//------------------------------// // A diamond shines // Story: Our past // by Nikkori //------------------------------// A girl named Boysenberry angrily threw some assorted berries at Diamond Tiara's face. "I know your game!" Boysenberry declared. "You're trying to get on your daddy's good side, aren't you?" Diamond Tiara wiped the dark colored berries from her face. She forced a smile, trying not to relapse back into Queen Diamond Tiara. She gritted her teeth before speaking. "No!" Her voice was louder than she meant to. A feeling of power rose over her. "YOU WILL NEVER SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY!" Diamond yelled. No! Stop! Please! A voice inside her head pleaded. Don't go back! Diamond Tiara wanted desperately to gain control. But..... This feeling felt wonderful. "You!" Diamond pointed a slender finger at Boysenberry, "Will respect me, Worship me, and pray that you will even get a blink in your general direction from me! YOU. WILL. SERVE. ME." Diamond Tiara's voice had taken a tone similar to an evil queen with a heart of obsidian. "Y-y-y...." Boysenberry stammered. Diamond Tiara was scary when she was mad. It didn't help that DT was the tallest girl in school. "Stop stammering like an idiot! Is your brain made of berries?! I wouldn't be surprised if it was. All you eat is those stupid berries! Lemme guess, your family starves in the winter?!" Demonic Diamond, as this side of her was called, laughed at the trembling girl before her. "I will respect you, ma'am," Boysenberry whispered, trying to make herself smaller. "What was that?" Demonic Diamond grabbed the collar of Boysenberry's dress, forcing the girl's neck up. "I will respect you ma'am," Boysenberry was humiliated. All dignity was gone. Demonic Diamond twitched for a moment before she spoke. "Boysenberry!" Diamond Tiara gasped. She couldn't believe she just did that. She lost control for one second and the Boysenberry's a shivering mess on the floor. Gently, Diamond reached out to the girl. "Stay away!" Boysenberry shrieked. "I don't want to see your stupid face ever again!" "Boysenberry," Diamond Tiara started. "I'm so sorry. I just lost control and s-" "GO AWAY!" Boysenberry shrieked once again. "MAYBE YOUR DEAF!" Diamond continued to stare at the girl. "DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?! I SAID GO AWAY!" Boysenberry fell silent. "Maybe I will," Diamond replied. Then she realized where she was. Slowly she turned around, To face all of her classmates faces of horror on them. The faces that pained her the the most was Apple Bloom's, Sweetie Belle's, Scootaloo's, and Silver Spoon's. "Dia," Silver whispered. She had tears glistening in her violet eyes. Diamond Tiara ran. She ran out of the school. She ran until her vision became blurry with tears. She stopped. She saw a nice looking bench to cry on. Er, well, Tiara guessed it was a bench. Her vision was still blurry. "Why?" Diamond asked to nobody in peticular, just she she was exploded into tears and buried her face into her hands. "Why me?" Diamond continued to sob. "What did I do to deserve this?!" A hand was laid on DT's back. "Shouldn't you be in school?" A voice asked. Diamond didn't bother asking who it was. "Yes!" She replied. "But I can't go back! Everybody saw what I did!" By the creaking of the bench, the mysterious voice had sat next to her. "Here," The person held out a handkerchief. "Dry your eyes and talk to me." The voice was comforting, and Diamond really needed to talk. Gingerly, she wiped her eyes. The person revealed to be Sunset Shimmer. She was also revealed to be at Canterlot High. Diamond was awestruck. Sunset was the one who had brought equestrian magic to this place, and Diamond liked all of the magical-pony-princess-from-another-dimension stuff. Diamond sniffed before talking. "Sunset, why are you here?" Diamond asked. "I was just checking the portal's magic balance," Sunset replied casually. "How do you do that?" Diamond asked. She reminded herself to do a report on the Equestrian Portal soon. "I step in the portal and just come right back out. If it works, I'll be able to return. If it doesn't, the I'll get Princess Twilight to open it for me." Sunset replied. "Mmhm," Diamond replied. Something sparked in her. Sunset was having problems with her image, right? And she was too. So how about asking Sunset about what she did to get people to make friends with her. "Sunset," Diamond turned to face said girl, "how did you get people to start warming up to you?" Sunset clicked her tongue once. "I stared with trying to help everybody. That didn't work out because-" Diamond interrupted Sunset. "They were focused on your past," Diamond answered. Sunset was taken aback. This girl was like a mini Sunset problem-wise. "Yeah," Sunset replied. "Too focused on my past. So, when that proved to be a total bust, I signed up to show new students around. They turned out to be those Dazzlings girls that tried to take over the whole world." "Oh. I remember hearing about that," Diamond commented absentmindedly. "Mmhm. So at the Battle of the Bands, when they were almost completed with the evil deed, I sung a song. That song helped defeat them. Then people started warming up to me." Sunset finished. Diamond Tiara's eyes widened at the end. When they were almost completed with the evil deed, I sung a song. That song helped defeat them. Then people started warming up to me. "Sunset, they started liking you because you saved them," Diamond started. "It was like, 'She saved our lives, let's start being friends so that she'll save us again!'" "N-No!" Sunset stammered. "They genuinely started to like me!" Deep down, Sunset knew the younger girl was right. She had saved them. They immediately started liking her Afterwards. It was because they wanted to live once another threat came that they began being nice. It made Sunset's heart drop. Diamond must've picked up on Sunset's mood change. "Oh no!" Diamond said. "This keeps happening! Maybe people just don't like the daddy's little princess who gets everything she's ever wanted. They don't think she can be nice. They don't think-" Diamond was cut off by Sunset. "Stop! People have a hard time learning to to look at the past as much. They think-" A few tears came trickling down the amber girl's cheek. "They think that the present is just a insignificant thing. The past is what build everything for them. I-I...." Sunset began crying openly. Diamond gave the older girl a hug. "Let it out. Let it all out," Diamond learned to say that because Silvy always made her feel better after talking with mom. Diamond's mother was the the definition of snooty. Sunset soon finished crying. "They think you never change," Sunset's voice was barely above a whisper. Diamond nodded silently. "This girl named Boysenberry threw some of her food at me. I relapsed into 'Demionic Diamond', the name for my evil side. I made fun of her so much, that when I came to my senses, she was a shivering ball on the floor. She told me to go away, and I ran here, crying." Diamond Tiara said. "You made me realize things. You helped me. I'm gonna try to help you." Sunset looked up with eyes misted over with happy tears. "You," Sunset broke out into a wide smile. "You really are going to try and help me?" Diamond nodded. "As hard as I can," She replied. Sunset tackled the smaller girl in a hug. "Thank you!" Sunset cried. "Oh thank you!" Diamond was a little surprised by the hug, but soon melted into it. "No problem," Diamond replied. The dismissal bell for the school rang. Sunset smiled as she got up. "I don't want to see you here crying again," Sunset began. "Are going to be here crying again soon?" Diamond giggled. "No. I'm not. Will you?" "No." Sunset replied giggling as well. "I'll meet you here on Saturday!" Sunset called as she ran inside the school. "See you Saturday!" And with that Diamond took off running to her school.
