//------------------------------// // The Cold,Yet Happy Days // Story: The Cold,Yet Happy Days // by Ice of Spade //------------------------------// In an old house, a pony older than the house itself, was siting in a chair by the fire pit reading from a book, but he then looked from his book with a soft and warm gaze towards something. He was so fixated that you could say he was looking to somepony, but there was nopony there. He smiled and then turned his gaze towards a nearby window to see how the snowflakes were falling down from the sky, the window suddenly open gently, leaving one snowflake to come inside and land on his hoof. The old pony looked at the snowflake that didn't melt, then turned his gaze towards the open window, that slowly began to close and with a nostalgic tone he began to say: "Winter, the time of the year when the trees go to sleep, when the ground is dressed in its soft white attire and cold winds whistle through the empty branches of the trees, when most of the animals take shelter from the cold winds and wait until spring. Winter, not as fresh and rejuvenating as spring, warm and sunny as the summer or cold yet pleasant as autumn. Yes winter can be considered cruel, yet winter is a the time of happiness and joy, when ponies gather with their friends and family to celebrate together Hearth's Warming Eve. A holiday that reminds them how to smile and laugh no matter what... Even if Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle lost the best snowpony contest, their happiness was unbreakable, because they had a lot of fun while making their snowpony. They will try next year and even the year that comes after, no matter the outcome, because it was something fun they did together. Games you can win and lose, but sharing the good times with your friends is worth more than a victory. ...It reminds them how to forgive... Starlight Glimmer might not have been so welcomed at first by Twilight's friends. For some time she thought she was never truly forgiven, but her thoughts were changed, when she had her first Hearths Warming Eve with them. They showed her that as long as you assume your mistakes and try to fix them you will be forgiven, eventually. The truth is that you will never forget, but you got the power to forgive. ...it reminds them to never give up... In Manehattan, Coco Pommel tries hard to finish the costumes for a Hearts Warming Eve play held at a theatrer; In Fillydelphia, Coloratura cant perform her song because of technical problems; In Griffonstone, Gilda tries to bring back the griffons to their former glory. Now what do they have in common? Coco Pommel is racing against time to finish the costumes for the play, Coloratura is facing technical problems with the microphones and the audience is growing impatient. Gilda is dealing with the fact that she tries to bring back their winter traditions but no griffon seems to care. They all try to do something that might be impossible to achieve. Now some might just give up, but not them,Coco manages to finish in time, Coloratura went on stage and began to sing without a microphone and manages to get the whole crowd to sing along, Gilda manages to convince some griffons to help her restore the winter traditions, seeing this the others griffons begin to join up one by one. Now no matter how hard things are getting you should never give up without trying your hardest. ...its reminds them to care... In the Canterlot castle the royal sisters looked out of the window. Princess Luna still looked in awe, while Celestia looked in nostalgia, unlike Luna, Celestia have seen the Hearth Warming Eve for the last a thousand moons, but every time its fells different. Even when she was surrounded by so many, she still felt alone, but now she remembers why. She should have done something to prevent Luna from turning into Nightmare Moon, yet seeing her sister beside her it makes those sad memories go away. Now we all have memories, we cherish and share, the good ones with those close to us, but we should never forget or forsake the bad ones, for there are many things we can learn from them and we should never forget to care about those we hold dear. ...it reminds them to be kind... Across the land, ponies, big and small, young and old, are opening their hearths and share joy with the their family, the one they love or their friends. Singing, talking and laughing all together. Being together with family and friend, the love and friendship they give it to you is the only gift that is truly given from the hearth. ...it reminds them to love. Love has a place in every hearth. Its what makes us do anything for the one we love, its the one thing stronger than every thing life trows at us, its the thing that makes you rise from the ashes every time. Love is what will get you through all the hardships you will encounter. The flame of love burns bright in every hearth. Winter that time of the year when the weather is cold, but our hearths burn hot. This is the time of the year when we show kindness to all we meet, whether they are strangers or friends and share your love with the ones closest to you. Is the time of the year when families come together to celebrate. When the young play and sing, when the old remember of their youth. Yes, winter is the mistress that is cold on the outside, but at the same time she holds within, a kind soul and a warm hearth. It is indeed as it said don't judge a book by its cover, because the only thing that matters is inside." Then the old pony closed his eyes and continued: "Remember my words, for there might be a truth among them.", and with this last words he began to fade, leaving behind just snow and a soft whisper in the wind. "Remember."
