Chapter 9: Visit to Canterlot (part 3)/ Prepping for the Reveal

Canterlot Castle 7:00 a.m.

After a long night of careful planning, Kai and Garrin were finally ready to move forward with their plans to reveal their true forms to the citizens of Equestria. Kai awakened from a less than satisfactory sleep, since he and Garrin spent most of the night talking about how they should reveal themselves as otherworldly entities to this world’s denizens.

“Well it’s time for breakfast, then I need to head to Fleur’s boutique to see if she’s made any progress with my suit, Garrin needs to write Twilight a letter listing the specifics of her new task, and I need to ask Luna if she’ll be my date to gala.” Kai said as he wrote down his plan for the day. “I really need to get something to eat.” Kai said as he heard his stomach announce it’s lack of fullness. Kai looked over at Garrin and tapped him on the shoulder. “Garrin, wake up, it’s time to put our plan into action.” Kai said as Garrin yawned.

“Yes master.” Garrin replied sleepily. Garrin forgot he slept on the couch and tumbled down to the floor, and Kai couldn’t help but giggle at the display. “oh, hardy, har, I’d love to see you fall on your face in the morning.” Garrin said as he picked himself off of the floor.

“Yeah, yeah, now come on we're wasting time.” Kai said as he opened the door to their guest room. The two of them walked to the dining room with no disturbances, save one Blueblood decided that it would be a good idea to try and startle Kai, but the poor idiot missed his mark and tripped over his own hooves and fell face first into the floor. “While I admire your efforts, you still managed to screw yourself over.” Kai said as he walked past Blueblood’s defeated form.

Canterlot Castle Dining Room

After entering the Dining room, Kai  pulled out a chair for Luna to be polite. She gave me a small smile and sat down as Kai gently pushed her chair in and took his seat next to Garrin. The dining room was silent for a couple of minutes, until Kai broke the silence by muttering about Blueblood’s incompetence. Luna’s ears perked up at the sound of his voice. “What happened?” she asked.

“Blueblood tried to scare me while I was on my way here and failed miserably.” Kai said as he levitated an apple to his mouth. Luna looked at Kai with a slightly confused expression and subliminally asked him to explain what happened. “Garrin and I walked out of our room, the entire hallway was silent, the next thing I hear as we turned a corner was something hitting the ground, and what did we see? We saw Blueblood face down on the floor. As I was stepping over him I said “While I admire your efforts, you still managed to screw yourself over.”, he then ran back to his room in shame.” Kai said recounting the anti climactic encounter with Blueblood.

Luna and Celestia laughed at their nephew’s pathetic attempt at scaring their guest. “I find it amusing that Blueblood managed to foil his own plan by acting too hastily.” Luna said as she gave a cute little giggle at the short story. Breakfast was delicious, Kai ordered strawberry crepes with a latte, Garrin had Prench toast with tea, Celestia and Luna both had blueberry pancakes with hot chocolate. Each of them had rather enticing, yet embarrassing stories about each other that managed to fill the dining room with laughter.

After breakfast Kai decided to take Garrin with him to visit Fleur’s boutique in Canterlot to see his new suit for the Grand Galloping Gala. Kai also needed Garrin to come so he could get measured for his suit as well, and to show his new suit to Celestia and Luna to get their dresses made with the same material as well.

“Come on Garrin, you’ll be fine, Fleur just needs to get your measurements to make your suit, besides she’s a friend of Rarity’s too, so it’s a win-win for us both.”  Kai said as he and Garrin walked to Fleur’s boutique.

“I know master, I don’t mean to sound like I distrust her, I just prefer Rarity’s work that’s all.” Garrin said with a hint of uneasiness.

        Fleur’s Boutique

After what felt like half an hour walk, they finally arrived at Fleur’s Boutique to check on Kai’s new suit for the Gala. Garrin was excited for this, but not as excited as Kai was. They both wanted to see how much effort Fleur puts into her work, probably as much as Rarity. They entered the Boutique to find the elegant tailor working on another dress and turned to see them after they had walked in.

“Ah if it isn’t Kai, good to see you.” Fleur said with happiness and she finished tending to the dress. She then noticed the other pony next to Kai that she had never seen before. “Who is your friend there Kai?” Fleur asked with a quirked eyebrow.

“Oh, this Garrin, my faithful Dremora companion.” Kai responded as he gestured to the dark grey unicorn beside him. “Just so you know a Dremora is a spell summons from where I’m from, and they usually obey their masters’ every wish, but if they ever offer you a gift, never accept it.” Kai said as he recalled the story of A Tragedy in Black.

“Why not?” Fleur asked with her curiosity piqued by her new friend and customer. “Will something bad happen to the summoner if they accept the gift?” she asked with a hint of fear in her voice.

“If you accept the gift, the bond between master and servant will be broken and the Dremora you summoned will turn against you, but most casters are very well aware of this and never accept the gift offer.” Kai said with a hint of darkness in his voice.

“Luckily Garrin won’t ever do something like that, or he’ll be banished back to Oblivion without a date to the Gala.” he said with a smug grin on his muzzle.

“Dark topics aside, who was that lovely dress for?” Garrin asked as he eyed the beautiful dress sitting on the mannequin. Fleur looked back to the dress she was making before they had arrived.

