//------------------------------// // The voice // Story: The Forgotten King // by Ghost Writer //------------------------------// Eclipse could sense that there was darkness everywhere around him. It seemed to be everything: sight, sound, feeling. What he felt seemed to be void of anything. Was this what it would be like? Was this what he would exist as forever? His thoughts seemed clouded. He couldn’t think right, it was as if his thoughts were moving slowly and he could barely think. He felt tired, as if he wanted to go to sleep and never wake up. However in the back of his mind there was still something keeping him there. There was a little flame in the darkness that was a will to survive. He knew deep inside that he couldn’t let himself slip away. He fought the darkness and used his thoughts of Equestria and the ponies in it to keep from being consumed by the darkness. The little flame of resistance had started to grow, he was certain now what he wanted. He didn’t want to die, he wanted to live. He wanted to see his friends again, to see Equestria again, and to experience everything he hadn’t gotten to experience yet. Then came the voice. “Pathetic.” It spat in disgust. “You let yourself be overcome by this……animal? Disgraceful. But you cannot be lost. I give you power, rise again.” There was a terrific sensation of power that racked his mind. It was as if he had been hit by lightning and all the energy was being channeled through his body. It felt as if he had the power of a god. The stone encasing him was vaporized instantaneously. Suddenly he realized that he could feel again, he could think clearly and he no longer felt that he was going to slip away. Whatever energy he was using to free himself was titanic and he knew it could only be magic. The sheer power of the magic was unbelievable. It felt as if his entire body could disintegrate if he lost control of the power. Instinctively he channeled the enormous energy of the magic to his body’s focal point for magic, his horn. There was a massive magical aura around his horn and the horn itself glowed white hot. He felt as if he could move mountains by a whim, as if he could crush castles like they were toys. He also felt anger, anger like he never felt before. It was as if he wanted vengeance on everything. He managed to slightly gain control of himself and focused ahead of him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see that the other pony that had been turned to stone was free too and had put a good amount of distance between herself and Eclipse. He wasn’t sure if he could control the magical outpour he was creating. He couldn’t stop the spell but he was now realizing that it took a massive amount of energy to keep it going. The spell took its power from Eclipse and he knew that if he couldn’t stop it, it would drain all of his energy. He struggled to control the magic but to no avail. The magic was worlds beyond anything he was capable of controlling or normally performing. The spell had come from an otherworldly power and he was miles out of his league. Then came a strange sound. The sound was barely audible at first but it was distinctive. It was a sizzling sound and it seemed to grow louder by the second. Then the sound changed into more of a cracking sound. Suddenly, without warning, there was an explosion in front of Eclipse that sent him flying backwards. He was thrown twenty feet by the force of it; it all happened so fast there wasn't even time to think about what was going on. For the brief moment Eclipse was flying through the air his mind was racing. Then *SMACK* he flew right into a tree and everything went black before he even knew he hit anything. Twilight was now free from stone and had been saved by a strange alicorn she had never seen before. At first she thought it was Luna, but excused the thought when she noticed that this alicorn was male. When the alicorn had cast the spell to free her he had apparently lost control of the magic, then there was a blinding flash of light followed by a loud crack that sounded like somepony throwing a brick to a window. The next thing Twilight knew the alicorn was twenty feet from where he had been, slumped on the ground by a tree. Twilight didn't know what to do at first. She didn't know much about medical ways, she only studied magic. She didn't want to leave the alicorn alone and injured but decided that there was no choice. She ran off into the woods to go get help.
