//------------------------------// // A Foreword // Story: The Knights of Harmony // by Ledomare //------------------------------// A FOREWORD BY THE AUTHOR War, as it always seems, is a disastrous thing. It ravages countrysides, destroys homes, and in general obliterates the long-standing sense of unity a country or kingdom has. Nobody knew this more than my father, Ebon Quill the First, who not only slaved his life away writing the wartime songs and poems that we, as little foals, still recite today, but gave his life in service of Equestria, and to save me and my sisters from certain death. This story is a factual one, and to be treated as such. In many respects, of course, as is to expected of literature, exaggerations are kept and certain more adventurous details are included to ease the monotony of the passage of time. But still, the content and outcomes of this story actually happened. I had a wonderful resource in not only being able to study the legends and tales of some of these aforementioned “Knights of Yore” that we write about today, but as well to able to even associate and interview with certain of their members. Sterling Silver and Golden Hearth were great resources in remembering aspects of their journeys, and Starry Dusk’s biographical tales expedited further my research. I implore you to think of these legendary heroes, without which we may have never ended the War of Mayhem that so wrought our great land with hatred amongst our brothers. Too often, we give all our thanks to those who on Hearth’s Warming Eve gave those warring nations peace, and of the twin Alicorn princesses who outwitted King Discord himself with their elements of Harmony. Remember, instead as well as alongside those, they who crusaded across the land to find peace, the Knights of Harmony. -Ebon Quill the Second
