//------------------------------// // Chapter 5: Partying Out of Town - part 2 // Story: In Need of a Break // by Sweetheart_a_Light //------------------------------// “Ah said no, Rarity!” Applejack shouted, her face red of embarrassment. Rarity had just got ready to go. She was wearing a long, plain purple dress, with diamond shaped arrangements, colored silver. Her back hooves were covered by her silver heels. Her earrings, necklace and bracelets were made out of real pearls. Her mane was wrapped in a bun. She wanted to help Applejack, but she wasn't letting her. “Come on, darling," Rarity whined. "This dress is perfect for you!" “But ah don't wanna go in a dress!" Applejack complained. "It's just a party! In what kind of party needs ya ta wear a dress?" Applejack was almost ready as well. Rarity already helped her with her mane, making a simple braid, and tying the end with a simple brown bow with a bright green apple in front. But Applejack didn't want to wear a dress, apparently. Rarity ignored her commentary and used her magic to teleport the dress onto Applejack's body. “H-Hey!" The dress had the same design as Rarity's, but this one was brown and had green apple arrangements. “The kind of party that needs you to go with a dress," Rarity finally answered Applejack, while forcing her to put on green shoes,“are the ones that are hosted in Los Pegasus, my dear!" There it was. The 'my dear' thing again. Applejack blushed. “A-Alright…” she said. “Now let's get going! I don't want to miss anything!" The party was happening at the hotel's ballroom. It had lot's of ponies wearing tons of vests as fancy as ever, talking about various subjects. The middle of the room was occupied by a dance stage, where tons of couples were dancing happily. The DJ was on the other side of room, but still facing the stage. There was a bar stand in the left side and a open garden on the right side. “Uh, what should we do first?" Applejack asked. Rarity knew where she wanted to go first. She wanted to go to the stage and dance with Applejack all night. But she couldn't drag herself there just yet." “How about a drink?" They walked to the stand where a stallion with dark green coat, bright yellow mane and blue eyes was making the drinks. He had a orange drink for a cutie mark. “What can I do for you tonight, ladies?" he asked in a strange accent. “Ah want an apple cider,” Applejack said. “And I want a strawberry and orange drink, please!" “Comin' right up!" he said while turning away and making the drinks. Before they could blink, their drinks were right in front of them, decorated with fruit slices, little umbrellas and straws. “Here they are!" the bartender said, smiling. “Thank you, darling." Rarity said. They took a sip of the drink. “Whoa Nelly!" Applejack said. "This is really great!” “It sure is!” Rarity agreed. Just as soon as they finished their drinks, a slow, jazzy music started playing. “This is for all the couples that are present here tonight!" the DJ said. "Come and have fun!" Rarity was going to ask Applejack if she wanted to dance, but then Applejack turned to her. “May I have this dance?" Rarity face became red. She couldn't believe it. “S-Sure..." They slowly to the dance stage, where they started dancing to the slow rhythm of the music. “Where did you learn to dance like that, Applejack?" Rarity asked, surprised by the fact that Applejack was dancing pretty well. “Ah didn't," she said. "Ah'm just goin' where yer goin'." Rarity couldn't resist laughing at her partner. “You're such a silly pony." Before Applejack could answer, Rarity leaned in and kissed her on the nose. Applejack's face became completely red. “R-Rarity…” Rarity smiled coyly. “Let's continue to dance, shall we?” Thinking fast, Applejack swirled Rarity and grabbed her with her forelegs. Then she pulled her closer to her body and kissed her forehead. Rarity smiled at her. They danced all night. By the time the party was close to an end, it was almost dawn. The new couple was standing in the garden, sipping their drinks and watching the sunrise. “I don't want this night to end,"  Rarity said in a serious tone. "It was too perfect. I want to hold your arms and relax forever.” “And we will,” Applejack answered in the same tonality. Then she opened a smile. "Just you wait 'till ah show ya what ah've planned." Rarity blinked. "Oh, and what is it?" “You'll have to wait!" Applejack answered cheerfully." Rarity chuckled. ,Only you would come up with something like that, my dear.“ Applejack smiled. “That's what I like to hear." They had learned a valuable lesson that night. It's always better to be honest with a generous heart than to be a liar with a greedy heart.
