//------------------------------// // Chapter 1 // Story: connections // by Night scribbler //------------------------------// Connections It was a cold afternoon in the Wonderbolt compound. My teal hooves reached for a scarf that hung on my night stand. The scarf was a vibrant blue. It reminded me of a rather large pony. His coat a light blue. His eyes brighter than sky blue. His mane a warm maroon brown, three shades, each lighter than the other. I tightened the scarf around my neck. A small smile crept onto my face. My white mane standing up. I pushed it down with a hoof and it sprang back up again. "Hehehe," I giggled. Bouncing out of my dorm room."Nighty!" I called out to an alicorn who was similar color with a dark teal mane and eyes the same color as the stallion I’m so fond of. "Have you seen Calm anywhere?" I asked and she looked at me. "Calm caught a cold, he's in bed. At least I think he is," she replied. Continuing her way to Rivet’s office. Rivet, a tiny yellow stallion with a brown mane walked out. As much as I wanted to tackle the stallion with hugs, I held in my urge to. Continuing my way to Calm's room. I knocked on his door. "Come in," a low voice said and I poked my head in. As soon as I poked my head in I could tell that his body tensed up. He was wearing a pair of glasses and had some pencils on what seemed to be his desk. "Nighty told me you caught a cold," I announced which he nodded shyly, turning his attention back to the giant book in front of him. "Whatcha doin?" I asked and tried to look over his shoulder. He took his glasses off. "W-hen I’m not flying, I write..." he explained as I looked at the shelf to the left, walking up to it. "Are these all hoof-written?" I questioned which he nodded. "Mm hmm," he mumbled shyly, using his mane to hide his eyes. “Hey I think that’s cool! I could never write anything good, even if I tried,” I giggled out. Calm got up from his bed and went to the shelf, scanning his hoof written books he pulled one out. “You’ll like this one,” he stated. I held the book in my hooves, looking back at the shelf. Spotting a pink book a white tail on it. “What’s that one,” I asked pointing to the pink book. His face turned a little pink. “I’d rather not have you look at that...it’s still in progress,” he stated. I looked down, A bit guilty. “Sorry i asked,” I managed to whisper. “I-it-s ok...you didn’t know,” he stammered taking the book on his desk, closing it and propping it up on the shelf. In total there were 10 books. Two green, one purple, one pink, and the remaining are unique shades of blue with the last book being a light maroon. The color of his mane. When I looked back at him he was adjusting the pillows and blankets to his comfort. I decided to speak. “Do you mind if I stay longer?” I questioned which he nodded. I blushed and closed the door, climbing on the end of the bed. He shifted, a little uncomfortable. “Also…..thank you for saving me back there almost three months ago,” I shyly thanked with a blush. My white mane started to fall out of place, strands of it falling in front of my eyes, soon all of it fell down. Looking at him I quickly pecked his cheek and he lit up like a stop light. He immediately hid his face in his pillow. “Calm?” My voice quivered and his ears perked up. “Uhm… I’m a little… cold,” I blushed and he pulled his big wing over me. I turned pink, deciding to rest my head into his surprisingly fuzzy, fluffy, warm fur. “Y-you're so…...warm,” I managed to stutter. His fur brushed against my face. I started to feel...tired. Feeling my eyes closing I looked at the clock. Have I really been here for two hours? I tried to keep my eyes open but I failed, watching the light and blue fur disappear from existence. I heard him move, feeling a warm shiver down my spine as I felt his warm gaze. Feeling his hooves move, I heard a puf as the pillow was laid down to my left and heard a quiet sigh. Some time later my eyes opened. It was dark and my eyes fixed on Calm who’s head was laying on the pillow which he’d moved. I gazed upon a small alicorn. Nighty, who I came across earlier, was sleeping in the embrace of his hooves, a blanket of sky blue covering her as well as his fur, and her tiny hooves. A large gentle smile plastered on his face, I held in a d’aw at the sight. Watching them move a little. I gazed at something in the corner of my eye. A card was laying on his night stand ‘get well brother’ it said on the cover. I felt my heart tug at how cute the card was. I decided to lay back down into his soft fur. I soon was taken over by sleep. