//------------------------------// // 8. Secretly Missing You // Story: The Dragon Master And His Princess // by Chocolate Pony //------------------------------// Hiccup's POV "Hiccup!" Astrid shouted. I yelped and jumped, hitting my head on a wooden beam. I groaned and rubbed the now painful spot. "Astrid! What the heck!?" "You've been staring into space for so long, you almost melted the sword you were working on" She explained, pointing a hoof at it. "Oh..sorry" I replied, pulling the sword out of the hot coals. "Is something wrong, babe? You've been acting odd since we left the princesses castle. And you were in an awful big hurry to leave" Astrid asked. I bit my lip, swishing my tail a bit. I couldn't tell her why I'd left the party so quickly. Nor what- or more specifically who had been on my mind for the past couple weeks. Astrid would probably chop my head off and hang it on her wall! "Um...I've just had a lot of stress on my shoulders. You know, being chief now and all. And us...getting married soon. It's...a lot to get used to" I lied. Astrid glared at me, leaning closer to me. I backed up a little, flattening my ears against my head. She eyed me with the utmost suspicion. I held my breath for a few seconds. Luckily, she backed off. "If you say so. Anyway, I'm going for a flight on Stormfly if you need me. Later!" She waved before trotting away. I sighed, going back to my work. Thank goodness she didn't find out what was really on my mind. Just thinking about the party made my heart sink. I gasped I surprise as Toothless purred against me. I sighed again, rubbing his head. "Hey, bud. I know you're trying to cheer me up, but it's not gonna work. After seeing Anna's coltfriend propose, I haven't felt the same. I feel...unnautral" I said, sitting on my hunches. I used my magic to pull up a towel, wiping the sweat off myself. I was not only feeling down about the proposal. I felt upset about leaving so quickly. What if..what if Anna asked about me? What if she hadn't wanted me to leave? What would she think of me now? It was a lot to think about. Toothless purred against me for comfort. I smiled slightly, standing back up. Maybe a flight would make me feel better. At least I hope.
