumper was bent all to hell, several cracks in the wind shield, and the hood was dented a bit. Ah, Dammit! Mom's gonna kill me when she sees this! He thought as he wondered who could've done this until-

"SOLAR ECLIPSE! TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE, NOW!!!" Cinch screamed through the intercom. Oh crap, now she's mad. Dammit! Today is not my day.

12:22 P.M. Crystal Prep: Top Floor, Principals Office

"Explain to me why your car is in the main hallway of my school!!" Principal Cinch screamed as she slammed her desk.

"I-I don't know! I was outside with Lemon Zest, getting some things that we left in my car, then next thing I know I see it in the hall way!" Eclipse said defensively.

"I warned you about getting into any more trouble, Eclipse," Cinch said, while getting some papers out. "Because you," She gets Eclipse's profile and rips it in half, "Are officially expelled from Crystal Prep High!" She screamed.

Eclipse's face shifted in horror, "WHAT?!?!"