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the morning I could feel his warm gently breath near me. I shifted a little. My muzzle touched the tip of his big hoof which i felt something soft. My eyes opened. It was a plushie… of me. And he was hugging it. I blushed a bright pink. My immediate thought was to hug him, but I leaned in and kissed his cheek. His eyes shot open and he lit up like a stop light. He noticed that I saw the plushie and turned more red. Before he could duck his head under his pillow I hugged him gently, his neck is what I could reach right now. He released a meep but hugged me tightly, nuzzling me. “I… I had to save you. I didn’t want you and my friend to… die,” he quietly whispered. My heart felt as if it had been stabbed as I felt something wet drop onto my shoulder. “I..I-” I cut him off and kissed him. His face turned once again bright as a stop light...but he seemed to have melted in. The kiss was light and gentle. But passionate. Full of affection. I felt a cold burst of air from the far left. I opened one of my eyes. Calm was too caught up in the moment to hear the door or feel the cold air. “Fle-” It was spitfire. Calm’s eyes burst open and stared at spitfire. His ears, tips of wings, and his whole face turned a bright gleaming red as he stared with wide embarrassed eyes. He zipped under the pillow and groaned loudly. I was blushing a bit more myself. too embarrassed to say anything. spitfire closed the door and left. I didn’t know i was holding my breath so I let out a sigh and turned to calm. “Is she gone now?” Calm whimpered. “Yes calm she’s gone,” I replied. He lifted his head out of the grasp of his pillow and looked at me blushy and sad. “I’m here now,” I gestured and climbed onto his neck, my wings draping down his shoulders as I let them, I decided to put my mouth on his ear. “Num,” I giggled and I heard a meep and his neck tensed up. I smirked and ‘nummed’ his ears more. “Hey! no fair!” Calm replied and used his feathers to tickle the back of my wings which I yelped in surprise. Turning bright pink. I started to giggle. “Hahaha, stop it, nohaha! Calm!” I shouted out which he chuckled to himself as I fell off his neck. I relaxed when he stopped and held a hoof to his big nose. “Boop,” I said with a giggle and he stared blankly. He looked down and kissed me on the nose. “Boop,” he said back with a chuckle. My eyes stared into his vibrant deep blue irises. Reminding me of how...relaxed he almost always is. A deep red blush has formed on his face as he stared back. “You're…” He paused. “Cute” he managed to say. My hooves lifted up to my face as I held in a squeak. Now it was my turn to hide behind my white mane. “Eep!” I stuttered with a high squeaky pitch. His soft fur brushed against me. All of a sudden a low growl came from below. “What was that?” I asked calm and he blushed. “My stomach,” Calm replied and blushed more pink. “Hmm….” I said thinking of somewhere that has pretty good salads. “If only I knew a good place to eat,” I said and stretched my wings and back. My eyes drifted to him which he walked into his small living room, I did as well. Looking up at another shelf i found a cookbook “I never knew you cooked,” I claimed and took down the book. Coming across soups. “Sit,” I said. He sniffed. “Dang it...the dayhoof is wearing off,” he said and stuck his tongue out. He sat on the couch and sneezed. “I actually was never the cooker. I just bought the book to give me ideas of food in my writing,” he honestly replied before his stomach gave off another low growl. “Geez what do you have in there? A dragon?” I giggled and took out some potatoes, herbs, and cream. I cut the potatoes and herbs up. Pouring the already made cream into the bowl. Stirring it up and putting it in the mare o’ wave, heating it up for a minute. After it was done I stirred it and used a spoon to mash up a bit of the chunks. Giving it to calm. “Thank you,” he said as his mouth watered. Sticking his nose in he licked the potato-y soup. Letting his tastebuds refresh. He stuck his nose in again. “Mm!” he exclaimed. Slurping up the soup till it was gone. When he lifted his nose up he had a moustache of cream. I giggled and he licked the potato-y goodness off his muzzle. A smile plastered on his face as he stuck his tongue out. “Can I have more?” Calm eagerly asked and I nodded. “Only if you’ll let me look at that pink book” I noted in return. Smiling innocently as he turned pink. “Uhm…” he mumbled trying to hide his face in the couch. I sighed. “If it's that private I guess it can slide,” I sighed and Calm seemed relieved. “I really need to hide that book,” Calm said and pulled me into the embrace of his hooves. “You're...so SMALL!” He squeaked and put his muzzle in my mane. “Mm,” I muttered. His muzzle near my ears which he started to num them. “Hey, you up for the gym?” I asked and he shook his head. “Snuggles first,” he replied “Okay fine, we’ll go later.” With that I snuggled him. So much that we actually fell asleep. The warmth of each other's grasp tugging at our hearts throughout the rest of the day. To be continued...soon…