“Oh, that dress is for Sassy Saddles, the manager of Rarity’s boutique here in Canterlot.” Fleur said as she checked the dress for any imperfections. This new bit of information came as a shock for both stallions as Rarity didn’t even mention that she expanded her business to Canterlot.

“Well that’s great, is this dress made from the material I gave you?” Kai asked as he eyed the dress for the scale pattern that signified the unique look of Dovahmail.

“I did not make this dress out of the material you gave me, but I do want to make dresses for the princesses once you present your suit to them.” Fleur said as she ignited her magic to levitate Kai’s suit into the main showroom. “I hope that you like it, I really worked hard on this suit.” Fleur said while placing the suit on Kai’s back.

“Great, let me go try this on before I go back to the castle to showcase your work.” Kai said as he went into one of the changing rooms. After five minutes, Kai stepped out of the changing room and came back to the main showroom. Garrin and Fleur were both staring with their jaws practically hitting the floor. “What’s wrong?” he asked looking at himself in the mirror checking for any imperfections in the suit.

Fleur was the first to snap out of her speechless state. “There’s nothing wrong with the suit, it’s just perfect and it really highlights all of your features in an aesthetically pleasing way!” she said with an awestruck expression on her muzzle. “Is it uncomfortable anywhere?” Fleur asked to make sure that the suit wasn’t causing Kai any discomfort.

“Nope, everything’s fine.” Kai said moving his forelegs, and wings to check the suit for any uncomfortable feelings from the material. “It’s perfection Fleur, now the other reason I came here with Garrin is because this lovable oaf doesn’t have a suit and I thought of bringing him here to you.” Kai said as he pointed a hoof at Garrin.

“No problem, I can get his suit done today since I’ve already made yours. So can you go back the castle to show the princesses your new suit?” Fleur said as she was slightly pushing Kai towards the door. “I really need to know if the princesses want their dresses made out of this material.” Fleur requested as she opened the door to her boutique.

(Canterlot Castle, Luna’s Room)

“Calm down Lulu, I’m sure you have a dress that suits you.” Celestia said trying to calm a frantic Luna find a dress to wear to the Gala. “You don’t understand Tia, I can’t find the gown that Rarity made for me last year! I really loved that one, but now it’s missing!” Luna whined as she searched every nook and cranny of her closet. The two princesses were so caught up in trying to find Luna’s gown they didn’t hear the door open or close.

“Well if you can’t find it, why don’t you just get a gown made out of This.” Kai said startling the two princesses half to death. After the initial shock of being surprised by their friend they stared in awe at the suit Kai was wearing, the primary color of the suit coat was white, the vest a deep red, the tie was white, and the shirt was black. The colors weren’t the only amazing thing about the suit, it was what it was made of, it was made of dragon scales.

“Oh my gosh, this suit is beautifully made, and I love way it hugs your body in a comfortable fashion!” Luna said as she eyed Kai’s suit. “Is this what you’re going to be wearing to the Gala?” she asked with a smile.

“That’s right, and if you’re wondering where I got this art piece of a suit from, I got it from Lady Fleur de Lis.” Kai said pretty much silencing their question of where this suit came from. “Lady Fleur also want to know if the two of you want your dresses made out of this material as well, so would you?” Kai asked with a smile.

“Oh I would love to see myself in a dress made out of dragon scales!” Luna said as she summoned her quill and parchment and wrote down her and Celestia’s measurements for him to give to Fleur when he returned to her boutique to pick up Garrin.

“Thanks a lot ladies. Trust me when I say that you’ll love these dresses when you see them in front of you.” Kai said as he was about to leave, but then he remembered that he needed a date he turned back around and looked at Luna. “Luna, will you be my date for the Grand Galloping Gala?” he asked with a pleasant smile.

“Yes, I would be honored if you’d be my date Kai.” Luna said with a smile, but on the inside she just wanted to tackle the stallion and kiss him full in the mouth for asking her to go with him.

“Great, now I need to go and get Garrin, can’t have him miss dinner.” Kai said as he teleported back to Fleur’s boutique.

(Fleur’s Boutique)

Garrin and Fleur were both waiting for Kai to return with Celestia and Luna’s answers in regards to making their dresses for the Gala. Garrin sat in a chair near the door with his suit nicely packed into a box, while Fleur was sitting on her couch reading a novel. Then they heard the sound of magic being used outside and Kai strode in with a smile plastered on his face.

“So what did they say, do they want dresses made out of your suit’s material?” Fleur asked with a hopeful expression on her face. Her answer came in the form of a piece of parchment with various measurements on it. Fleur gasped in surprise as to what this piece of parchment was. “I-Is this what I think this is?” Fleur asked with a slight stutter.

“It is Fleur, these are the measurements of Princess Luna and Princess Celestia, and they’ve enlisted you to make their dresses.” Kai said as he walked towards Garrin to speak to him privately while Fleur squealed like a filly who just got her cutiemark.

“Did you ask her master?” Garrin asked.

“Yes, and she said yes!” Kai whispered with a smile. “Did you write that letter I told you to write to Twilight?” he asked.

“Of course, everything is going according to plan.” Garrin said as he nodded his head as they left Fleur to start making Luna and Celestia’s dresses.
