//------------------------------// // Two of Hearts // Story: Two Half Hearts // by Serket808 //------------------------------// As snow fell on the streets of Canterlot, Sunset Shimmer slowly walked down the sidewalk. She clutched her hot chocolate in her hands and breathed in and out the frost of the cold night. The cold weather made her shake and shiver. She was barely able to hold her hot cocoa she was so cold. Sunset finally realized the sun was gone and the night was dark. Street lights began to turn on and so did car lights. Some stored turned some signs from open to closed. Sunset sat on a bench that was covered in snow and waited for the bus back to her apartment, which would be there in about a half an hour. She pulled her beanie down and just watched as cars passed, some others closed store windows, and some walked into and out of stores. None even made a gesture to say "Hi" or "Are you okay?". Even though she was fine, some company would be nice. But as usual, there was nobody. "Hey!" A lady shouted. "That was my favorite dress! Do you know how much that costed?" Sunset looked over to where the voice came from. There stood an elegantly dressed lady and a younger girl about Sunsets age who looked panicked. He coffee mug was on the ground and a brown stain was on the older woman's dress. She looked angry. "I'm so sorry miss!" The girl apologized. She grabbed her brown leather purse and ripped some napkins out of it. Handing it towards the lady, she put her hand out and moved the stain away from her. "Don't give me napkins! You disgrace to fashion! I demanded a new dress now!" "I-I-I" "Did I stutter?" "I'll get it and be back here tomorrow." The younger girl sighed and with her head down, walked away. Her bright blue eyes had a sad feeling in them. Her blonde curly hair with some pieces of snow, she rung them out so they went every which way. She pulled her brown hat off and tucked it in her bag and fiddled with her gray buttons on her jacket. The poor girl made Sunset flinch. She felt bad, that ratty lady had been so rude to her. It's not as if she meant to spill her drink, it was an accident. "Wait!" Sunset called to the girl. The girl stopped in her tracks and turned towards her. She put a fake smile on her face and walked towards her. "Can I help you?" "Are you okay? That lady was a real bitch to you, you shouldn't need to replace the dress." She quickly nodded her head as if it was no issue. "Oh no, it's no issue. It was my fault." "But it wasn't your fault, it was just an accident." Sunset stepped closer. "You're seriously gonna replace the dress?" "Yeah," Sunset sighed. She would never get this girl on her boat. "Well, my friend is an amazing fashion designer! She can definitely get something along the lines of that prepared for half off." The blondes blue eyes lit up. "Really?" Her eyes quickly lost that spark. She shook her heads and hands. "No no no, I could never do that. I barely even know you, let alone take advantage of your fashion designer friend." Sunset smiled and out her hand out. "Well let's begin, I'm Sunset Shimmer." The girl shook her hand and replied, "I'm Grace Gardner." "Where are you heading?" Sunset asked, taking a seat on the same bench she was in a few minutes ago, but this time with Grace. Grace twirled a piece of hair. "I'm heading home for the holidays. I barely have any family left, my dad's girlfriend got her head cut of by my insane sycophantic half sister I didn't even know I had until about a month ago, and even worse we had it served for Thanksgiving dinner. And my insane half brother was killed, and this deaf girl had her head mowed over..." she loved down as she saw Sunset give her a freaked out look. "Okay..." Sunsets scratched her cheek in a nervous way. "Sorry." Grace said, "I guess I got carried away with my past. How about you?" Sunset remained speechless. "Um... well half my school hated me because I was a bitch, now everyone respects me as a peer, so... that was my summary." Grace tightened her lips and raised her eyebrows. "Better then my past." "So... your high school sounds a little like... a... what is it? A horror movie." "Yeah," Grace nodded. "But except it's a collage, I go to Wallace University. And I'm in Kappa Kappa Tau." "Kappa Kappa what now?" Sunset inquired, sipping the hot chocolate she forgot she had. "It's a sorority house. It was were my mom went, before she died when I was a baby." "I had a sister who flew the coop about seven years ago," Sunset rubbed her eyes. "She committed suicide before I could see her after she went into a mental hospital." "Yikes." "Yeah, we weren't really close since I spent most my time studying at a magic.... I mean a private school." Sunset quickly stopped herself from saying magic school because Grace obviously wasn't from Equestria and would be freaked out my a 'magic school'. "I don't know what my interest are exactly, I'm just gonna spend the rest of my teenage years reading Twilight and being at KKT." Grace told her, catching a snowflake on her glove. Sunset smiled as the words reading Twilight slipped from Grace's mouth. "I love that series. And the movies. And I'm sort of crazy about the songs," "Same," Grace sat up. "I love 'A Thousand Years'." "Christina Perri will never get old." "Neither will her singing." Grace smiled. "Wow. We have alot in common. A crappy past, sort of alone for the holidays, and we both love Twilight!" "Yeah," Sunset grinned and threw her hot chocolate away in the trash bin behind her. "Do you wanna go grab a bite at Fun Fraps? It's right down the street and it's still open." "Definitely," Grace replied, adjusting her hat.
