Derpy's Amazing Year

"What a year!" exclaimed Derpy.

Derpy and her daughter Dinky were both sitting on the rooftop of their house, watching the sunset. Little Dinky was cuddled against the side of her mother.

"Mommy! You did so much this year!" Dinky exclaimed.

"I sure did!" Derpy replied. "I can't believe I helped with Cranky and Matilda's wedding!"

Dinky laughed. "Mommy, didn't you get the date wrong on their wedding invitations?"

Derpy smiled and let out a chuckle. "Hehe.. Yeah. But then I helped get flowers! They were really pretty, and then they became really, reaaally pretty after Cranky and Matilda kissed!"

Dinky smiled at Derpy, very proud of her mother that things worked out in the end.

Derpy suddenly grew more excited. "Oh! Remember when Mommy became super gigantic, meowed like a cat, and helped save Ponyville?"

"Mommy!" Dinky said giggling, "that was just a dream!"

"But Dinky, don't you remember?" Derpy replied, "I really did help save Ponyville! Princess Luna's Tantabus thinghy was on the loose within all of our dreams, and it was trying to come into Ponyville!

Little Spike.. whoops! Hunky Spike climbed onto my back and we tried our hardest to slay the beast! In the end, Princess Luna defeated the Tantabus. Or shall I say, Princess Luna and the gigantic, meowing super Derpy defeated the Tantabus together!"

"Oh yeah!" Dinky cheerfully replied, even prouder of her mother.

Just then, a high-pitched mare's voice from down on the ground yelled out, "You were both seen together for the first time too! That's never ever happened before!"

Dinky abruptly stood up on all four hooves, a bit startled by the mystery pony's voice. She looked down off the edge of the rooftop to see who it was.

Derpy also stood up and looked over the edge. She spotted the source of the voice.

"Hi, Pinkie Pie!" Derpy cheerfully greeted before sitting back down.

"Hiya!" Pinkie Pie responded gleefully.

Dinky had calmed down. It was only Pinkie Pie. She too sat back down.

Pinkie looked back at Dinky. "So yeah! In Episode 110, you and Derpy were seen sitting outside Sugarcube Corner together! Though, I suppose it's not quite canon yet that you two are related. But oh well!"

"Huh?" Dinky replied, a bit baffled by Pinkie's strange wordings.

"Oh! Oh! The episode," Pinkie started, "It's 'The One Where I Know!'"

"Know what?" asked Dinky.

"That's the name of the episode." explained Pinkie. "'The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows'!"

Dinky turned to Derpy. "Mommy, what's Miss Pinkie talking about?"

"Dinky dear, if you have a question for Pinkie, you should ask Pinkie. Not me, silly!"

"Oh, okay." Dinky replied with a smile. She looked back at the enthusiastic pink mare down below. "Miss Pinkie, what are you talking about?"

Pinkie continued to explain in a fast-paced ramble. "Yep, yep! Episode 110, 'The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows'! That's Season 5, episode 19, timestamp 7:08. Outside of Sugarcube Corner, you were sitting next to Derpy while she was talking with White Lightning. Well, those two weren't reaaally talking. They were just sorta standing there, looking at each other. I mean, they could've been in the middle of a conversation and had just stopped talking for a moment, but it still looked preeetty weird. Oh! Oh! But then they actually did start talking, so I guess it wasn’t that weird!"

Dinky thought to herself for a moment and then looked back up at Derpy. "Pinkie just said something about 'Season 5'. Mommy, aren't there only four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter?"

"Yep!" Derpy replied. "I'm so proud of you Dinky! You know your seasons!"

Dinky looked back at Pinkie Pie to ask what she meant by all the other things she said.

But before Dinky could ask anything, Pinkie took a great big breath of air and continued her quick-paced rambling. "Oh! Oh! Oh! Not too long after you and Derpy were seen together, a DeLorean drove by right under my hooves. It was super-duper cool! There were trails of flames behind it and everything!"

Dinky was more confused than ever.

Pinkie Pie looked off into a random direction and started speaking. Even though it looked like she was speaking to nopony, she spoke as if there was somepony, rather, somebody reading about her. "I guess that reference would only make sense if you watched the episode on TV.. or if you watched a pirated version. *Gasp!* Tsk tsk on you!"

Dinky was just lost now.

"Miss Pinkie," Dinky started, "the stuff you're saying is really neato, and I really like it! But.. I don't know what you mean by episode or timestamp. Also, what's a DeLorean? And wha?"

Pinkie Pie gasped again, louder this time. "*Gasp!!* Oh shoot, I almost forgot! I'm supposed to hop off into the sunset! The sun's almost down, but I haven't done it yet!"

She then hopped off into the sunset and disappeared out of sight.

"That was weird, Mommy!" Dinky said to Derpy, giggling.

Derpy also giggled. "It sure was, Dinky!"

Pinkie then appeared out of nowhere right next to Derpy and Dinky on the rooftop. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot!" she started, "Derpy, I'm not sure I really like your new name.. 'Muffins'. Is it okay if I just keep calling you Derpy?"

"Sure!" Derpy replied. "That's my name afterall!" Derpy scrunched her face and gave a *squee*.

"Okie dokie loki!" Pinkie exclaimed.

Pinkie Pie climbed down a ladder on the side of Derpy and Dinky's house, a ladder that wasn't there before. She then hopped off into the sunset and disappeared out of sight again. Dinky looked at where the ladder had been. It was no longer there. It was as if it disappeared along with Pinkie.

Dinky was intrigued. "Where did that ladder come from, Mommy? And where did it go?"

"Oh, stuff like that just happens sometimes when Pinkie's around, Dinky." Derpy reassured.

Just then, Pinkie Pie appeared out of nowhere again in the same spot right next to Derpy and Dinky on the rooftop. "Hey, one more thing!" she exclaimed. "I really hope you guys get to play a big role in an episode next season!"

Pinkie Pie climbed down a ladder on the side of Derpy and Dinky's house, again, a ladder that wasn't there before. She then hopped off into the sunset and disappeared out of sight, now for the third time. Dinky looked at where the ladder had been. It was no longer there. It was as if it disappeared along with Pinkie, again.

"Mommy?" Dinky looked up at her mother.

"Oh, that's just Pinkie Pie being Pinkie Pie." reassured Derpy once more.

Derpy looked back at the sky. "Look, Dinky! The sun's still setting!"

Dinky looked at the sky. The sun was indeed still setting.

Derpy looked back down at Dinky. "It's like Princess Celestia slowed down the sunset just for us to keep enjoying it together!"

Dinky giggled. "Don't be silly, Mommy!"

The two cuddled against each other and continued reminiscing about all the great things they had accomplished this past year. They both watched as the sun slowly set behind the horizon.

It had just barely turned to night, but Dinky was already getting sleepy. Derpy gently lifted the sleepy little filly onto her back, carefully flew down from their rooftop onto the ground, and carried her inside.

Not too far away in Canterlot, Princess Celestia stood there gracefully on the balcony of her castle. She had finished her duty of lowering the sun. She dimmed the glow of her horn's magic.

Before heading in, she looked back once more towards the direction of Ponyville.

"Good night Dinky. Good night Derpy. I'm so proud of you two. We'll all get to see you both again very soon."
